  1. Lawrence Buell and Nick Sanford. Haven't heard those names in awhile. Buell was about 6'4" and a lefty if I remember. He was tough. Nick Sanford was also tough. He had an older brother that played a few years before him as well. Not as good as Nick though. Another "sick" dunker was Allen McCowan from Bryan Station. Dante Gay was at Sue Bennett college in London his freshman year in college, not sure when/if he made it to Georgia State. He was more than 5'9" I think though.
  2. Russ Chadwell- Clay County from '87-88. He was about 5'10-5'11 and had plenty of NICE dunks, especially baseline dunks. He won 2nd place in the dunk contest at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC in '88. Everick Sullivan who was about 6'5" and played at Louisville won the contest. Some other players that were in the tournament that year were Kenny Anderson, Stanley Roberts, Jerod Mustaf, Don McLean but I can't remember if they were in the dunk contest or not. Russ was "sick" on that leaner from the side of the lane!! Measured at a 42" vertical.
  3. Was this team ranked nationally or in the top 20 in Virginia? I looked on the USA today rankings and didn't see them in the national top 25. Wow, 23 pts. and 33 pts. is super low. Were both teams deliberate or just excellent defense?
  4. The Lady Tigers were in the championship game. Does anyone know the result?
  5. #1- Bobby Keith #2- Bobby Keith #3- Billy Hicks #4- Larry Bruner:jump:
  6. I was not at the PCC and CCHS game but I do want to add this. When Bobby Keith was at CCHS the refs didn't have to help CCHS win. CCHS went nationwide to win games during the 87&88 seasons specifically and plenty of games statewide during the years 87-90. CCHS was just that good. The only difference would have been winning by 50 instead of 30. :fight:
  7. Eastern Kentuckians have pride and probably say things in the hope that maybe it may be their year once again. You know, it does happen occasionally.....Hazard 1955, Carr Creek 1956, Laurel County 1982, Paintsville 1995, and South Laurel 2005. And our girls teams have done fairly well too. You forgot Clay County in 1987. Clay also made the finals in '85 & '88. They also made the final four in '90 and '92. Clay girls also won it all in '89.
  8. One of Coach's favorite quotes was "Good things come to those who work hard". I think that sums up Coach Keith and what he stands for.
