Pig Allen told me one time of a story about players self inflicting injury to themselves to avoid the Bear. Also, told me about Bear hitting one of them in the nose before practice with his fist. lol That was many, many years ago but boy it was interesting!

I have actually seen 2 photo's of both Bowden and Joe Pa at Cawood High school. If I am not mistaken Bowden was at West Virginia at the time and was recruiting Grant maybe? I could be wrong about that. Also, Joe Pa was getting out of a copter at a local mines/ some relationship with a mine foreman or maybe a owner. Don't recall who he was looking at? One old time local supporter told me the story for the truth and I even saw both pictures of them. Bowden was easy to identify. Joe Pa was a little harder.

What about Pig Allen by the Bear? Durham was who I was thinking about playing for UK. You can't get nothing by HDE. Good Job. This is pretty interesting.

1. McDaniels 2. Saylor 3. ? I have always been told of another Lineman early 70's? Can't remember the name to save my life. The all-state first team is a great question because almost always people will say a Saylor or Hensley and a few others. Barrett was the only 1st team all state from Cawood. Good job HDE!

Kind of my thinking but also more of a family thing with me than W's or L's. He was in our feeder program in JR high and I just think he could of been outstanding at Cawood.

And your point is what? IMHO the city can have a bowl if they want to, however, the county is moving on and is going to do what is best for the BLACK BEARS! Hate will only pull one down big guy!

I have been out and about talking and rubbing shoulders with some supporters of the Black Bears and just wanted to say how proud I am of these county people. I didn't fully understand all the work and effort that has been taking place and all the things both little and big that are being done. I can't go in to details about all the stuff taking place because I wouldn't want to cause any slow downs because of a remark on here. However, I think it is important to note how all these people have come together for the good of the youth in Harlan County. Some of the things taking place are amazing and some BIG projects are being tackled at this time. The support is outstanding and I AM PROUD TO BE A BLACK BEAR!:dancingpa
