  1. This has nothing to do with the Frosh football game. But, if you ask the soccer players they'd rather keep the field grass for some reason. I know absolutely nothing about soccer but that's what I've heard.
  2. From memory, which isin't much these days, last years Frosh game with Boone Co. was suppose to be played at Boone on a Thursday. During that week we had a few days of rain and Boone's Varisty team had a game scheduled at home Friday and didn't want the field torn up prior to their game. I'm guessing they want their home game back..............I say put in turf!
  3. Kicker #82 Adam Weinel. Hit the game winning PAT. Talk about pressure!!!!
  4. This "streak" could become a very positive thing if handled properly by the players and coaches. It's possible this group of Freshman could use the "streak" as a motivational factor. Dedicate yourself to the TEAM and to each other as teammates. Put aside all the negative influences and work TOGETHER to obtain team goals. This team has just as many "athletes". "football players", and "hard working kids" as the other HHS teams have had. If they accomplish their goal by extending the "streak, they will also accomplish the goal of silencing the so called critics. Good Luck to all of them!
  5. Great job boys. Continue building your skills and developing as baseball players and athletes. A big KUDOS to Jared Dougherty. I heard he played through an injury and at times pain. Get healthy you have a great career ahead of you!
  6. I agree. Until someone knocks off HHS they're the team to beat. The young Birds will have their work cut out for them, but I'm sure they're up to the test. They've got alot of talent and with the numbers in "Death Valley" so far I'm sure they'll find players to fill any obvious holes. Good luck to all of them.
  7. All the above, but needs to improve on his aggressiveness
  8. 6'0 and nothing like his father, just ask Mom:banana: . He has long arms and can jump out of the gym. Stephen is a smart player and does things right on the court.
  9. Not only is he a terrific baseball player, he was the heart and sole of the Highlands Baseball Program this season. The entire senior class was great, but Patrick was a true leader in every sense of the word. Good Luck Patrick!:thumb:
  10. If this is true, it's well deserved. Coach Johnson has done a great job turning the program in the right direction in just two short years. He's a class act and it seems like he displays positive character all the time. Congradulations to him his palyers and staff.:thumb:
  11. This couldn't happen to a nicer young man. Great family as well. Good luck Ben.:thumb:
  12. So much for city and school cooperation and communication. No wonder people get feed up and drop participating in trying to do things right.
  13. Oh Henry, you loved buying, transporting, stocking and cooking your world famous sausage biscuits for the Jr. Football League 2 years ago. Not to mention cleaning and closing the stand every Saturday. Which reminds me, that was the duty of the league VP.   just joking LN.
  14. Ryle has my vote. I agree Cov. Cath and Campbell County to be contenders as well.
  15. Cody. He hit one out of Highland Park last week against Milford. It was a blast over the centerfield wall. His swing is on fire.
  16. This was a good sign for the Birds heading into the final game of the season against Scott on Friday. Cameron Dierig pitched his second complete game of the year. Big hits for the Birds came from Watson, Rosenhagen, Dailey (Jake) and Rizzo. If this team stays mentally focused they can make some noise in the tournament.
  17. I saw the article, very nice. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you build your high school programs through youth programs. Get the kids excited about your sport. Build a relationship with them. Let them know who you are and they'll be your next "stars".
  18. How was the fan turnout for the game? I saw some advertisements that there was going to be some pre-game activities for the youth teams in the area.
  19. Great job Birds! Another signature win for the program. Hats off to the seniors, they've hung in there through some difficult times. Best of luck to you all the rest of the season. Go Birds!
  20. 11 and 9. They had two 3 game losing streaks early in the season where they simply were not playing good baseball. Since, the record is better and most importantly the players are getting better.:thumb:
  21. How many schools in N.Ky. have Freshmen teams? How many games do they play?
  22. HHS wins 5-3 over Beechwood at Highland Park. Ben Watson started and pitched 4 1/3 strong innings for the win. Cameron Dierig finished the final 2 2/3's innings to get the save. Good pitching and solid defense is beginning to be the trademark of this team. Offensive production tonight was off the bats of Jake Daily and Chris Rizzo. Hit the ball and anything can happen guys. Keep working hard!
  23. I heard the same thing recently. There's a tremendous upside to what potentially could to happen in the next couple of year with HHS Baseball. I know the coaches are excited with what they've seen within the program this year. I give the senior players alot of credit. They've committed themselves to baseball and have been great role models for the younger players. At the JV level the team has 3-4 sophomores that have lead the way. The freshman have contributed nicely in every game. The JV squad has 8-9 players that also play football, so the draw has already begun. Watch out, the baseball program might leapfrog over other popular sports with the exception of football.
  24. Your comment is acruate. However, teams (players & coaches) deserve to be recognized for their achievements on the ball field recently. It's difficult to understand from the outside, but these boy's should be very proud of the season they've had so far.
  25. :thumb: The Enquirer has HHS #5 in the coaches pole this week. Way to go Birds! Keep improving and keep impressing. Top 5 Cov. Cath. Ryle Boone Co. Holy Cross Highlands
