  1. You may want to note Beckham has verballed to IUPUI.
  2. Good points. Euton has potential for sure. But in order to get listed in those categories, it does take funds to travel to the events you have to play in order to be seen. Not every kid gets to go because of financial constraints. Bottomline, let the season play out and then make your decisions. Rose Hill plays an easy schedule, but they do travel to Louisville for the King of the Bluegrass. I would like to see Rose Hill paired with Doss or ETown, then we would know more if the rankings are legit. Its coming, just around the corner.
  3. The list was written by Mark Maynard for the 16th. The 15th was written by Steve LeMaster.
  4. Those numbers are just hurting the 16th Region and proving to the rest of the state that the 16th is where 7th graders can go to compete. I had a chance to see Euton in Lexington. At times, he looked lethargic, but his height gives him potential and that is certain. But you cannot fool those who have witnessed. Let's take a look here... Darius Miller averaged 16 per game last year and has offers from UK and UT, among others. Bud Mackey averaged 12 or 13 per game and has offers from UK and others. Jeff Brooks averaged just 11 per game last year and has a multitude of offers. Scotty Hopson averaged just over 10 per game last season is getting offers from D1 top programs as well. If points per game was any indicator, then the 16th would have about 30 players that average more than these guys and would be getting D1 offers out the wahoo. Keep things in perspective.
  5. You might want to add that Rose was 1-7 in the 16th Region, zero games against any KY teams ranked in the top 25, and lost their first round district game ending their season. Two of the their wins in their 14 - 13 season was against hapless David School. I am certain I could pull some current 8th graders together this year and get the same if not better results as they did. So when you take a look at their numbers, they are just not as impressive as you would like them to be. Just an opinion.
  6. Could they do that in other regions in Kentucky? I don't think he was bashing those kids as much as he is truthfully trying to state other kids are being unfairly passed over. How would anyone like to work hard and improved their game and legitimately have better skills than another player then others get the recognition because of who they know?
  7. Jamarrious Sykes, 7'1" Sophomore, North Hardin. And no, he cannot chew gum and walk at the same time, but still 7'1" is 7'1".
  8. The Bolus rankings are way off with the senior group and even more off with the underclassmen... EastBank...You obviously have not seen 6'6" Nathan Novosel of Lex Cath and 6'2" Shelvin Mack of Bryan Station, both are juniors and both belong in the top 5. But I can see the angle you are coming from. And a legit ranking would certainly have Jeff Brooks ahead of Wade who will not sign a D1 scholly and will possibly be lucky to even head to an NAIA team. Where is Beckham and Jeremy Anderson at on the senior list?
  9. Its Hamilton and Beckham at Ballard. Johnson and Hudson combo is only half legit since Hudson cannot hit a jumper outside of 3 feet from the basket. Hands-down the best backcourt in the state is Scott County's Walls and Mackey. Don't think the Faulkners would make a legit top 30 list in top backcourts in KY. Mackey-Walls Scott County Beckham-Hamilton Ballard Britt-Anderson Warren Central Jefferson-Hill Cov Holmes Beaumont-Karree Male And I am not sure who the running partner is with PG Shelvin Mack, but I would venture to say whoever it is along with Mack they would be TOP 10 as well.
  10. At Moses height, he does assert himself. Just needs to develop a perimeter game and some handles. What about Aaron Boyd, a legit guard for HC?
  11. Juniors - Scotty Hopson (UHA) Shelvin Mack (Bryan Station) Darius Miller (Mason County) Bud Mackey (Scott County) Nathan Novesel (Lexington Cath) Sophomores - Jacob Jenkins (Manual) Richie Phares (Scott County) Josh Crawford (Corbin)
  12. Moses plays in Lexington, therefore he wont get the hype that he deserves nor will the legit players in Louisville. I talk to enough people in college hoops scouting services to know that Moses is NOT being overlooked!
  13. I do understand AAU all too well. I just do not understand how a kid is getting hype for playing down. Those arouond him should play him to where he will gain skills and knowledge, not trying to get him ranked by playing kids younger. Let's hope this Rose Hill kid gets some "good" advice.
  14. Age wise Jackson should be a sophomore. Talent wise, why would he play in the 14 under division in AAU???? How in the world does that help him or his game???? He should be playing in the 15 under. You have some kids in Kentucky that were true frosh (not held back) and playing in the 16 under and 17 under levels. So just how good is Chad Jackson? Why did he play down a level?
  15. What is Chad Jackson's age? Heard he was 15 for sure. Is he a hold back? Should he be in the 10th grade? Just curious. He is a good ball player.
  16. I agree with Chad Jackson possibly being on the list. Only in the 16th does a frosh ever have a chance to be listed as one of the best. Every year the 16th has a frosh taking the seniors spots.
  17. Who do you boot out of the top 5 in the 16th to make room for McDavid in the game against the 11th region and other regions in the state?????
  18. Great! Now let us match them up with other regions in the state starting with the 11th Region team. Game #1 Region #11 vs Region #16 Starting 5 September 2, 2pm Region 11 PG Shelvin Mack 6'2" SG Bud Mackey 6'3" SF Aaron Boyd 6'3" PF Victor Moses 6'4" C/F Nathan Novosel 6'6" 6th Man Aaron Morris 6'5" (note: All are Juniors) Region 16 PG Barker 5'9" SG Vanhoose 6'4" SF Ferguson 6'2" PF Euton 6'6" C Haney 6'4" 6th Man McDavid 6'3" I say the 16th Region has the edge! Any other regions out there???
  19. Not sure where this thread is heading, but the true reason you play in these events is to help the "kids" that play gain some exposure and enjoy the competitive atmosphere. There's nothing like the big time tourneys, but even then those tourneys are designed to let college coaches see the kids. Should a team win and go to the final four or even win it all, it is just that many more games that players can be seen and have the opportunity to shine! Realistically, a lot of players can be on a 3 games and done team and still benefit just as much as the kids that win and go deep in to the tourney. It appears the Patriots have done just that. What more can you ask?????? By the way, there are some players and teams that play up one and two levels and if they should lose early it does not matter. In fact, it actually helps if a 15 year old kid competes in the 17 under division and is able to put up even average numbers imagine the benefits. It really is about helping kids be seen and hoping that a college likes what they see so that the end result is a kid getting a free education and a shot at a better future. The trophy will collect dust, but the education will provide a future!
  20. They lost in the first round. Moved to the loser's bracket and have won two straight. Should they win out this bracket they could finish as high as 8th.
  21. There were better perimeter teams than J-Town in the the 7th Region and at the state tourney last year. The Chargers got it done.
  22. Scott County will be preseason #1. Others filling out the top 10 (no order): Ballard Bryan Station Doss Male Lexington Catholic South Laurel Madison Central Warren Central Elizabethtown Sfan..."Not sure about Holmes ?????? I would add Louisville Central". Holmes has a great deal of talent and some depth returning. Louisville Central has lost their leader Leroy Nobles and lost nearly twice as many summer games as they won, including losing twice to South Oldham convincingly. The freshman class that was heralded is not developing and one of them is suspended for attitude issues. Please explain how Central is ahead of Holmes when Central is being mentioned on other boards as being one of the 5th to 9th teams just in their own region much less the state.
