Which State Championship Game outcome surprised you the most? Not neccassarly by the rankings, but which game were you personally surprised with. Surprised by the winner, or by the margin of victory.

6A Trinity 34 St. Xavier 8 (OT)

5A Highlands 28 Bowling Green 7

4A Lexington Catholic 48 Lone Oak 7

3A Central 27 Belfry 17

2A Fort Campbell 21 NCC 7

1A Beechwood 38 LCA 35

Personally, I was surprised by the Fort Campbell/NCC game. I thought NCC would win this game, but I guess someone forgot to tell Fort Campbell they were supposed to lose.

It sounded on the radio like the Breds thought they had won the game by just showing up...You have to come to play every game..

IMO the Central over Belfry was the most surprising win. Of course as a Fort Campbell Parent it did not surprise me that they won. I find it interesting that 3 of the 6 winners were considered underdogs by BGP (and most rankings) and that the private verses public debate ended up split with 2 wins going to public schools and 2 going to private schools (of course 6A was never a question). With all of that said I would say that the six class system worked pretty well. Of course my team won, so I’m biased, but that is my opinion.

It would have to be the NCC/Ft Campbell game, weren't all the other winners suppose to win?

I believe Belfry and St. X were each picked to win, at least by BGPers.

For me it was the LexCath/Lone Oak game. I chose this game not because LC won (I felt they would), but because the margin of victory was much more than I anticipated it would be. Even though I knew LO was one dimensional going in, I thought they would have more success with some big plays to score a few more TD's.

I picked the Central/Belfry because I felt all year, Belfry was the best 3a team head and shoulders above anyone else. Then when Tilghman, who was depleted by injuries, and pretty 1 dimentional all year, took Central to the wire, I really expected Belfry to roll.

Even though Beechwood won, the close call was also very surprising to me. This game could have gone either way and if LCA would have won, I'd have picked this game.

I knew the 6a game could have gone either way. Big rivalry game and 2 evenly matched teams.

I wasn't surprised Highlands won, but, a little surprised with the score.. Same with Lex Catholic.

I felt the NCC/Ft Campbell game could go either way, depending on the breaks, turnovers, penalties, etc. and not real surprised with the outcome.

1-A: Suprised LCA was in the hunt to the very end, with a pretty young team.

2-A: Suprised Fort Campbell shut NCC's offense down like they did.

3-A: Got blinded by Central's loss at Johnson Central, even though I knew they could match Belfry on the physical front, and had better athletes.

4-A: Even with a weak schedule, I didn't think Lone Oak would get rolled so bad.

5-A: Didn't think Highlands would shut down BG like they did. I was expecting a 45-42 game.

6-A: No surprise, Beatty wins - when it matters the most.

I had NCC picked prior to showing up at the game, but watching them in Pregame I told my buddy that based on appearance alone, I thought FC would man handled NCC, but wasnt sure if they were gonna be well coached, but they were, although that double reverse pass play FC ran in the 4th quarter where the QB fumbled it, I thought was probably the worst play call ever, however had it went for a long TD then it would have been great, but you just dont run that play when your backed up that far in your own territory

A ... I'm surprised that Lexington Christian kept it as close as they did.

The 2A game was a bit of a surprise to some, but the game was closer than the final score. I expected a close game, and until the final three minutes or so, it was.

Statistically, Ft. Campbell was dominant enough statistically that I don't think anyone could argue the better team lost. I'm thinking the hype NewCath accrued through the regular season played a big part in this poll.

The Belfry game surprised me. Central's poor performance at Johnson Central led me down the path of wrong thinking (that's what I'm calling it).
