IMO everybody justs needs to get over it. It is what it is. you win 5 games your state champs; you lose one your out. You are always going to have teams with easier roads than others. Whether you agree with the format or not it is here and I am sure the KSHAA did not look at each team and pick this format to give one team an easier road than the other. It really only changes the first round matchups in many cases anyway. It is obvious by this thread that people just hate change. You have one group complaining that they hate the playoffs because of boring games against weak district teams that they have already blown out. So they don't like it because they feel they are playing weak competion for a second time. Then you have the other side complaining that they are having to play a third or fourth seed in their district that has only one loss just like they do. So they are complaining that they are having to play to many high ranked teams to get to the state championship. And guess what it all changes again next year. I just can't wait to read this same thread next year... :rolleyes:

Again not trying to rehash last year. The posters original statement was that BG, Cov Cath and HHS was far above everyone else. I was actually thinking of the Rock game vs. Lex cath as compared to BG's game against Lex Cath. Once again I did not remeber the exact score of the Cov Cath game. Sorry about the confusion but I still stick by my point that it seems that many people are looking past round 3.

As far as the score is concerned I agree. The Rock was a much tighter game until late in the game. Big play late in the game changed the momentum tremendously. My point was only that it seems some JC fans are over looking their 3rd round game. Not looking to rehash last year.

I would move Cov Cath above Lex Cath and think about putting them above Johnson Central but everything else is probably okay.

You have both Rock and Bell in the top ten. Both have successful playoff experience. Rock played Lex Cath. better than anyone in last years playoffs including BG. It just seems this game is being down played. Bad idea!!! Very Bad Idea!!!!!!! :D

Might be a slight favorite due to home field advantage but not a big favorite over the Rock or Bell IMO. Both are top 10 teams as well.

New system, old system. Bottom line is you got to win 5 games to be statechamps. You are still playing the same seeds just in your own district instead of the other district. Top seeds still get home field. Not much difference between systems except for playing someone from your own district in Round 1. Many teams ended up meeting someone from their own district in round 2 anyway. Also this ensures each district is represented in round 3 which I believe was an influence on why this decision was made, but we will never truly know the whole story so lets just get over it and enjoy the next 5 weeks of Kentucky HS football.:dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa

The Rock will not give up 5 TD's on defense. Upsets are always possible but would probably have to be a very low scoring game. IMO

Cov Cath/Highlands only have 3 district games each. Most districts have more district games plus local rivalries leave little room for other games. This will change next year. This is a discussion for another thread. My only point on this thread was the "Little Sisters" comment was disrespectful IMO.

I live in NKY so we are on equal elevations. I graduated from the Rock and remember the last time we played both of these teams. No one from NKY was bragging after those games. I have a lot of respect for both of these programs, but I hate arrogance from anyone. I have never said anything negative about NKY and I have never said that JC played as tuff of a schedule as the NKY teams. If you notice I do not post replies to most messages claiming that the NKY teams are top teams but when people start making comments like "Little Sisters of the Poor" then that is offensive to me. Sorry you feel the need to support those type of comments.

These two programs are great programs but, your arrogant comments about the eastern Ky teams are just crazy. Whoever wins this district will have their hands full with either JC, Bell or the Rock. I'm looking forward to round 3 whoever plays the NKY winner.

I agree. Most people don't remember a Rockcastle team a couple of years before Coach Larkey came to the Rock. A very good football team that won the district over Bell and a very good Cawood team at the time. The Rock had a very good running back by the name of Scottie Robinson who was nip and tuck with Mark Higgs as the rushing leader all year. First round of the playoffs the Rock hosted Danville at home only to have a 3 year starter as the QB go down to an injury very early in the game. Season over!!!!! It may have been the best chance at beating Danville the Rock has had.

Mathematically speaking there is a very valid counter argument that this is much worse than 4A in the past. As your total number of players get larger even though you have the opportunity to have more quality talent there is a point of diminishing returns because you can only play 11 players at a time. The point being that at the 2A level your chances of having a great quarter back in 100 boys is 50% that of an enrollment of 200, but at some number your percentages are very high at having one great quarterback. Now at that point some teams may end up with two great quarterbacks and some only one. As long as the starter stays healthy his team has an equal shot at competing as the team with two. The big question is where is that magical number of diminishing returns. I don't know the exact number and I don't think anyone here does.

Whoever ends up as the 3 seed in NKY 4A has a shot until they get to the louisville buzz saw.

It is not like they are running away with this poll. Also if you combine districts and only look at regions then Region 3 and region 4 are almost at a dead heat. Third it would be interesting to see how many teams are represented in each district. Or better yet how many teams with winning records in each district. My point is only that teams that are not doing well for the most part probably are not going to spend a great deal of time on BGP.

I don't see anyone on this thread griping. This thread was created by a Mercer fan. Many of the Mercer fans feel the need to defend their situation. The point made by most is Mercer got a break and most people are okay with that but don't try to convince everyone that there is not an advantage by having such a large school playing in a lower class. I have said on several threads on this topic that you play the hand that is dealt to you.

I can see making them run, maybe even taking away their starting job for a game, but the seniors are still not being allowed to play in their next game this Friday night. They have three games left in their HS career. This guy is a nut. There is no more to the story in my opinion.
