Someone in this thread stated that Russell is still Russell. Are they really? I don't see how a relatively small school can keep producing talent that goes to back to back championship game. Maybe they are still Russell but knowing the talent they have lost the last couple of years and also seeing their jv/fr talent the last few years, quite frankly I don't see them being the Russell of the last two seasons. Now grant it they will be good and they will compete but to just throw it out there and say "Russell is Russell"...I don't agree just yet. They did beat Greenup rather easily but from what I hear so did East Carter and we saw what East did offensively verses Bath County and Boyd County...7 points in two games. Let's see how the Devils do verses Boyd before we put them in Louisville again.

This really is an interesting game. East Carter has nearly everyone back on both sides of the ball and have beaten fairview the last couple of games I believe. Fairview has lost several key players from last years team. Add to the mix new head coaches for both sides. I will go with the homefield advantage and give the edge to East Carter.

anything but a snoozer...very exciting game. Boyd had a touchdown called back on penalty in the first half. East had an interception returned inside the 5 which was called back due to penalty of some sort. Boyd had lots of turnovers as mentioned. Hard hitting game! Would put the contact level up with anyone. Lots of pads popping for sure. Both offenses look to be "finding themselves" and were far behind the agressive defense of both teams. I enjoyed the game tremendously because both teams looked to be playing hard, hitting hard and having a good time. Win or lose, it's tough to ask for more than that.

To all those predicting an easy Boyd County "W"...words of caution "those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it." BC fans know the history of this match-up. By the way, the game time has been pushed back to 8:30 due to heat forcast.

Did anyone report on the Greenup and East scrimmage? Just saw one thread that looked to be locked out for some reason with no replies. If anyone saw the scrimmage could you provide a report?

Possibly full squad practice one day....special teams the next morning? Possibly full squad practice one day....group weights and conditioning the next morning? Possibly full squad practice one day....only freshman the next morning? They could have had full practice one day and then the power went out and most everyone's alarm clock's failed the next morning. Whatever the reason, if the right 20 were the ones practicing they will still be pretty good! What are you thinking might be the reason FAComet? Or anyone else in the know?

East Carter was very young last year. Only 5 seniors on the roster. We should be better based solely on the number of players returning. Just how much better is yet to be determined. A good winter, spring and summer is a must on the field and in the weightroom.

Got to see the Rock play at Johnson Central...once again very physical team. Looked like they didn't play very many players and most of them seniors at that. What are the prospects for Rockcastle next season? Will they rebuild or reload?

numerous reasons for the postponement... echs is having major construction done to the school. The only way to the football field is through the construction zone. Things were just drying up from the 6 inches of rain that fell in grayson less than two weeks ago before they got the deluge of rain all day today. Just getting to the field is a quagmire. East Carter has gone all year with no practice field due to construction. All practice done on game field...along with jfl, middle school, fr and jv games. The raceland weekend of games tore the field up...had to be closed for two weeks...team went to kcu to practice. Another game under its current condition would have killed the field for the remainder of the season leaving the raiders searching for a practice field again and an even worse than normal game field. The decision to postpone the game is just another fallout from a very trying building project at the high school. For the record East Carter has played two other monday night football games at Rowan County in the early 90's and at Estill County in 2004.
