Trinity vs. St. Xavier Class 6A Semifinal
In all due respect to Mr Moore who I haven't seen, I would take Jalen Carter from Manual as the best WR we have seen this year. Fast and great hands.

6A Playoffs St. Xavier/Male Predictions
29 times in a row, I believe. As to the crowd, U of L and UK played Friday night in basketball. When Male and St X played in the regular season, U of L played Duke at Papa Johns and the crowd was sparse. They missed a heck of a game.

6A Playoffs St. Xavier/Male Predictions
Can I ask a favor? Can anyone with "shamrock", or "trinity" in their name stop bashing caliber of the game, parking, and view from the visitors side until the winner of this game plays at Marshall stadium next week? Rumor has it that Papa Johns may not be available and we can discuss inadequacies at that point. I think any time the defending state champion is still in the next tournament makes it a huge game.

6A Playoffs St. Xavier/Male Predictions
The whole program is playing well. Freshmen team went 10-0. JV went 10-0. Varsity won district for the first time since 2009. 3 varsity losses were to 6A #1, 5A #1, and Cincy St X who beat undefeated and nationally ranked Colerain on Friday. You can watch the game on Friday at Saint Xavier: Game Broadcasts or listen to it on iheart radio if outside Louisville or 50,000 WATT Clear Channel WKRD 790. Reasons why? Offensive and Defensive Coordinator stability, Improvement of Skill positions, and overall team depth. They have played all 107 players in 5 games this year. Add that to the 10 JV games and the back ups have all gotten reps. They lost their Flanker Blake Roshkowski for the season and their Division 1 kicker and haven't missed a beat. They get another new player for Male thought should share carries with Sam Taylor. Bright future ahead for the Tigers.

A Totally Reasonable Playoff Proposal
Well done, @gchs_uk9. My only tweak is the neutral site and try to fix the 6A by making it either the 24 with a bye for the #1 seeds or just go with the 16 team. Here is my rational - what seed level of team can win a game in the current 6A listing on the posting earlier? I submit that no #5 can win so lets push Fern Creek, Eastern and other 5,6,7,8 seeds down to the 5A and let them have some success and a chance to win the state. Those 16 teams make 5A better and trickle down to 4a, 3a, and 2a and 1a. I grew up with Ohio Computer and really if you don't win, you don't make it to the playoffs. Cincinnati St Xavier was 4-5 when they played Louisville St Xavier and had to win to get in. (They won last week too in the 1st week of playoffs and get Colerain this week) A good site is joeeitel.com which tracks the 1st level points( wins) and 2nd level points( wins by opponents you've beaten) for every team in the state.

St. Xavier 1 Campbell County 0 - Rawlings/KHSAA State Baseball Championship
Casey Simon backed up Tristan Purcell at 2B as a sophomore on the state championship team of 2014. He played 2B last year with Avery Lane at SS. The home run was his first HR of the season and might of been his first on the varsity level. He is looking to playing club ball at the University of Virginia in the fall. Connor Holden was the bell cow pitcher this year as a junior as Daniel Fischer struggled and Elliott had a separated non-throwing shoulder from sliding into second about a 1/3 into the season. He came in during the district championship against Male and finished the game. He did not pitch in the regional tournament as we got 3 complete games in the 7th region. We got 3 complete games in the state tournament and only used 4 pitchers during the district, region and state tournaments. At one point we were 17-12, we lost to Trinity 10-0 in 5 innings with a line score of 0 runs, 1 hit, and 5 errors on a Friday night, and had a LONG talk after the game before jumping on bus at 7:15 am. The coaches did a wonderful job reminding them during that talk that St X lost to PRP 10-0 and lost to Male in the district tournament in 2014, and losing to your biggest rival by a run rule means nothing at all on May 13th if you continue to improve and play your best ball at the end. We lost against McCracken the next day and won the last 12. I thought we were going to fall short because we lost Ryan Davis (5th hitter) and Tanner Brown ( 6th hitter) after the district to injuries and frankly didn't think we had enough offense. Hats off to the St Xavier coaches for playing out of state top teams, ( Brother Rice of Illinois, Lasalle, Moeller, Elder and Cincy St X of Ohio, Brentwood Academy of Tenn, Floyd Central and Cathedral of Indiana, ) going only 2-6 against them and playing Greenup #1, McCracken Cty # 2, Trinity #3, Central Hardin, Etown, Simon Kenton, North Bullitt, and Meade County and Lexington Catholic. Our tough competition showed us our flaws and we had many. Congrats to the Camels in an amazing run to final.

St Xavier vs Campbell County - State Championship
St X goes for its record 7th baseball state championship tonight against the Camels of Campbell County. CC will be pitching Connor Hartig, CC # 2 pitcher, who pitched the Camels to a 10-0 win against Scott in the 10th region championship and beat Hazard 14-3 in the 2nd round of the KHSAA championships. Hartig also pitched the last out against Bullitt East, getting a strikeout and a save against Riordan of Bullitt East in the 9th inning in Campbell County's 1-0 semifinal win. St Xavier will throw Connor Holden, junior pitcher, generally regarded as the #3 pitcher but hasn't pitched since the 26th district championship against Male. St Xavier will have Brian O'Neil, Eric Hasselwander, Sam Wilson, Chris Esselman, Sam Mudd, and potentially Sam Porta available as their top 2 pitchers are inelgible due to pitch counts due to securing their 3-2 extra inning walk off thriller in 9 innings against # 2 ranked McCracken County. Game time is 7:00 pm at Whitaker Bank Park in Lexington, Ky. Who do you think will win? Both are coming off emotional extra inning wins on Friday night.

Who do you put on the mound?
Well 2 more of the top 25 ( in the PBR rankings) fell last night as Lex Catholic and Henry both fell in the 11th region leaving the 2nd ( Western Hills -in record) vs the 4th ( Scott County) Scott County has won both matchups previously (14-1 and 8-6) In the 7th, St X ( 2nd best record ) still has their ace, Adam Elliott, ready for Manual,(4th best record) who has 2 extra inning games so far so their 1,2,3,and 4 have pitched to get through the 1st 2 rounds against CAL and Male. St X had the benefit of drawing Central and used their 4 to go up against Central in a 5 inning 17-0 1st round. 15 of the 25 remain of the 32 left in the tournament. ( plus 6th region who plays tonight) . One comment is with the change of state tournament to 2 weekends, who to pitch isn't as much of a factor as the regional tournament. It becomes #1 or #2 with alot of the teams having a 1 and a 1 A on their staff.

Who do you put on the mound?
Interesting decisions for all. I counted 6 more of the top 25 according to PBR losing yesterday to go along with Tates Creek losing in the district so 17 of the 25 are still alive in the round of 64. Losers yesterday were Trinity-3, Madison Central-4, Ryle-6 , Meade Co -10, Fairdale-16, and South Oldham-18. I know Trinity threw their # 1 against Male but Noah Thompson's 6 hit shut out sent Male on to the semifinals. I wonder how many of the other losers were holding back. If any one knows about these games, let us know.

4/15/16 Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association Poll
I think North Bullitt is under ranked. Throw out some head scratching losses early and they will be there for the 6th region crown and state tournament again for the 3rd year.

4th Region officiating
As a certified member of the KHSAA officiating crew, it would be improper to comment on specific teams, regions, and/ or plays. However officiating has changed over the course of the last 2-3 years allowing the "freedom of movement". Here is this years point of emphasis web page. https://www.nfhs.org/sports-resource-content/basketball-points-of-emphasis-2015-16/. Was there a specific type of play(s) that you felt are being called improperly?
