My Pandaish contribution on a much smaller scale. Hard to get good angles from the stands.

Great game to watch just as a fan. Holmes D fell asleep with no pressure on Adler for about 5 straight possessions which almost cost them. But, the Holmes pressure just wears teams down. It will be interesting to see how their pressure transitions to the big floor if they make the region; it certainly does make a difference. Hard played game by both teams.

Bosse scores several early points and then Boone worries about Bosse and Meier inside; this allows Niece to drive time after time after time. Meier didn't score a ton but Niece went for 33. SK went up double digits early and just kind of held it there. Boone bench with a first quarter T which obviously inhibited Fookes' coaching style. -
SK dominated from the start. One of those games that didn't deliver expectations.

Glad I attended and got to be a part of this great crowd. Lots of impartial fans, players and other coaches watching. I have to believe coach will be working zone offense a lot between now and tourney. While I'm sure it was a tough game to officiate, the calls were interesting to say the least. The first half elbow and the second half mosh pit on the foul line most interesting. However, I think amount of attention Holmes coach dedicated to officials may have distracted him and/or his team. Game was called consistently bad or good, take it and go.

Zero fouls against cross in first quarter. Ummmmm. -

Agree Neer, Scott's D not what it was. Difference in game though was SK 's muscle inside with Mullins, Deaton, and Fries. Rebounding differential will be interesting. Great atmosphere, like some of the old SK vs Scott matchups. -
SK moves out to 10-0. The Frosh Neers are coached by former SK Player Lyndsay Figgins McCullers; doing a very nice job with this team. :thumb:

Nice effort by Grant. Not SK's best game but still a District win. Interesting strategy in the 4th quarter. SK up by one and held the ball on the perimeter of Grant's zone. Braves were content and about 4 minutes ran off the clock. Nice move as SK ended up with a three point and one off of the possession and protected their girls in foul trouble. Struggling for the first half rebound. Grant used a lot of fouls on Meier on the inside. Niece pulls down a tough pass. Wright celebrates after draining a buzzer beater 3. Niece with a jumper in front of coach. Grant coach having his team stay back in the zone in the 4th qtr. -

Robinson really didn't get a lot of looks. SK struggled against Mason County pressure but seemed to gain some confidence down the stretch of the game. Although an L for SK, I liked what I saw down the stretch. Pracht with first half drive. Walker keeping the handle. Robinson in second half. -

Hellmann scores inside over Niece. Schmiade with a 4th quarter drive. Smith with shot and miss down the stretch. -
Powell obviously with a great game but SK seemed to get the big play from several kids at the right time: Chris Hicks with several key plays at the right time on D. Seemed to keep the team excited. Deaton with the biggest hit of the game on a screen play that jarred the ball loose for an in-completion. SK's entire D-line going up against some huge kids but battled all night. Cole Murray with the nail in the coffin play; catch, run and score with a huge block from Heflin. On the kick-off, he made a tough play on the onside kick. Heflin getting 4 yards on a 4th and 3 while Racke was getting attended to. Winkler's defense; breaking up a pass play deep in SK territory on 4th and long; could have maybe caught the ball but SK better off just knocking it down. Congrats! Cold night but not nearly as cold as the 2008 playoffs.

Scott is not in SK's Region. Oldham County is defending champ and team to beat again. North Oldham the other strong team. -

They have a lot of talent and will be fine; just off to a slow start following an impressive preseason. They did lose a person from their preseason rotation to injury and I believe a couple of other girls are a little banged up right now. To answer the original question, is this the same caliber team? Absolutely; I would say that it could be their best team in recent memory-could is the operative word. -
The Lexington teams look much stronger than year's past...very, very impressed with Creek, HC and Dunbar. All three with amazing size. Obviously didn't see every team in tourney but Dunbar's #13 was best player I saw this weekend. Final 8: Male, Bethlehem, Creek, Ryle, SK, Dunbar, Henry Clay and McCracken From Northern KY, I thought Cooper, Ryle and SK all looked very solid. (These were only Northern KY Teams I got to see.) This definitely could be the year that a team other than NDA wins the 9th.

Key strategy to the game was putting the ball in the hands of the quarterback against the press. Made some really nice passes up the court to break it several times. Key play? When Kuntz banked in the foul shot and lifted the Henry Hex. -
Shot pics of the game. When I got home and looked at the pics, #25 and 10 from conner were in just about every play. Dang those boys must have been tired

I got to the game mid-late in the second quarter and I never saw a point scored. In addition to watching the game, I was there to shoot some photos; what I basically got when I looked at my pics were basically two opposing piles moving around the field. Not the most exciting sporting event I've ever watched but good W for SK.

Here were the results of the Varsity Championship flight. Several 3 set matches. http://bluegrassstategames.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/2013-Varsity-Championship-Results.pdf

I heard Ryle won. A good venue for teams to see where they stand; a whopping 84 teams in the varsity pools! Championship flight included: Ryle, Oldham County, Whitefield Acad, Henderson, NCC, Eastern, Tates Creek, Lou Holy Cross, Larue Co, Dunbar, Lexington Christian Acad, North Oldham, SK and McCracken County. Very impressed with how good high school V-ball in KY is getting. I saw lots of these teams yesterday and they were all really fun to watch.
