  1. Orlando played for Owensboro. Greg Bahn I believed passed away recently.
  2. Morris played at Southern Miss correct. Shot the ball southpaw and could jump out of a gym.
  3. I think Turner was Louisville bound, but got into trouble during the spring or summer and never reached campus.
  4. Did Brown and Turner ever play a second of D1 ball? I do know they did commit to play D1, but what happened?
  5. Dang! Was trying to post some feel good news for the UK fans...OOPS!
  6. Even if the list were to stop at 10 players going D1 for '07, that is something for our state to be proud of. Across the board on any level, Kentucky high school hoops places a great deal of kids in situations that earn them a free education every year. Hopefully the number of kids earning a free-ride continues to go up each and every year and in every region of the state no matter if its D1 or NAIA!
  7. Add J'Mison Morgan to the list along with confirmations that Ralph Sampson III and DeAndre Liggins will also be there too per KSR.
  8. This is a great example. Very consistent with Kentucky's talent pool.
  9. So the state of Kentucky as a whole had 10 D1 scholarships taken by the class of 2007.
  10. We are now up to ten (10) Division 1 scholarships for the entire state of Kentucky for the 2007 class including the one that went prep. When was the last time any school had multiple D-1 signees graduating together (other than Scott County which I am guessing they have had from reading other threads)? When has there ever been 3 D1 signees graduating together from the same school?
  11. Jeff Brooks - Penn State - Doss Tanner Jacobs - Kennesaw State - Trinity That is just 8 players so far for the entire '07 class in Kentucky. I am not sure, but wasn't Dan Penick a player from the '06 class? Is yes, that means only 7 players from the '07 class with D1 programs now.
  12. I think Louisville as a city only put two kids in D-1 basketball last year, not sure. I believe only Jeff Brooks (Penn State) and Tanner Jacobs (Kennesaw State) are now with a D1 program. Does anyone know how many players in the 11th region went D1? Matt Walls to Marshall is one. Three players graduating the same year off one team to play D1 basketball is extremely impressive. It would be a great story if it does indeed happen.
  13. That is great news. It looks as if coach Horn and staff are going after the Kentucky kids with offers already extended to '09's Madisonville 6-6 guard Jon Hood and Louisville DuPont Manual 6-4 guard Jacob Jenkins.
  14. Curious to how Manual can be left off. They finished in the final state poll in the top 20, return four starters, return their top four scorers, and have a new coach that has led Iroquois to two regional titles in the 6th region in the past 7 years with coach Jimmy Just. Manual returns a senior point guard that led the Crimson in assists in Aaron Williams, the state's top junior shooting guard in 6-4 Jacob Jenkins who led Manual in scoring and rebounding and was one of the state's top 3 point shooters, 6-2 Aaron Cosby is one of the state's top sophs and will move into the starting line-up that will make a huge impact. Manual will have one of the best back-courts in the state for the next 2 years. Then add swingman 6-4 Tony Kimbro Jr. who many feel is the state's top frosh and you've got a team that will be a tough out come regional and possibly even state tourney time. The Catspause does a great job with the team rankings, but when you hear talk amongst coaches and fans about the Louisville teams Manual is the one most see as the favorites in the 7th. You can also include Trinity in the top-tier. The Shamrocks will be tough with four returning starters including 6-2 Matt Chambless, one of the state's top sophs in 6-4 Josh Sewell, 6-1 PG Aaron Tierney, and 6-6 280lbs PF Sam Robey. Coach Szabo will have this team in contention for a regional run without a doubt. You need to also factor in Eastern who returns two starters and top players in guard Steven Ferguson (a scorer) and 6-8 Darrin Williams who is a post player who really developed his game over the summer and is one of the state's best true post players. The 7th is a little different this year with Jeffersontown losing its stars in Rod Basey and 6-9 Thomas Coleman and also losing projected starter Don Richardson, who transferred to Waggener. Ballard returns only one starter which is 6-0 SG David Stanley, but will insert a tough 6-0 guard in Josh Chiles into the starting line-up and have experience with forward TJ Pryor coming back. And as always, the Bruins have some additional talent stockpiled. Make no mistake about it, the Bruins and Chargers both will have a say in the regional crown this year as they do every year. The 7th Region will always have great depth and will have a team competing for a state title just as they have done the past two years, winning one state title (Jeffersontown) and nearly doing it back to back with Ballard last year had it not been to a certain player scoring 20 second half points.
  15. Not trying to seem "sarcastic" here but even if Mason had 3 teams last year GRC would still be the one team out of those four (3 Mason, 1 GRC) to go to Rupp representing the 10th region last year. Mason is the favorite for sure this year and will need all that talent collectively to give them the best chance to reach Rupp.
  16. Well, here's my 2 cents worth: Clay County's junior QB Zach Lewis threw for over 400 yards in a win against Lynn Camp. On pace to break the all time passing yards in KY HS football. If the Manual vs Central was the state's biggest game on opening night, then I believe senior Rhyven (sp) Smith rushing for all 3 of Manual's TDs in their win over highly touted Central deserves a look.
  17. Lexington Catholic will definately be a contender for the 11th Region. And should they win the toughest region in the state, they would be a strong pick to take the Sweet 16. The trio of Novosel, Smart, and Stewart may just be the best trio in the state this year. Stewart may be one of the biggest surprises over the summer has he showed great development and was one of the top campers at the UC Elite Camp. I've read the skeptics opinions on here about Botkins. Botkins is NOT a flashy player and will not be setting any gym on fire with fancy dribbling or shooting. What he will do is what the coach ask and he will do as instructed with 110% effort. He's efficient and doesn't make hardly any mental miskates. He has poise and will do a fine job on both ends of the court for an extremely balanced and disciplined LC squad.
  18. What about Zach Lewis QB for Clay County? Didn't he throw for 400+ yards first game against Lynn Camp? Or something like that. Word is that Lewis will break the all-time passing yards in Kentucky HS.
  19. I recall listening to that game while watching it. We turned down the volume on the TV to hear Cawood Ledford call what was to be his last game. After the shot and the sheer shock of it all, coach K came right over to Leford and told him he was sorry there had to be a team lose in that game. Ledford called his best in the greatest game in college history. Now, regarding Mr. Farley, didn't he do a commercial with a UK uniform on too?
  20. Losing Thomas Coleman at 6'8 and Rashard Basey their floor leader is tough on any team. That's a ton of rebounds and their 2 best defenders and scorers. Jeffersontown will be solid but will be coach's 4th or 5th pick in the 7th.
  21. 1. Scott County 2. Lexington Catholic 3. Mason County 4. Madison Central 5. Louisville Manual 6. Henry Clay 7. Bryan Station 8. Pleasure Ridge Park 9. Christian County 10. Louisville Male 11. Tates Creek 12. Apollo 13. Covington Holmes 14. North Hardin 15. Louisville Ballard 16. Madisonville-North Hopkins 17. June Buchanan 18. Warren Central 19. Elliott Country 20. DeSales 21. University Heights (UHA) 22. Louisville Trinity 23. Rose Hill 24. Cumberland 25. Hazard
  22. The DS Allstars 16s have now exited the event in a 17 point loss.
  23. I agree! He never takes a shot inside the arc. Nice shooting.
  24. Both DS Allstars 17's team have vacated the tourney now with 1st round losses. DS Allstars West lose by 30 against Gateway. They did play well in pool play.
