  1. I loved the three guards that we played together this summer: Mike Hester of Simon Kenton Corey Pelle of Silver Grove Todd Jacobs of Covinton Catholic It was fun to have these three guys play together all summer.
  2. I was thinking that a lot of teams did not play in the state tourney.
  3. I was asking about teams that competed this past summer. The 2006 summer AAU season.
  4. I was looking back at the Kentucky State finals at each age group and had a question for everyone. Who were the top AAU teams in Northern Kentucky and the State of Kentucky at each of the age groups (9u-17u)?
  5. The top shooters in Northern Kentucky will be: Todd Jacobs of Covington Catholic Chris Bray of Boone County Jimmy Ryan of Holy Cross
  6. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=475824 I found this article and wanted to know what everyones thoughts were on this subject. I know that in Kentucky there has been a lot of debate about AAU and club sports.
  7. The summer season has sadly came to an end. I was thinking ahead to next year and trying to invision the top players in each age group. I want to put a list together before the upcoming high school season of players that I would like to recruit to join our orginization. I could use some help. Some of these players may already be playing with another orginization. I have started a short list of some of the players that come to mind. Let me know of any that you think should be added. 17 and under (Juniors) Nic Simpson of Highlands Arrez Henderson of Holmes Kyle Kendall of Dixie Heights Luke Mace of Dixie Heights 16 and under (Sophomores) Steven McFarland of Boone County Andrew Brown of Boone County Jayce Jordan of Conner Mitch Shover of Cov Cath Curt Russell of Ryle 15 and under (Freshman) Ryan Popp of Boone County Mike Gabbard of Boone County Austin Flannery of Boone County Andy Earls of Boone County 14 and under (8th Grade) ??? 13 and under (7th Grade) ???
  8. Now that the July recruiting period is coming to an end it will be very interesting to see what offers are received by the top players in Northern Kentucky. I wish each and every one of them the best!! I have posted a new poll on our website if anyone is interested in voting: http://www.kentuckyshiningstarsports.com
  9. The top three are set in stone because they have all been offered basketball scholorships recently. 1. Austin Hill 2. Zach Kiernan 3. Mike Hester Has Kane Belcher been offered? I have not had the opportunity to see him play live. He must be a fantastic player! Arrez and Nic's turn is still to come. They will have two years to prove themselves. Arrez is finishing the year with the Kentucky Shining Star Sports team. I am looking forward to getting an extended look at him. He played with us in Indianapolis a couple of weeks ago and played very well. I would love to see all of these gentlemen get the opportunity to play college basketball. They are all fantastic athletes and most are fantastic people.
  10. Corey Pelle and Todd Jacobs are both going to get offers to play somewhere. Corey and Todd have been a fantastic guard duo!! Corey is very versatile. He played a lot of point guard when Hester was hurt. He can also play shooting guard or swing over and play the three. He is a nice kid to have on a roster.
  11. Austin Hill- Has received a ton of attention during the July recruiting period. Has played fantastic basketball and has already received a number of offers. There are a lot of coaches that are going to be in Orlando that are going to be taking long looks at Austin. My phone has been going crazy with coaches calling about Austin. He outplayed some of the better players in Louisville. He really turned his game up a couple of notches. Zach Kiernan-Was an absolute beast at the Hoosier Shootout in Indy. He has received a lot of attention as well. He will have numerous basketball offers if he wants. He is done for the summer due to the start of football. I totally disagree that he is not very quick. He is one of the quickest big men that I have watched play this summer. During the summer period he has outplayed a lot of great players. During the state tournament he outplayed Pettigrew from Derek Smith All Stars. Mike Hester-Came back strong after having the cast on his arm. He played great basketball in Indy and Louisville. He has put himself in a great position. He will be showcasing his abilities in Orlando starting next week. Mike has shown the ability to score while directing his team as well. He is a very skilled and unique player. This kid is one of the most unselfish players you will ever see play!!
  12. I have seen the list of players that the coaches think will be the best in Northern Kentucky next year but was wondering who are going to be the biggest sleepers in Northern Kentucky. All of the players on the list were players that all had varsity experience. What players are going to be big contributors that have not played much varsity basketball?
  13. Just received an email from Bob Seiter and he said that they hired a coach on Monday and when the admin returns from Louisville they will make an announcement.
  14. I have put up a new poll question on our website if any one is interested in voting. http://www.kentuckyshiningstarsports.com
  15. I tried to call him today to ask about setting up an interview and I could not leave a message because his mailbox was full.
  16. I watched Cov Cath roll over Fern Creek on Saturday.
  17. Did not get to many shots in the overtime. We turned the ball over the first three possessions and missed the few shots that we did get. Not one of our better stretches of basketball. It was painful to watch and even more painful as I was pulling stats from the video. We lost two games to teams that we had no business loosing to and won a couple of games that we had no business winning. Just one of those weekends.
  18. Yes it is. We start play on the morning of the 24th. The schedule came out today.
  19. I just finished posting all of the stats from the Hoopfest. I also put up a weekly poll about players on our roster, it would be interesting to have some of the people from this forum voting. http://www.kentuckyshiningstarsports.com I was really proud of the way our team performed in Louisville. We were really small and played some pretty big teams. We played a lot better than I would have anticipated. Really looking forward to the Super Showcase and the Division I Nationals.
  20. I put an application in for the job when it was first posted and never heard a thing from anyone. Did they do any interviews?
  21. I don't have the scores in front of me but we are 4 wins and 1 loss so far. We lost to Sun Youth out of Canada our first game by 2, beat Fox Valley All Stars (had a nasty 7 footer), beat True B-Ball Playz out of Colorodo, beat the Cleveland Titans last night and beat Glory Elite this morning. Austin Hill and Mike Hester are putting on a fantastic show for all of the coaches up here. We are really small due to the fact that we are missing Zach Kiernan and Josh Hurd. We are really having to fight to stay in games because we are so much smaller than everyone down here. I will try to update you later today.
  22. How can Duran Jefferson be ranked and Austin Hill not even make the list? Zach Kiernan should also be rated pretty high on the list.
  23. Kentucky Shining Star Sports ended up loosing their tourney game to Speice Central Stars at the Hoosier Shootout. They have a nice squad, shot the ball extremely well. Overall, we played pretty well but exited a littler earlier than I would have liked. I thought the exposure was pretty good. Zach Kiernan turned a lot of heads during the tourney. We are playing in the Kentucky Hoopfest, I am getting ready to head to the the tourney as we speak. Eddie Ford agreed to let us play, we did not use our Ohio mailing address. We talked via email and he was very cool about letting us in. I appreciate him letting us play because I really enjoy the tourney. We will be a little short handed without two of our bigs. Zach Kiernan and Josh Hurd will not be playing with us in the Hoopfest. I hope that all of the Kentucky teams do well this weekend. Good luck to all. Keep this thread going so that I can get updates each evening.
