1. For what this costs, it would seem there are already other small handgun options on the market with light trigger pulls that would be fine for the elderly. And, frankly, if someone isn't strong enough to pull the trigger with their index finger and requires a specially-designed device that allows them to press a trigger "button" with their thumb, perhaps they shouldn't have a lethal weapon in their hand at all.
2. These guys are constantly hanging around our backyard, so I thought I'd take a few pictures. They won't let you get real close, but they certainly don't just run away when they see us on the deck or hear a car door slam. We regularly have 8-10 deer hang around also and have seen several fox and coyote.
3. Highly doubtful anyone would have received a probation sentence in light of the involvement of guns. But a "non-OJ" person very likely would have received a lesser sentence than what he got. Frankly, I don't feel the least bit sorry for the jerk, but it doesn't speak well for our criminal justice system if you beleive - as I do - that part of his sentence was based on his questionable acquittal in the prior case.
4. I think X pulls away late and wins by 8-10. Gonna be a fun game to watch.
5. I guess that falls into the category of "if if's and buts were candys and nuts". And many QB's could also make the claim that if they had HHS' OL blocking for them or HHS' WR's catching their passes, they would also be much better. Works both ways.
6. Based on the sentence he received. I am assuming the person's point is that someone other than OJ would have received a lesser sentence, something that I agree with. I thought the judge in her sentencing statement rambled on to the point of overkill about how she was not considering OJ's past case in determining this sentence. No need for her to go on for that length - or make any statement at all for that matter, since it's abundantly obviously the law doesn't allow it. Almost gave one the impression that she was desperate to explain away the appearance that the sentence did indeed take the murder acquittal into account.
7. Then you don't read all of my posts. I have complimented HHS players - both football and baseball - many times. In fact, I am the one who stated at the beginning of this thread that Guidugli was a big oversight on this list. And the most negative comment I have ever made about anyone from HHS is to say that they were a good player, but disagreed that they were a legitimate D-1 prospect. Feel free to go back through all my posts if you like to try and prove otherwise. Beyond that, I'm not certain how you viewed my comment comparing Guidugli to West as negative. What - if someone dares say a QB is as good (or better) as Guidugli it's somehow an insult? Ryle QB Conner Hempel has a shot to be every bit as good as Guidugli. Will he be? I have no idea, but he might be. Only a sophomore and put up some pretty nice numbers this year.
8. Agree with this. And very much disagree that Guidugli is the only one of the 3 who have a shot at D-1 anyways. West has every bit as much (or little, depending on your viewpoint) as Guidugli.
9. Where are you seeing this 136 rushes difference? And pure speculation that he would have gotten to 9.0 ypg. Do you realize how much additional yards per carry that would require to boost his overall average (including the first 200 rushes) that high? Also, I don't think it's fair to consider whether one or the other has to play another position. I don't disagree with what you're saying, but ultimately you have to pick the best running back, regardless of whether they also play defense or special teams and whether their offensive performance is somehow impacted by playing these additional roles.
10. Just glad they didn't give him a multi-year contract. He'll be 40 years old next season and there just ain't a lot of successful pitchers still hanging around at that age. Lord knows the Reds have tried . . . .
11. The stats I see have Quainoo with 245 carries and Kelly with 209. More importantly, Quainoo's yards per carry average is 9.0 to Kelly's 7.5. NCC had other offensive weapons this year, Boone essentially did not and Quanioo carried that team on his shoulders.
12. Very likely true. And a shame if that happens, because they are clearly the top two teams in the country right now and both playing very well.
