The announcers thought the NCC kid got in the endzone, too, but, regardless, when you're at the 1 foot line with 3 downs to get it in, you can't use that as an excuse and make a claim that that ruined the game. I think the penalties thereafter were there downfall and that's no fault of any calls the refs made. Even had they scored and tied it up, Ft C scored shortly thereafter and NCC would have had to have scored again which they didn't do.

Only because of the draw and if you think any different, you're wrong and 1 year does not make a power. I think Ryle has the program headed in the right direction, but, they aren't a power, especially in 6a. When we're talking 26 cons years of having a team from an area in the finals, 1 year for 1 team falls in that 10% I was talking about. Would you call Lone Oak a power? Me either

Yes, very few...9 out of 10 yrs on average, T or X is the Top team.. Don't kid yourself..

Who is Hardin?

You gotta be kidding me. These teams are good, but, thats as far as it goes. It's not like there aren't teams from every area that could play with them on an even keel or better...

Besides St X, the other best wins were Ballard, PRP, Central and Male. Ballard was talented but inconsistent(See Male loss), PRP was overrated, as they are every year(IMO), Central is a 3a team that Manual should handle and probably by a bigger margin and Male may have had there worse team in 10 years. I think BG handles all these teams and imo, John Hardin and Owensboro are stronger than any of the 4 and certainly Highlands and Trinity are. Like others have said, its all opinions and honestly, theres not much difference in #4 and 5, anyway.

Ryle, Boone, Dixie are decent programs, not really good programs that are competing for state championships...Every area, N,S,E,W have teams that can compete with these teams. Sorry, but true..

Like I said, this is an opinion poll(kind of like the BCS, huh) and John Hardin could definately be in the conversation. They may well be better than Owensboro, but, I guess I know them a little better and the road win at Boone Co was pretty impressive to me. I felt they were a little better than what the rankings were giving them, all year. I think BGreen would have handled Manual and they were more impressive throughout the year. BG got beat by a very strong Highlands team, no disgrace in that. I don't think Manual would have fared any better. Lastly, I don't like to compare scores against common opponents, especially in the playoffs. I think most people would tell you BG played a better game, at least in the 2nd half, against Owensboro, then thay did against JH.

And I bet, Highlands & Beechwood are represented 90% of those years. There are 3-4 really good programs in NKy, but, it seems like the entire area wants to take credit for how great that areas football is, when in reality, its a handful of programs, no different then when Louisville takes credit for being the best area, when in reality, it's St X and Trinity and occasionally Male, 2 elite programs with 1 other occasionally getting a sniff. Central Ky has done the same in the past when it was traditionally Boyle Co and Danville with Bardstown in there occasionnally. IMO, the area a team plays in has much less to do with anything than the teams themselves, the teams i mentioned above.

I picked the Central/Belfry because I felt all year, Belfry was the best 3a team head and shoulders above anyone else. Then when Tilghman, who was depleted by injuries, and pretty 1 dimentional all year, took Central to the wire, I really expected Belfry to roll. Even though Beechwood won, the close call was also very surprising to me. This game could have gone either way and if LCA would have won, I'd have picked this game. I knew the 6a game could have gone either way. Big rivalry game and 2 evenly matched teams. I wasn't surprised Highlands won, but, a little surprised with the score.. Same with Lex Catholic. I felt the NCC/Ft Campbell game could go either way, depending on the breaks, turnovers, penalties, etc. and not real surprised with the outcome.

Out of the 17 championships, how many were undefeated?

I don't really like the 6 class system either. I could live with 5. Look at 1a for example. If they added 6-8 schools, some of the next smallest 2a schools are Somerset, Metcalfe Co, Green Co, Murray, NCC, Bardstown and Middlesboro. How much tougher would that make 1a? That would also add Breathitt Co, Russell and some other good programs to 2a, so it wouldn't be hurt that bad. I wish they would give 5 classes some serious thought. It would, if nothing else, eliminate 4 team districts and possible 0 win teams making the playoffs..

I think Lex Catholic is to the point in there program that they would rather play up. When you can dress 85-90 kids, you should play the bigger schools. They may not have beaten a great Highlands team this year or a great CC team last year, but, they would have there years they were the better team, like in 05...Just my opinion..

I agree. I think they're the dominant 4a team, bar none, and would be a better fit for the 5a class. Nothing against Bell Co, Lone Oak, Bullitt East, etc., but, Lex Catholic, on numbers alone, are on a different level right now.

All Lex Cath in this one. Just too much speed and size in the lines. Robinson was running for his life for the biggest part of the game. Congrats LC on another state title and to Lone Oak for accomplishing something you'll remember the rest of your lives. Super year and the WKy folks are very proud of you...

I remember those late 70s, early 80s games with Mayfield & Ft Campbell. They had some wars, for sure. FTC also beat a very, very good Pikeville team there 1st year in 2a, I believe it was 78 or 79. They were loaded that year. That Mayfield team in 80 had 2 of the best RBs in Mayfield history with Marcus Moss and Jon Redd and a bigtime FB/LB in Pinky Parrott.

Congrats to the Falcons on a very impressive showing on both sides of the ball. They reminded me alot of some of the past Danville teams with there athleticism and ball pursuit and alot of different people making big plays. Surprisingly, NCC shot themselves in the foot a number of times and killed any momentum they were trying to get going. These teams sounded very equal in talent, it just wasn't NCCs day. Sounded like a great game, though, by both teams...

Congratulations Beechies...Way to keep playing through adversity and showing alot of character and heart in your comeback victory...Also, congrats to LCA, who proved to me, at least, that they belonged in the finals and for the gutsy call on 4th down. I liked it... If this 1st game is any indication of what these finals are going to be like, there's going to be alot of fun over the next couple of days...WOW..
