Good Job Tigers!!!

Thanks guys for the insight. This city needs to recognize the contributions of all the players, coaches, administrators etc. over the years for the role that these games played in the history of the local community. Just think how many Thanksgiving dinners were planned around these games. Maybe the CJ will do a special section on the history of the game.

We UK fans, Big Blue Nation just love UK football. Everything is just fine. We just were not ready to play against Bye. :confused:

This game is a credit to both schools and the long standing tradition of the rivalry. Looking for some info. When did the series start ? Was it ever stopped for a year or two? What is the series record? What was the last year the game was played on Turkey Day? I would love for that to still be the case. I would probably make a 1:00 pm kick off of T-Day. Great tradition. Would love to here some stories about classic games!!!!

You raise an excellent point. It was my understanding that in a situation such as the one Saturday, the extra point would NOT have been kicked. I heard while listening to the radio broadcast that Coach Brooks wanted the Extra Point Defense team to get some game time experience in working on some new techniques to block kicks etc. Coach petitioned the SEC officials to let Bye run the play and they agreed. BUT, Officially the score was 19 - 12 Bye. All is not lost. Coach also wanted the Extra Point offensive team to watch Bye execute the hold and kick for learning experiecnes. So it was a all around learning experience and a very positive step forward for the UK program. It was amaizing, one would think that there would be a lot of "Boos" in this situation, however,a great majority of the UK faithful felt very good about the game and continued to party for several more hours in the parking lot. Just a very nurturing college environment.

If for some reason, one was really just on the fence about all this Rich Brooks stuff, this game should tell all we really need to know. Any UK victory (on score board) and Rich should be given four year extention on his contract. A UK loss and well, its all been said before. I will anxiously read the headline on the CJ Sunday am. Its a shame that games have so much win /loss pressure but winning is a very important part of the game and if your program is not getting the W's you think they should, then you have a couple of options: Speak up or be Happy!

Still don't think UK should have punted from the Bye 41 on 4th down and inches early in the 4th Qtr. That was a big momenutm swing for Bye. The rest is history now.

Can you say B-R-O-H-M. FRANCHISE player...He needs to carry UofL to Victory. He is the man and he is supposed to will us to win this game. Go Cards

This just in from Commonwealth: Attendance for tonights game against Bye was 63,500. On to the fantastic finish.... Uk lines up to kick a game winning 33 yard field goal with 10 seconds on the clock. Score is 13 - 12 Bye.... Uk kicks the field goal and it is good.... However, there is a flag on the play and Uk is called for 12 men on the field. 5 yd penality and rekick........ This time the ball sails through the holders hands, hits the kicker on the front of the helment and the ball bounces right into the hands of a defensive lineman fro Bye and he returns the ball for a touchdown as time expires.... Bye 20 UK 12...... Another very entertaining game for the commonwealth faithfull, just need more recruiting, need to be ready to play and, well, we did pretty good, we only lost to SEC Bye by 12....!!!!!!!

Congrats to Male on the big W. WRT St. X - 1st half was terrible. No offense, no deffense, no emotion..... Sure did not show me that they wanted to play and win that game. Best part of 1st half... Half time..... at least Male could not score during half time..... 2nd half was a different story, some emotion and started to execute on O. D played much better. Fought back into the game but really was weak on tackling and pass rush during the whole game. Kicking game showed its head, as no surprize.... Good come back only to fall to its own difficiencies (kicking game).... A Rematch - St. X has to do a better job of controlling Beaumont. O has to execute and D has to play with some emotion...... Obviously, kicking game must improve as well. Still not convinced the Tigers can do it.....! We will see. Male's conditioning was a major factor in the third qtr....... They were the ripe for the picking and St. X did not have enough fortitude and emotion to observe it and take advantage of it....... Should be a 4 qtr rematch if it occurs.......

Based off of what I saw, no question. Shut out 10 - 0, Final....

^ after your reference to 1999, I looked it up in my records and it was 19 -10 third round game. Next week was the infamous Hop town game....!!! and on to the State Championship over Bryan Station.

^ I would be surprised if there is standing water anywhere..... I have seen games @ Manual when someone would be tackled as they were going out of bounds and you wondered if they could hold their breath underwater long enough till the pile uncovered........ St. X played Male in a playoff game a few years ago at Manual in a driving rain storm.... I would say 65 % of the field did NOT have standing water on it.... Mud fest no doubt.... Any one remember the year or score??? I just remember it was a fairly close game and St. X won..... It never stopped down pouring rain the whole game.....

Special teams will be big in this game.... St. X has shown a continued problem of not getting the kick off quickly.... punting, xpts and field goals... Will this beast rear her ugly head tonight??? I would not be surprised.... On the other hand, when is X actually going to take one to the house on a punt or KO return...? (in a big game..) This could happen as well, barring a "holding " penality... Looking for a LOT of emotion out of the Tigers.... If we come out sleeping....... I have to wonder whats up!!!!!

^ Its a shame the game was not played in its entirety. Officials tried to call it a "no contest" but the KHSAA says it is an "official" game. So the "Final Score" was 10 - 0 Rocks. Any speculation about if I , would of etc. is a lot of hot air. So no need to reference this game as something it was not..... We have full game final scores which show these types of official results......

Sounds as if St. X is getting "kicked out".....of Manual Stadium. I never knew the land lord was so hostile towards the Tigers. I thought we were a good customer. Consistent (30 + YEARS), paid our bills, good crowds, good volume of concessions etc., and were generally very respectfull of the Manual property.. A good majority of folks have issues with the lighting, it is what it is... and its not "good" lighting... As far as the field is concerned, its a NATURAL football field and its late October..... Supporting soccer and other football games etc.... It is going to show where, it has held up very good this year.... Now throw 2 inches of rain on it this week, 2 + soccer games and tonights game... well, lets just say it will be in recovery mode the rest of the season. Again is a NATRUAL football field in late October..... It is supposed to look this way......

Male has not played one game in PJ in the last 3 + seasons?? Not doubting you, just seems kinda strange. Obviously I dont follow Male very closely unless the path intersects with the Tigers, but how is it that this came about? I would think they would have participated in one of those preseason bowl games or certianlly a playoff game... How has the Male Varsity season ended the last three years? Im, serious, I do not know??

Come on Bama Larry - Its not the tennets responsibility to make up grades etc to the facilities.... The land lord has that responsibility... What Manual does with the rent money for the last 60 years...? who knows.... who cares... Manual Stadium will have to feed themselves from now on.... Now, let the Manual alums build a new parking garage and new concession stand, new lights etc.... it is much needed.... Don't blame St. X for the poor lighting conditions at Manual Stadium...... Rest a sure, there wont be any lighting problems on the Poplar Level campus come next fall... I really dont think it would be to ST. X's advantage to move it to PJ ( a neutral site..) Male can move there home game next year to PJ...... LOL
