  1. The coaches AND/OR parents should take responsibility for getting their players and sons noticed. If a coach has players that they think can play at the next level, they should be contacting the colleges and universities and sending tape out or helping the player get tape out to them. The parents can get game tapes from the coaches and make copies and send the tapes to the schools or they can tape the games themselves and send the film out to schools. These college use the film to evaluate players. The players should also attend one or more of the various combines held in the springtime during their junior year, there are always college coaches at the combines, if someone is exceptional, they will notice him. The bottom line is to get their name out to the college coaches. I may be wrong but I also think that their are combines for those who have not signed with a school. How seriously do college coaches view the AP poll, I doubt they put much stock in it.
  2. I don't think you can always judge players by their stats, sometimes the player has other "assignments" besides tackling, such as pressuring the QB, covering receivers, etc. which would mean that someone else on the team gets the tackle, same with rushing, the rusher has to have blockers, just because someone does have big numbers doesn't mean that they are not a 'good' player and undeserving of an award because they played their role and didn't get the tackle, yardage, etc.
  3. If there are only a handful of eligible voters, who are not familar with all the nominees, then why have this team?
  4. no they really won't. i've seen this catholic team play burke is very impressive
  5. True, and those who did vote probably voted for those kids that they have seen or heard of. How many of them actually saw all of the kids nominated and/or knew enough about them to vote for those outside their "area of coverage". I am also surprised to hear that there are only 30 eligible voters of all sports editors and/or writers in the state of Kentucky?
  6. Interesting, Ronnie Letcher, Player of the year in 4A, district 8, nominated but didn't even make honorable mention. Makes you wonder what games, the writers who did vote, went to. Someone who was out with an injury the entire season made the team, not taking anything from the kid, but, how can you rate a player who didn't play against ones who did play? I would like to compare this list to the coaches list, I think their list will be very different.
  7. I read in Saturday's, (11/26/2005) Richmond Register that four players (Paul Warford and Ronnie Letcher from Madison Central and Luke Stocker and Robert Dees from Madison Southern) made the Kentucky Mid-State football Coaches Association All-Star team. The article said that there are 22 teams from across central kentucky involved in this association, but didn't say what teams, does anyone know what other teams belong to the association? Does anyone who how the other players are who also made the team?
  8. Chaz Hope of Madison Central, although will just be a junior in 2006, will be a good one by the time he is a senior in 2007.
  9. He would never purposely show disrespect to anyone?!?......I personally heard him disrespect a player and coach of a team that they were playing in a summer camp this past summer. If that is the type of leadership that he teaches his players, he needs to step down.
  10. I'm only going to see a family friend receive an award on Friday night.
  11. As I said in a previous post, this doesn't surprise, not after the way I saw him act this past summer.
  12. This doesn't surprise me, I've seen HC's coach(s) be disrespectable to other teams, coaches and players more than once. For instance, Iheard and saw him yell at another team's player this past summer
  13. Yes he was #22 for Madison Central and he does run the ball very hard. I too think he is one of the best backs this season
  14. I'll take the N.C. State recruit and the rest of the Knights to take home this ship this year. Too much fire power for the Purples to handle. Lex. Cath 48-21
  15. The AP was soliciting votes from sports editors/writers until today at 2 PM, here's the link to the nominees: http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:9Gws1KsbBLsJ:wchstv.com/newsroom/sports/snews
  16. Madison Central loses 23 seniors, they will return 3 starters on each side of the ball. Chaz Hope will return as QB, JT Hess, Dexter Chenault, Ramsey Morten all three linemen, Jonathon Miller ILB, and Rickey Rhodes corner/safety. Keyshawn Simpson, a freshman, saw some playing time towards the end of the year, I expect to see him get a lot of playing time next year, very athletic. They have another very athletic freshman, Isaiah Kavanaugh, who may see some significant playing time. I don't know much about any of their other freshmen or sophomores. They may not win the district next year in 2006 but watch out for them in 2007. Coach Turner will have them ready.
  17. I have heard the same thing, Letcher won Player of the Year in District 8
  18. Ronnie Letcher from Madison Central. EKU has offered, WKU seriously interested, making a visit to Miami of Ohio next week and has visited a couple of small schools. Won District Player of the Year (4A - District 8) for this season. He has the size, 6'0", 190 lbs and 4.5 speed and plays hard-nosed football. The bigger schools have basically ignored him, even though he has put up bigger numbers that his teammate, Paul Warford, this season. He currently has already met academic eligibilty guidlelines to date.
