  1. What cable channel on Insight replays the highlights at like 10:55 and 11:25?
  2. SK over Owen Shelby over Oldham Carroll over WV Anderson over South Shelby over SK Anderson over Carroll Shelby and Anderson in rematch with Shelby out on top. SK has been building a foundation and should get their chance to shine the next two years. I haven't seen all their games this year but they simply are not hitting on the same cylinders as when they beat Boone and Shelby in January.
  3. I just looked up this player's stats on the Enquirer site. He played a grand total of 8 varsity minutes this year and scored two points. (He did have some decent shooting statistics connecting on one of two shots for the season.) The only games he played in were the two regualr season games against Williamstown and a 30 point win against Grant. Maybe SK should take the runner-up spot of the District and take Walton's spot in the bracket. Seems like a better spot to me?
  4. That makes sense. Who cares what your clothes a kid wears.
  5. The boys won 93-48. Elbert scored 19 and needs 9 more for a grand. SK shot the lights out from long range which has been a problem lately. I can't remember a program- boys and girls combined- getting so rattled by injuries. It is unreal. Let's hope both teams can overcome the injuries.
  6. I have seen a few different NKU coaches at the last several SK games. Not saying they were looking at Mike but they were there.
  7. I don't think Hester is finishing because I don't think he has his normal elevation. However, if you would have seen him his first game back versus last night, it is night and day different. Still a few more weeks of healing before they have to make the track down to Henry County. SK JV team won the NKAC tourney tonight avenging their only loss on the year to Boone. They currently have a record of something like 20-1. Yeah, probably will be a drop-off but this current team is tough.
  8. Great for them. This group of kids has played hard any time I have seen them this year. Take them off the winless list.
  9. Hurd never tried to score unless he caught the ball in a position faced up to the basket. His bread and butter this season has been the jump-hook. I can't think of one time when he tried it tonight and he also even had trouble just catching the ball. I agree, rest the shoulder. With Hester, he seems to move better every game although tonight he came up limping after driving the lane or going up to rebound. Based on what I have seen with him, it is probably better to play. It was a great game to watch. SK gave a better game than I expected and was actually in a position to win. The guy that actually may put SK in a position to compete for the region is #45. His presence was definitely there. It has been awhile since I have seen a Cov Cath game coached by Listerman. How and why does he get away with working the refs like he does? Just because it is his style doesn't mean it should be accepted. Congrats Cov Cath. When SK went up by 4 in the 4th, Jacobs came in and hit the big shot which put the momentum on their side and finally the victory. Probably a very good chance these two can play again.
  10. According to this, http://simonkentonteamsblogpage.blogspot.com/ Kohrs had 12 rebounds. They guy isn't huge, he just goes after the lose ball with reckless abandon.
  11. Too Much Hurd. 27 points on the night. Hester continues to move better each game. He knocked down 3 threes for his only points but seemed to recover a lot better on defense tonight. Zach Layne doesn't miss; Elbert had about 12 or so. The guy that really looked strong tonight was Kohrs. He must have had double digit boards and scored like 6 points.
  12. I was really thinking that Walton was going to have better than a 500 season. They basically have the same team as they did last year but they don't seem nearly as strong.
  13. Hurd didn't dress/play due to an injured shoulder. Elbert finished with 23 after 19 in the first half; Hester knocked down about 5 3's if I counted right and had 19. SK fell behind by a point with about a minute to go and Zach Layne scored 6 straight points, including a 4 point play to give SK back the lead. Layne was announced with 17 but it seemed like more. Shows you how much he was missed in the Shelby game.
  14. My goodness, is there anyone that has played a tougher schedule than Boone this year? I almost wonder if it has been too tough?
  15. SK has got to find somebody who can shoot outside to take some pressure off of Hurd. Maybe give Barnes or Slavey a look? They hit some big shots in the offensive woe game against Dixie. Not having Zach Layne in the game tonight didn't help their out of paint presence either.
  16. Tomorrow at 1:30 at Cov Cath. SK is 18-1 with their only loss against Boone.
  17. Sounds like most are giving their votes towards SK. However, Hester being back is different than him being back 100%. Did anyone see how he looked on Saturday?
  18. :sssh: That kind of thinking will get a team a long way come tournament time. I hope if you have a daughter on the team that you don't encourage her to think like that. That will cost her team district and regional titles for sure. Just look what happened last year.
  19. It is at Owen County. Not sure if you consider this a seeding process but the winners of districts play the runner-ups of districts in the first round. That process is a draw.
  20. I would call the 8th a toss-up and Anderson is still in the mix there as well. A triple overtime doesn't give either team an advantage. If anything, SK frustrated Shelby last night and it really showed down the stretch so it will be interesting to see how Shelby respond. The best days may still lie ahead for SK as the core of their team is sophomores and juniors - with only one senior on the roster. Prior to Lindsey Figgins getting injured, they were starting 4 sophs and a jr. No SK girls team has ever made it to state so I have to believe they will get their chance over the next three years.
  21. I kind of found it strange that the dad of the girl that this thread surrounds is assistant principal at another Kenton County School. It sounds as if there is a hint that she may end up there? Not really all that surprising I guess.
  22. The freshman class is really strong. However, from what I have seen, the sophomore class in the area is even better.
  23. Here's something related that confuses me; kids who dress varsity only and then only play a minute or two of the game. That makes no sense to me at all. Players need to play where they can get minutes and improve. I have seen a few coaches over the years play a kid in the JV game and then start the kid at varsity. The reason they did that was to get some nerves worked/player loose before the varsity game started. The two or three instances where I can think of did not involve the player doing anything more than working up a sweat. I think you would see this more common in the girls ranks opposed to the boys ranks because you see girls starting varsity in the 8-10th grade.
  24. Although the game will likely attract a pretty good crowd and attention here, I would think that neither coach will likely tip their hat as to what to expect for the possible match-up during the regionals. (Certainly not counting out New Cath or Conner but the 9th is going to have to go through NDA/Boone.) The only thing that the winner of this game will lay claim to is the large school NKAC crown which doesn't mean beans compared to the Sweet 16 bid. I was actually surprised to hear that Coach Fookes pressed at all during the first meeting during the Christmas tournament. My guess is NDA will need to get better athletes and less size on the floor when the press comes at them- a true point guard or two wouldn't hurt either.
