  1. I wouldn't forget about Jtown. Listened to this game and I'm not so sure either of these teams have enough depth (Scott Co only played 7) I think they would be vulnerable when playing a pressing team with the quality depth and athletes that Jtown will bring!
  2. Come on people! Don't have a bone in this one but you can't tell me that EVERY school doesn't have a few teenagers that will act like idiots!! Doesn't mean it's right and I guarantee you if a THS adult representative was there it would have been stopped immediately, just as with every other school!
  3. Agree Jenkins absence makes a big difference but I would also argue that Trinity could play A LOT better than they did last night(letting a 12 point halftime lead get away with poor third quarter play) so I wouldn't be putting a W in the books quite yet if they happen to meet again. And the player of the night for Maunal wasn't Samsel, it was Nickoloc. Really played well inside getting himself into postion to score!
  4. Spoke too soon!! Haddix takes it to the house 27-13 Central with 3 to go in 3rd quarter
  5. 27-7 Central, missed extra point Where's Lonewolf now? I assume he's at game? Fugate better be superman or this one is over!
  6. Congrats to Deuce and his parents. I have watched him since grade school and he is a class act! Couldn't have given the award to a more outstanding athlete and quality young man!
  7. OK, I am confused. On the Trinity-SK thread, Miles Simpson is going to run all over Trinity's defense and here Fugate is going to run all over Central? Which one is the better junior running back? I would be suprised if either one of them has a huge night as they will face the best defenses they've seen all year, by far!
  8. Not at game but from what I heard, Trinity was down 3 at the half so they outscored SC 25 in the second. Eta, as I was stating the other day in another thread, there are 6-7 tough teams in the 7th that can play with anybody on a given night!!
  9. It's obvious the SK is playing better but I just don't see how a team with 4 losses, including a blowout by Boone, can have improved enough to hang with Trinity. First, for them to run the ball successfully, even with a great back, the line will have to control Trinity's line and not even St. X could do that. Also, SK will see an offensive scheme unlike anything they have seen all year and I'm not sure they can prepare for that in a week. Finally, Beatty is not the kind of coach to let his players get overconfident so I expect they will be ready. That being said, 75% of the respondents thought Trinity had no shot against X so, as they say, "you have to play the game!"
  10. I think this shows that the loss of Aaron Williams (graduation) and Tony Kimbro (transfer) may hurt more than some thought!
  11. Point 1- Male was missing maybe their best player in OJ Bell who is 6'5" and one of their best scorers/shooters in James Pfillisefske. Point 2- If you have no bench what happens if you get into foul trouble or face a team that forces you to sub(Jtown, Ballard, or Seneca) by the pace they play? Point 3- No way I give you the win over Jtown or Eastern and, as I said, you would have a game with 4-5 others in the 7th. You guys may win it all but the excuses need to stop because, unfortunately, the injury bug and foul trouble are always an issue and your "JV" guys better be able to play or you may be sitting at home come Rupp time!
  12. A five point win and Male is missing at least two starters, including their post player? You can paint this any way you want but after getting hammered by Tates Creek I wouldn't be making any comments on the 7th region. Again, as with the Male-Scott Co. scrimmage, I wouldn't sell Male short until they have their whole squad. Holmes certainly will be solid this season but I would bet they would have a tough game with any of the top seven teams from the 7th region! Certainly you have some quality athletes and a good team but I think if you ask your coach he would not want to have to deal with the 7th region this year!
  13. Hold on a second on the analysis! FC hits 5-5 threes early to get about a 12 point lead in the first 3-4 minutes and goes to half with a 12-14 point lead, thanks to at least 20 free throws in the 1st half, so no momentum changes in second quarter and unless FC was going to continue to shoot 100% from three, I don't think a blowout was going to occur. Trinity turns up pressure in 2nd half, and despite being called for a foul everytime they breathed, still was able to get the lead with better rebounding. I would not count this to be an "easy win" for FC if they play again. Get some fair officials and make FC score from the field and not shoot at least 40free throws and we have a much different outcome. The two off the ball illegal screen fouls called on Trinity in the last three minutes, when they finally have the lead and are trying to run clock, illustrates my officiating point rather clearly! Just a scrimmage but give credit to both teams as any FC supporter who was there and paying attention should realize they were lucky to escape with the tie! If the two other players are as good as advertised, FC will have a top 20 team this year, I would think! Best of luck to both teams as I think they will be tough opponents in their regions!
  14. Franklin Co played well in 1st half but I thought that besides Vance Hall they really struggled to handle the ball. I would think that they would have trouble with the pressure that Scott Co, Bryan Station and others in the 11th will bring. Hall played well taking the ball to ther hole all night long and probably made 20free throws! They also had a two big men that were solid. Trinity allowed them a lot of open three's early but settled down and clearly controlled the game in the second half and OT. If not for for some suspect officiating and a couple of big threes late in OT, Trinity wins this one!
  15. My source who was at the game paints a different picture. Granted Holmes was without Rico but I heard TC rolled in the first half anbd it wasn't close. In the second, TC played mostly subs for the 3rd quarter, got down about 10, and then came back with the starters in the 4th and almost caught up. Sounds like Holmes has some work to do and congrats to TC who played hard!
  16. I think one thing has to be pointed out. Guyn played very well but as I remember he had at least two fouls early so the dynamics of the game may have been changed if he has to go the bench. Since fouls don't matter in a scrimmage, he kept playing. No doubt Scott Co. will be one of the favorites for state but you need to realize that Male will probably be ranked in the 3-7 range(they could certainly finish higher) in the 7th region and they were missing two starters! Should be a heck of a year!
  17. I think you have to add Seneca, Manual, Trinity, and Waggener to the list as potential teams to watch.
  18. I think this has to make Jtown the clear favorite for the 7th this year!
  19. Trinity will be solid returning Sewell and Little and they a have a good supporting cast. I agree, they will have work to do to get into the top 25! They may give people trouble although I would place them in a group below Manual and Jtown who should be the favorites. After that, I think you could see any of the following: Eastern, Ballard, Male, Trinity, and Seneca. Seneca will be the team that will raise some eyebrows with a solid group of young players returning(at least three or four of last year's starters) and the addition of Deonte Maddox + supposedly two quality transfers from New York area, assuming everybody's eligible? I agree with earlier posts that the 7th region will replace the 11th as the region with the most top 25 teams this season. Should be fun!!
  20. There is No reason this kid shouldn't be eligible!!! The family moved for good reason and nowhere have I seen anyone closely related to the family mention basketball as a contributing factor at all. Seems to me that the commissioner needs to look at each case as an individual and base decsions on the merits of each case and she didn't do that. That's not fair to the Kid!! Let him play!
  21. Ky Patriots (Chad Jackson, Dakota Euton,Josh Sewell,Austin Flannery, Donovan Gibbs, Chris Richard, Clay Coleman) beat Memphis YOMCA team by over 20 to reach 16U AAU final four in Orlando.
