Come on West Virginia Boy do you really think that Cooksey is going to put Barker on Owens again???!?!. Barker wasted too much energy on the defensive end last time trying to stop Owens. Owens will get 30 regardless but the Eagles under the direction of Rex Cooksey will have a solid game plan to knock off Boyd and go on to win their first district title since 1977. Come this weekend the Eagles will be the favorite to cut down the nets in Morehead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hutchinson is playing. No injuries or suspensions for the Eagles. They will be in full force to knock off Boyd and claim their first district title since 1977!!!!

Nothing is wrong with the Eagles. They lost at Greenup without Hutchinson and playing at Rowan on senior night is not easy. The Eagles have been looking forward to next Wednesday's game against Boyd County for the past three weeks. They will be ready to play and they will play very well. I agree Chad Cook does a very good job and he will be one of the top officials in the next couple of years. I was a referee for several years and it is not an easy job. Many young officials quit after a year or two beacuse of the abuse they receive from coaches and fans. You must have tough skin to blow the whistle.

Hutchinson failed to get a paper turned in on time but sources tell me that during 5th period that he was ok to play then at the end of school he was told he would not play. Hutch is a great kid and does well in the classroom. Just made a mistake. Hicks was yelling at Cook during the JV game and I guess MR. Cook got offended with what he said. The officials made several phone calls before the game to higher authority to find out that once a coach/fan is removed from the gym he can not return to the gym for the remaining of the evening. Greenup coaches did a great job making adjustments during the game. Black was dominating inside in the first quarter (11 points) then Greenup went to a zone that effectively shut down Black the remainder of the game.

What an impressive defensive performance by the Cougars in the first quarter against the Eagles. That is the best defense I have ever seen by a 16th region team in along time. Great coaching by Perry when McCowan got his fouth foul and he went to the 1-3-1 zone. Fairview was unable to get the ball inside to Black to try to pick up McCowan's fifth foul. Questionable call on McCowan's fifth foul late in the fourth quarter. No question that Morgan is the team to beat. Eagles will have to get more from the inside if they expect to go anywhere in the postseason.

My bad!!!! Just getting fired up for District Play!!!! Last outing Morgan was able to pull away late to win against the Eagles. McCowan dominated inside againt the Eagles last outing and if he is able to do the same tomorrow night the Eagles will be in trouble. Fairview is 6-0 at home this year but will need a solid performance to pull out a victory. Fairview will also have to shoot well from the outside because the Cougars should be able to handle Cody Black on the inside. Cody will a have a difficult time matching up with McCowan in the middle. Cantrell Ratings has Morgan at number one at 70.2, Fairview second at 66.5. Should be a heck of match-up in Westwood. Eagles need a solid win to get their confidence up as they prepare for Boyd County. I firmly believe that the Eagles are a better all around team than Boyd County. Cooksey did not show his hand the last time they played Boyd. He had Alex Barker at 5'7 going against the taller Owens last time out and I know Cooksey will have a solid game plan to beat the Lions on their home court. Boyd has to rely on Owens while the Eagles have four players that can beat anybody on any given night. Early Prediction: Fairview 64 Boyd County 55

I found it amusing that the Raceland fans and cheerleaders kept chanting Raceland Football throughout the game rather than cheering the basketball team on. Raceland has dominated the series in football but to my knowledge the Eagles have whipped the Rams in football the last three out of four years and last year barely got by the Eagles 7-6. Hats off to Thomas Tolliver!!!! Great floor game and Alex Barker was clearly frustrated. I wish Thomas was several inches taller beacuse he would be a major D1 football player. Great competitor and he has been a joy to watch the last couple of years.
