  1. As a fan of HHS I attend as many school athletic events as possible. Throughout the year I catch football games, basketball games, baseball games, soccer games and swimming contests. Heck, if I could find out where the Chess and Bowling Teams were having their competitions I might try to catch one. Anyway, one thing is constent, there is absolutely NO enthusiasm when you step into the gym at HHS. I know winning is the best way to drum up support, but it can also be obtained with other things. Go to a game, you'll see Coach Mueller working the crowd, talking with the students all while the head basketball coach stands in the doorway to the locker room. I know he's getting prepared for his game, but come on he looks like he standing over there without a friend in the world. Now, Coach Mueller may be there because of his Athletic Directors responsibilities, but he's making the most of it. As a youth in Ft. T. I played many seasons in the Ft. Thomas Jr. Basketball League. What a great time! From what I hear that league is no longer around. I know everyones going to say "the kids all play AAU ball". We'll I'm sorry, if you go to an AAU game, you'll see some very gifted players and fantastic teams, but you'll also see some kids that were just like me that would improve and could improve by playing in a recreation league. If the basketball program is going to attract and produce players it needs to start at the elementary level. Case in point, the Jr. Football League is busting at the seems with players and volunteers. I've read posts by LN, Malachicrunch, DMZ76 and Gryche11 bouncing the basketball topic around. Just thought I'd add my thoughts.
  2. I'm not aware of the other candidates, but isn't Trosper the guy most people in "Cougarville" wanted?
  3. Hey Crunch, remember a boy named "Ty"? He doesn't come close to being on the list, but boy he had a good senior year. As for the 79 team, that's my all time favorite HHS team. Am I right? Voreis, Muntis, Sully, Malone, Malone, Redmond, Bowdy, Fischer who am I missing?
  4. The five freshman are probably Grubbs, Kowolenek, Lother, Watson and Grote. Those are the players that dressed against Cov. Cath JV earlier this week.
  5. Although I don't particularly care for the way Coach Schlarman runs a basketball program, he is an excellent X's and O's game coach. They may not win, but it shouldn't be a blowout.
  6. DMZ76 I see your point and understand your statement. Can you tell me this, are the Freshman that are getting more time at the JV level having an impact? Seems like everyone is waiting for this group to become "all that" when it come to all the sports. Is it fair to any of the kids in this situation? By the way Cov. Cath. by 20 pts......
  7. LN, you are correct as always. Coach Weinrich did NOT apply for the position. Therefore obviously, not one of the 5 to be interviewed.
  8. Your right gryche11 the list is a walk down memory lane at HHS. How about Mark "Dusty" Cottingham? He played LB on the 81 and 82 State Championship teams. If I'm not mistaken he only weighted about 160lbs and was absolutely fearless.
  9. You better be able to run from the entire HHS defense. All those kids can get to the ball in a hurry. Everything starts up front with Schlosser #62, Brown #56, Beck #61 and Dierig #55. If you manage to get past them, Roller #82 and Bankamper #34 will make you wish you didn't! The secondary with Rosie #11 and Bardo #3 will come up and knock you. Offensively they are a quick strike with tremendous speed. But they will drive the ball on you behind Schlosser and Brown.
  10. I heard the "babybirds" had a very good spirted practice yesterday. It couldn't have come at a better time. Sounds like they're prepared?
  11. No doubt it should be a good game. Here's a few things to remember from the first game. Will Bardo did not play QB until the last play of the first half. He came in and threw a 40-50 yard TD pass to end the half. After last weeks game I think Will is going to be playing with ALOT of confidence. Look for him to have a great game throwing and don't forget he will tuck the ball and make you pay with his speed. Conner's first TD was on a fumble recovery. Conner didn't move the ball very well on the ground. They were successful throwing the ball on their final possesion. Go "Babybirds" practice hard, focus on your final Freshman Championship task. Remember your motto from the beginning of the year "Win for Quinn"!!!!
  12. I knew I should have called you in the first place................
  13. I agree with you comments regarding the Freshman players are till learning schemes. It'll be a shame if the game is completely cancel when there's an alternative site available like HHS.
  14. HHS "babybirds" are scheduled to play Boone Co. today at 6:00 at Boone Co. I hear Boone has canceled 2 home games because of field conditions. Anyone know if Boone intends to play this game? If the field is in poor condition bring it onto the turf at HHS!
  15. I give Conner alot of credit. They played hard all game and #'s 8, 35 and 44 displayed great talent. Although the game went down to the final seconds which made it exciting, the referees blew not judgement calls but actual football rule calls in Conner's final drive. Good luck to both teams the rest of the season.
  16. LN, I agree with your comments regarding the "Baby Birds" approach to their recent games. Hopefully they will understand good practices usually carry over into good game performances. Their drive late in the 4th Quarter was impressive under pressure. Any Pioneer fans know that status of the injured player? I believe it was #32.
  17. I talked to Cam over the weekend. He says "the ball just fell out of the sky into his hands". Even with Quinn gone, these boys are still tossing a football together...............
  18. notoppyno, sounds like your putting together a scouting report against the "baby birds". Come to the game Thursday and have yourself a look.
  19. Just a little FYI. Ryle lost to CC last night 14-13. HHS plays both of these teams the next two weeks. I don't look for either of these teams to back down. Baby Birds, great win last night! Now get back to work today for the rest of the season.
  20. No matter what level, Frosh, JV, or Varsity the game between HHS and Cov. is always BIG. LN may correct me, but I think this make the Frosh. teams 29-0 over the last 3 years.
  21. Henry I be there, including the Frosh game tonight. The boy is pumped for the game today, I hope #62 is ready to go as well!
  22. This group has the potential to put up big numbers as long as they stay healthy. I attended the game Saturday and watched the tape on Sunday. Offensive linemen Scholsser and Brown opened the way at the point of attack. On defense I thought Roller, Brown, Schlosser, Dierig and Alford had very good games. There definately needs to be improvement this week against Cov. Cath. I'm sure the coaches will pound this into them this week at practice.
