Boyd Co will be there the 1st week in April

:thumb: How very true about the hand checks, just ask Antonio Owens, he's been getting mugged all year long with hand checks just to try to slow him down and most of the time it isn't being called.

It is hard for kids to excell in multiple sports in HS, but it is also hard for kids to not try to play everything they can, esp if they are the ultra competeive types that generally play multiple sports. They have a desire to win and to help their school be the best. So I don't really blame a kid for playing multiple sports, but some need to realize that if they have a future in one particular sport that can pay for college or even take him farther, that maybe he should concentrate on that one sport and make himself that much better.

The talent that Tubby has recruited from other parts of the state haven't exactly been the best talent either. So why not someone from the 16th region who is averaging 30 per game?

So did I, but it didn't. They didn't really come together as a team until after losing to Ashland. Since that game, they have played great as a team and it is showing on the court.

That could be a possibility for him and I'm sure that if UK wanted him to go that route he would. Besides, where else would a kid from KY want to play? It is most every KY kids dream to end up at UK.

But at least they won the game with him on the bench, which is more than alot of people, including myself, expected in the overtime period. At least give credit where credit is due.

Not only that, but you also have the added pressure of each sports coach wanting the players to only concentrate on the sport that each coaches.

I don't think attitude would be an issue at UK. College has a way of making kids grow up, and if you don't then you won't play or you'll be gone.

All I know is that he is better than what Tubby has coming off of the bench right now. Granted Tubby isn't a very good recruiter, but maybe he is seeing some error in ways of late by not recruiting instate talent(Lofton). Good luck Antonio and I wish only the best for you. It also wouldn't suprise me if they would want him to redshirt for a year in order to develop his game further for SEC play. He has the skills, they just need the experience and the refining.

If you remeber the 1st meeting, I believe Boyd played alot of the 2nd half and all of the overtime without Owens, so how is the rest if Russells team better than Boyd?

For one thing, I don't see how you get those matchups all lean toward Russell. Gill over Blanton, Clark over Owens, what games have you been watching? I'll give you Blair over Shannon, but I'll take Moore over Lavender, and you are totally forgetting one big key matchup BC bench over Russell bench, no question.

I believe you omitted the 16th region in your post. They have fared very well of late and should make a good showing this year as well.

At Boyd Co it is that a tradition of winning has been built and the younger kids are well aware of the tradition and what is expected of them. And they want to be a part of it all and someday tell their kids about their experiences playing BC baseball.

And how good is Russell without Vanhoose?? Not very,I'm not so sure they would even be average, and in high school you could say that about every team that has a star player. Just look what happened the last game against Greenup, and Vanhoose even played despite not being 100%. Russell has no stars on their team other than Vanhoose, only role players, just as Boyd has. So if you sit Owens and Vanhoose, you would still have a close game. :fight:

I'm taking Boyd by 6. 1st game was close and Russell was without Clark, but I still believe in my Lions. They have played well the last 2 games as a team and I look fo that to continue.

Pretty accurate IMO, except I see Boyd as the #2 instead of Elliott, who we beat at their place.

I totally agree. I was involved in the State Championship series that helped to bring about the rule about pitching in consecutive games and resting. Lafayette had a real good pitcher in Jed Durough, who beat St X and Paul Byrd the night before, and then came back with him the next day vs us in the championship after throwing 7 innings the night before. He was a pro prospect and doing that ruined his arm and he was never the same pitcher afer that. So coaches do have to show some responsibility to the players, as you could possibly ruin their future in the next level.

While I was at Boyd Co, us players as a team started practicing on our own the 1st day of school and continued workouts all the way through until baseball season started. But we were a dedicated team with only one goal in mind, the State Championship.

I'll take Elliott by 12 in this game. Ashland has not played well lately, while elliott has been playing pretty good.

If a player is dedicated to himself and the game of baseball, I'm not so sure that there is such a thing as overdoing it, and if they can't handle it, then good riddance.

I disagree, I think it goes accordinng to the pitchers arm strength and conditioning. I too pitched in high school, and it was no problem for me to throw 100 pitches. But I will say that I also trained very hard on my body and my arm. I used to long throw almost every day, ran every day, and weight trained 3 days a week.

At Boyd Co, probably 60-70 kids will try out. Generally 36-40 are kept, with 18-20 being sent to varsity and the rest will play JV
