We are coping with it, and we will not be wasting our time with basketball. Our son decided this, we didn't. He realized that they were not going to give him a chance and he has chosen to not waste his time. He didn't really want to play last year and went to the coaches to tell them only to have them talk him into it by telling him he would be used and play. They basically lied. So, folks can say what they want, but the football and baseball coaches at Corbin are much easier to work with when it comes to playing more than one sport. In fact, they encourage it. There are basketball coaches that try their best to get kids to play only basketball, talk athletes out of playing football, and if you don't show up for summer basketball, but are preparing for football, then don't expect to play; at least any significant minutes. They want you for a practice dummy only. The basketball coaches tried their best to talk Aaron Manns out of playing football. Aaron is 6'3", 270lbs, but he is a basketball player only? I don't think so. It would have been a huge mistake for him not to play football. He has college coaches from D-1 schools looking at him for FOOTBALL, however, not any at this level are currently looking at him for basketball. They are messing with these kids futures and it is not right. They also did a good job of burning Josh Crawford out in basketball, and because of this he most likely will not play again. Fortunately for him he will do well in whatever endeavor he chooses and has an academic scholly to Centre where he will pursue a law degree. Kids need to play whatever sport they want and be encouraged by all the coaches to do so. Coaches that do otherwise only care about themselves ---- not the kids. Really, sports should be about the kids, not the coaches.

The basketball coaches do make AAU a litmus test of who gets playing time and who doesn't. They should not but they do. It is a shame because there are many athletes that could help them if they would just utilize them. But that is the choice THEY make.

And if kids don't make that choice they are many times overlooked when basketball season rolls around. It is very difficult to play football and also play AAU. They are forcing to many kids to play one sport and hence there is a lot of burnout or injuries from the same repetitious movements. If AAU is going to be played then high school coaches should not hold it against a kid if they don't play, but many times they do.

I hope they make AAU illegal and stop burning these kids out on basketball. If football players choose not to play AAU in June, many times they don't play when the season starts. Give these kids a break!

Has he grown another inch? Rivals.com has him listed at 6'2". There is no 40 time listed.

Corey Sewell and Caleb Watkins mustered the only hits of the night. Watkins had a homerun but no one was on the base at the time so it scored only one run. Guess that is just how it goes. Baseball is like that, up and down. Pittman is an excellent pitcher and will give fits to any team he is up against.

We played Middlesboro tonight. Or, perhaps a better way to put it, they played us.

Pitching is definitely our achilles heal. I don't even know who would be considered our #1 and #2 pitchers. Vorbeck seems to be the most consistent. Caleb Watkins hasn't even pitched since little league and that was only occasionally . . . he comes in only when needed . . . and actually does a decent job considering he has never really pitched much before. We can play with anybody or anybody can beat us . . .it just depends on what team shows up.

It should be left up to the kid whether he plays football or not. No coach should try to discourage a kid from playing multiple sports. However, I know for a fact that Coach P does.

It is supposed to start raining at around 4 this afternoon. Still might not get to play.

So far its 9:42pm and I have not heard a word. By the time the game is over and the kids get home it will be around midnight, and then up at 5:30 to 6:00am, that works good on a teens body.

Thats too late for a baseball game on a school night. Some of those games last for ever. I hope it ends quick.

Danville and Corbin will be playing this year in the Cumberland Falls Pigskin Classic at Corbin. Boyle County will be playing Pikeville.

Yesterday was tax day but it was also the first day that Division I college coaches could phone recruits. Anybody get any calls?

Duncum is a good one and especially with the players. They loved him. He will not be coaching because he wants to spend more time with his boys. Coaching Football is a HUGE time commitment. He will be missed.

Caleb was cleared to play mid January. Just about 2 or so weeks after the football boys got back. He never ever expected to start but surely he could've contributed at least in games when we killing teams by 40+ points. But instead he chose to play younger players. . . even after he had told Caleb he would be used. It really doesn't matter now, Caleb is fine with football and baseball.

I thought that Coach P went to Tennessee as a walk on instead of LSU for a full ride . . . signing to play at a school is a big deal wonder why neither finished up. But, all that aside, there are simply a lot more football scholly's to go around than basketball scholly's and I hope Josh Crawford lands one.

There has been more Division 1 football players to come out of Corbin than D1 basketball players in recent past. Can you tell me the last D1 basketball player to come out of Corbin? (And its my hope that Josh Crawford will be one of them). There are more scholarships to go around in football than basketball. Besides its not just D1 that offer money for college. I can't remember one D1 basketball player to come out of Corbin in the last 40 years.

I can't recall them but there were several. I can almost bet that Josh could've played D1 football at tightend. But my point in all of this is to say, if a kid wants to play three sports in high school for heaven sakes encourage them to do so . . . no other time in their lives will this ever again be possible. You can argue all you want about how many this and how many that but Josh and a number of others could've contributed in football if they had been encouraged to do so.:walk:

Didn't start playing High School football until he was a sophomore. You don't think Isaac is a tuff nut? He is as aggressive as a tiger on the basketball court . . . believe me it would have transferred over.

Crawford (Josh) could've been playing Division I Tight End at any college he wanted to if he had played.:thumb:
