Clay has had a tough draw the last three years as well. Clay has a young team this season, that maybe the favorite in the 13th next year. Of Course, those are only excuses in the eyes of many folks. How long has it been since Clay was in the finals of the 13th?

The officals are from the 15th region? I thought Mike Walker would be one of the top rated ones over there and I did not see him calling a game last night? Could it be the referees last night were not the top 6 as voted on by the region?

If Middlesboro has a great shooting game and Green comes to play they could give South all they want. The Jackets will need to find a way to contain St. John ( See Clay County) and rebound the ball in order to pull off the upset.

He is a nice player. His game is similar to KenDale Reed number 25 from Clay County. Both are good athletes who can really jump for their size. Watch these two kids in warm ups. They can both throw it down.

Is the Watkins boy who plays for South originally from Clay County? Perhaps he just has family from over in the Manchester area?

There are few who can X and O with Coach Denney anywhere in the state. Coach Spurlock has won at every stop and will no doubt have Clay playing well tonight. He won the region at Hazard as well as an ALL A Championship. I would say the folks at Clay did a little research before they hired him and he was exactly what they wanted for a leader. It comes down to making plays, Coaches can only do so much and then the players must make the plays, IMO. I am not sure how well the Cards know the Tigers. I am certain most of their scouting time has been spent on the road with the Redhounds this season.

Clay will need to make a few outside shots in this one. I can not see them getting many good looks around the rim, unless of course, fouls are called on the South Big Man. Should be a good game and end in an exciting fashion.

I agree. Plus South had not lost a 50th district game in the post season since moving to the 13th. Now they are trying to continue the unbeaten streak in the regional tournament as well. It is hard to ever think of South Laurel as an underdog.

South should feel pretty good about their chances of making the finals.

We shall see about that. Too good of a game to blame officals.

I wonder if games would flow smoother if the officals in the region would only call the game and not talk to the coaches or players, report the fouls after running to the table, promptly inbound the ball on time outs and quarters, return the ball to the foul shooter without delay. I would dare say it would shorten the game by 15 to 30 minutes easily. Too much dead time. Watch games in the state tourney, college and the 12th and 11th regions.

I think they missed some walks and one goal tend as well. It was an even called game, neither side can complain and both teams had a chance to win in the final minutes. That is about all you can ask.

Good win for the Hounds. It would not surprise me to see these two battle it out in the regional finals for the third year in a row. South played well. Corbin played well in spurts. Great game to watch for the fans of the 50th district. St. John had 25 and Johnson 26 and Crawford 17 for the Hounds. Aaron Manns had 11, Wilson 6 and Smith 6. I want to say Dean had 13 and Smith 10 for the Cards. Good luck to both teams in the region.

What did Corbin and South shoot from the field in each of the previous three matchups? I think the team that shoots the ball best from the field will come out on top. I can not see many fouls called in this game. Both teams will play physical but clean basketball and both teams know how to play that way without fouling. I have not seen Corbin double the post in any games this season, what makes you think they will try that this time around Les? It would not surprise me to see the Hounds pack in a tight zone and see if South can fire away from behind the arc or press the Cards from start to finish and see if they can get into their bench late in the game.

How many games did Harlan County cancel this season for reasons unknown to most? I know the Whitley game was cancelled as well due to sickness.

Just want them to get their fair shake. Not world beaters, but far better than they used to be. They play a better brand of basketball than they used to. Coach Pennington is a good coach. Like many in small schools he is faced with many things most do not understand. It is easy to win with talent and numbers. Small school coaches have to really over achieve to get any credit. I for one like him, he calls it like he sees it. That does not go over well with some but a straight shooter is hard to find these days.

Might be the Denney and Wright show according to alot of folks in the area. I could hear only one voice on the radio near the South bench...it did have a Southern draw to it.

Yepper and the time when the Glory on Ice took place...brought a tear to my eyes. Congrats to South....the loser of the 50th will have most teams in the 13th shakin in their shoes again this season come draw for the regional.

Bubba's basketball preview will hit the stands in Early October next year...lol I always wanted to write my own top ten list of teams and players. What is the pay at the HDE? It has to be close to the Herald and the Courier.

Perhaps....I was mistaken....I can admit when I am wrong. Plus I thought David Sizemore would be playing and I did not anticipate an knee injury to Cody Mobley either. Those two players would have made a little difference HDE. Even you with you crystal ball could not have known that. An Orator I am not.