13. Big fan of James Joyce's writing style are you?
14. If you're going to pack heat while in NYC, make sure to get a permit first. :sssh: (Saw Halfback posted in this thread, so this one was more for him. )
15. Constantly told by our 16-year old that we are the strictest parents of any of his friends (not even close to being true, but even if it was, we don't care ). Great kid, straight A student, mature, responsible, polite, great set of friends - wouldn't change a thing about him. But we simply have certain rules about curfew, car usage, homework first, chores, where/when he sees his girlfriend, how much money we regularly hand over to him for spending (he doesn't work a pt job because of sports/schoolwork and we give him money w/o doing chores because he will ultimately save us thousands via scholarships). I am sure we are more strict than most, but certainly not all. But it does get hard sometimes when there are parents out there that allow their kid to do whatever they want, whenever they want and your kids see that and want the same "liberties".
16. Stats are indeed important, as evidenced by the fact that the best player(s) in the country will have a boatload of them. Let's say you are absolutely convinced that Tebow is the best player, but he tore his ACL two weeks ago. You still going to vote for him over Bradford because you are convinced he's the "best" player?
17. Guess I could ask the same question of you about SEC. How exactly do you see that conference as significantly stronger than Big 12? Sagarin has B12 rated over SEC. And discounting OU's win against UC simply because it was early in the season is unfair. The bottomline is that they dismantled a team that will finish in or near the Top Ten in the country. Early in the season or not, it counts as an impressive out of conference win. Not
18. Oklahoma can score on Florida. They'll give up a lot of points, too, but I think they could pull it off.
19. This is actually the part of the story I found interesting: It started as a typical Friday night at the Latin Quarter: exclusive guest list, $200 bottles of Moet champagne and well-dressed clientele lining up to pay a $30 cover charge to party at the swank Manhattan club. Then a few very, very important people rolled up in a black Cadillac Escalade: New York Giant stars Plaxico Burress and Antonio Pierce. The two sauntered inside, heading for the VIP section amid the pulsing merengue and hip-hop, Burress with a loaded, illegal gun tucked into the waistband of his track pants. Burress and Pierce showed up at the club at 1:20 a.m. Burress bypassed the line of patrons and got into the club despite the semiautomatic gun in his pants and ordered a drink. Now admittedly, I'm not a big "clubber", but my impression is that this wasn't exactly the type of environment that Plexithug really needed to be concerned with his personal safety, as he so claimed. And if he truly was so concerned that he felt the need to carry a concealed weapon, probably would have been worth his while making to ensure he was doing so legally.
20. Weather forecast calls for temps in low teens (windchill -5 ), windy, and periods of snow for next Friday night. Saturday looks to be quite a bit warmer though. Of course, it's a week away and with the accuracy of weather forecasting around here, it could turn out to be sunny and mid-60's.
21. May treasure it forever, but it ain't going to win over the heart of a 19 year old. Just a guess, but I'm thinking he's looking for an impact gift that might butter her up . . . something like an 18V Dewalt cordless drill (Lithium Ion battery, of course) or a new shotgun. Trust me, I know women . . . . :thumb:
22. That does not sound like a run defense that "bent but did not break." That sounds like a run defense that completely shut down any running game. Yeah, I'd say .5 yards per rush attempt is halfway decent defense. :thumb:
23. Nice comeback effort by Ryle after getting obliterated in the first half (especially first quarter), though the comeback probably had a lot to do with Stenzel not returning. Ryle really didn't have an answer for him the 2 1/2 quarters he played. Clark Cty. sure has some solid shooters. McLeish, Coleman, Russell, and Stauffer were probably the high scorers for Ryle. Ryle turned the ball over too much late, went cold from the field for a stretch and the comeback stalled out. Ryle also missed a fair number of free throws. Not implying that it ultimately affected the final outcome of the game, as Clark Cty. is a better team than Ryle, but the officiating - well, at least one of the officials - was retched. Ryle was probably called for at least 17 or 18 fouls in the second half alone(admittedly 2 or 3 were intentional very late) and almost all were called by the same ref, who also just happened to miss about a half dozen travelling calls by Clark. Again, Clark won because they are better and they played better, but this ref was utterly ridiculous and shouldn't be officiating anything above 6th grade rec ball.
