I like he idea of the community hype, but the "choo choo" part will have to grow on me. Weren't names for this game discussed during this past football season?

I think the more experienced Lady Rams do, Himmelfarb. You certainly couldn't knock anyone's effort last night as both teams battled to the end. It was a great game with many lead changes. I noticed several players hugging each other instead of the normal hand clap. Those two teams have great respect for each other, on and off the court.

Vanderhoof had a great game, as did six other Lady Rams. This was truly the best they've played since early in the season. They played as a team, which is what it takes to continue winning.

I see no reference to a person or coach/coaches in this reply.

Perhaps God did not reveal that thorn in order to force us to think, really think and not just assume (and scratch) :thumb:

Well it was actually a jr. high civics class...Bless Coach Stanley's heart for a great life lesson! I learned to act like I was paying attention as the years went by! I am not a coach and don't claim to be, so I hope your last statement is correct. Thanks.

I had a social studies teacher in high school that refused to let us use the word 'fair' in his class. He said life isn't fair and you may as well get used to it. At that time, it confused me, but it is one of those great lessons that sticks with you throughout your adult life and each time you are reminded of your wonderful teacher way back in the day. Unfortunately, the situation all are describing that is happening on the state level happens in all areas of sports. Even on the local level, more easily recognizable names often get the recognition and attention of the press, the sporting community etc. Is it, shall I say it? FAIR? No, but it happens. It isn't right either, but it happens. It is definitely a shame too. The same holds true for offensive and defensive players. Score points: you are a hero. Play good hard defense and make numerous assist and get no recognition at all.

I know a few of Raceland's players are out with the flu. Holbrook, a starter, for one. These absences could be the difference in an 8 pt. ballgame.

I agree with 30pointer, it was definitely a great ballgame. I must say that the officiating was very fair and consistent. The controversy to me was the "no 2 o.t." statement and also the shot. Many Raceland fans felt the officiating was extremely good up until that point. Overall it is a good tournament that prepares the teams for upcoming districts and regionals. Good luck to both the Lady Rams and the Lincoln Co. team.

I also heard that the official stated "no 2nd OT"...that just takes the heart out of the game. I just really didn't want to believe that an official would say something like that in any game situation. If this official told the Lincoln Co coach that, wouldn't it just be the right thing to tell the Raceland coach the same? I feel certain the Lady Rams would go for a 3 instead of a layup had they had the same information. They have several above average 3 point shooters. I overheard the Lincoln Co. coach tell Raceland's coach the shot was good. Later I saw the film. Shot was good and no charge was called... As Ramland said, the Lincoln Co girls are a hardworking, very defensive team. Congrats on the win and good luck.

Russell may be the favorite in this one. If Raceland's top starters play hard they could make a game of it.

I guess that would depend on who you talk to. The lincoln co coach told the raceland coach the point was good. The film also agrees and shows no charge call.

How about this: While Raceland's sophomore guard is a good shooter and scorer, he will become one of the better players in the area when he learns to take better care of the ball. leave out the turnover stat... Turning something that sounds negative into something positive just takes a little forethought. You can do it...just give it a try. If you apply it to all areas of your life, you may even walk around with a smile on your face.:thumb:

The sophomore guard that statmaster refers to has been the second leading scorer in several games already this season. He may make a few turnovers a game, (due to inexperienced varsity play), but IMO the points and steals the kid puts in the books more than balance out the discrepancy. This kid also went 15/16 in receptions during the regular football season, so he's more than proved his athleticism. He'll make the transition to basketball very smoothly all the while contributing to the Ram victories. I think Holbrook is playing extremely well. He takes care of all the "little things" that don't show on the books. He holds the team together and IMO is definitely the leader on the court. He told me himself that last night wasn't his best game and was a bit disappointed. It is early in the season, and the boys will continue to improve day by day.

Only what I heard the announcer read after the game: Vanderhoof - 16 pts Paige Porter - 13 pts. Katelynd Porter - 5 pts. Sorry but I missed Seals' total pts. I was visiting with my brother. :thumb:
