WOW, that is impressive for the Bobcats! Congrats! Now, see if they can whip up on Wolfe/Buckhorn and represent the 14th region well at the All "A". When is the Championship game played? 6pm tomorrow??

If Neeley's not getting the ball, I catch him just standing around sometimes. Actually just watching the game.

Sounds like Lee just has too much tonight.

I heard that Neeley is headed to Lee County next year. If that is true, Lee County will be TOUGH!!!!

There may be a little turmoil brewing between a few of the team members. I could sense it at the last game. They still played well, but I'm afraid they may not be able to fix it.

It will come down to who plays the best defense. I think every team will hit well, and all of the teams play similar styles. Fundementals and defense wins championships!

I played for coach Combs and he definately knows baseball. If you even stand around him for any length of time, you will learn something about baseball.

You must remember how many balls your pitchers and catchers have thrown at practice. Always be planning on who will be your starting pitcher the next game, and make sure they don't throw too much in drills, etc. I always challenge the players that play for me, and I will even show them how I want it done. That way if they see this "old guy" hitting a golf wiffle ball with a broom handle, then they sure as heck had better be able to do it. I like to play right with them, I really think the players will respect you more if they see you can do it. A lot of coaches coach things that they could never do. I like the "lead by example" style of coaching. I'm sure as the years go by, I will have to change. For now it seems to be working.

I try to always incorporate different types of drills. This keeps the kids "on their toes" and keep them from getting bored. I actually write down the practice schedule and will post it so everyone can see what we are going to accomplish. This way everyone knows what to expect and can mentally prepare themselves for it. Time management is essential in baseball. I always get mad when I see team taking BP and they have the rest of the team shagging the balls. Those guys are just standing around, they could be taking infield or working on baserunning, or whatever else you need to work on. Time is the enemy, and when you can't start until Feb 15th, you have no time to learn them what you need to.

I like the lists, but keep an eye on Tre Congleton from Owsley. He has matured a lot over the past year, and he can cover some ground. We will have to see how the stick pans out this season. If Tre does what he is capable of, he will have a great season.

I will have to agree with Master D. Burch at Owsley will have a dangerous squad that will compete with anyone! I really think that in the communities where there is a strong little league system, you will always have a better High School Team. The High School coaches can then concentrate on fine tuning skills rather than coaching the players from "scratch"

It is hard to beat any team three times in one year! Especially the Owls with the scoring threats that they have. If Robert, Daniel, and Tre all play a good game Lee County is in trouble. Also think about the other players contributing a few baskets here and there as they did against June Buchanan. The one thing that worries me is who from the Owls is going to stop the big kid from Lee Co. Coach Smith will probably keep throwing the bench players at him to wear him down.

Owls win, they have got the momentum on their side, and Lee Co can't stop Robert Smith.

High School baseball comes at you quick, and if your team is not in shape it will show on the field. You better have good legs under you, and you must take care of your arm. I would suggest throwing as often as you can. Give your self time to recover, especially if you are a pitcher. Gradually build up on the amout of throws you make each week. I also like using the stretch bands, or cords. These will improve your velocity if used properly. And if you don't like those, you can use the heavy ball program. Bad thing is, the heavy balls are hard on a glove if you are throwing to a partner. I like to use the mats at basketball courts to throw at. Main thing is to build yourself up before the season. That means running, and get that arm "broke in".

I would have lost some dinero on that game. I don't see KCC beating the Bobcats again.

It did seem as if Owsley wasn't playing too aggressively the past few games. That is the key to them winning IMO. Stay up,and play hard. :fire:

In the 14th region you will have some great competition. Most of the teams are evenly matched. Some players to watch are Robert Smith (pitcher/SS/can play anywhere), also Jason Bowling (catcher/pitcher). These two are Senior's at Owsley County. Both will play College ball somewhere. :ylsuper:

Never mind, I posted as you did. That's a tough loss for the Bobcats. They will still be tough in the All A, district and region this season.

When my man Trey performs it boosts the entire team! I believe he is the key to winning in the future. Everyone knows Robert Smith can play, and Daniel Neeley can score, but a lot of teams over look Trey Congleton. He can be dangerous!

WOW..I am impressed. I wish I would have made it to the game. I hope the winning continues, because I hated to see those boys losing so much. Way to go Owls! :dancingpa
