I'm taking Boyd by 6. 1st game was close and Russell was without Clark, but I still believe in my Lions. They have played well the last 2 games as a team and I look fo that to continue.

Boyd by 4. Boyd is better and Russell rebounding from their loss to Greenup won't be enough!

It truely depends on which Russell team shows up. Boyd County is not better. Take away Owens and they are an average team. If Russell does not put a little more effort in their play it doesn't matter.

And how good is Russell without Vanhoose?? Not very,I'm not so sure they would even be average, and in high school you could say that about every team that has a star player. Just look what happened the last game against Greenup, and Vanhoose even played despite not being 100%. Russell has no stars on their team other than Vanhoose, only role players, just as Boyd has. So if you sit Owens and Vanhoose, you would still have a close game. :fight:

I agree it would hurt Russell to play without Van Hoose, but Russell's remaining players are better than Boyd's. I don't think it would be that close if the two teams played without those two.

Owens is definitely a difference maker in any game his takes part of. More than Vanhoose would be. But, I believe it all boils down to if Russell shows up! Play 2 Win stated it the same as I believe. If Russell, with or without Vanhoose decides to play, they will handle Boyd (even with Owens) on many nights. Clark vs. Owens, Gill vs Blanton and Blair vs Shannon all matchups would lean towards Russell. (granted Owens will get his share of points 20+). If Vanhoose is healthy (far from it), they raise back up to the upper echilon in the 16th, and yes above Boyd.

For one thing, I don't see how you get those matchups all lean toward Russell. Gill over Blanton, Clark over Owens, what games have you been watching? I'll give you Blair over Shannon, but I'll take Moore over Lavender, and you are totally forgetting one big key matchup BC bench over Russell bench, no question.

If you remeber the 1st meeting, I believe Boyd played alot of the 2nd half and all of the overtime without Owens, so how is the rest if Russells team better than Boyd?

I am by no way predicting a Russell win or Boyd County's demise, I am just saying that personnel on both teams are even with the Advantage leaning towards Russell. And the bench???? neither has a bench as evident in the first meeting! Sizemore is becoming more efficient and I really can't even name a BC bench player.

Lavender vs. Moore is a no brainer, Moore by a landslide! Lavender doesn't seem to understand his role in the offense and continues to take shots away from his teammates! Lastly, when Owens was on the bench, BC did nothing special (as neither did Russell) which proves that whatever team gets hot with their players on the court, stars included, will have the advantage.

But at least they won the game with him on the bench, which is more than alot of people, including myself, expected in the overtime period. At least give credit where credit is due.

I will agree with you 100%. When he fouled out and Russell busted the 10 point lead to send it in overtime, I would not have given Boyd much of a chance, but they had a couple guys step up with Owens on the bench. I would think that win helped the team alot.

So did I, but it didn't. They didn't really come together as a team until after losing to Ashland. Since that game, they have played great as a team and it is showing on the court.

Any word on how Vanhooses ankle is?
