I know its true...... and he did say that Miller will score his 30+. He obviously gives Miller his props as a shooter, albeit in a round about way.

I have said over and over that Miller is an incredibily gifted shooter, as good as there is. I have also said that he is a great athlete who can handle the ball very well. However, I agree with Les in that he doesnt play much defense. I dont think that its a lack of desire or ability, just a lack of coaching IMO. I think it also has to do with the fact that Miller feels like a lone ranger on that team, and doesnt feel like he is surrounded with good talent. That is what happens when you play for a basketball program like M'boro. Les watches a lot of basketball, and sports in general. What he says is very credible. Doubt he has any personal vendetta against Miller.

I totally agree and have not said otherwise. Just bothers me when certain ppl overhype this.

Once again...... Miller is a great shooter and great athlete. I have given him all the props in the world. That doesnt mean he is D1A, especially at the level of a UofL or UK basketball program. 3 pages of YOU talking about how he might, in a one in a million chance, get a scholly to UofL........ and everyone else talking about how ridiculous you are. I could care less about your family. If anything you are saying has an inkling of truth then it was sooooo long ago that you were recruited that your assessments of recruiting dont even apply considering the recruiting game has changed sooo much in the last several years. First off....... basketball and football are the 2 major money making sports at the D1 level. FACT! Because of that recruiting is very very different between them and baseball. FACT. To make a statement, like you did, that you "know" major D1 basketball recruiting like its your job because you were recruited in baseball is ridiculous. As far as D1AA in football and basketball..... I agree, there is a drop off and that is why it exists. My outlook on basketball and footall being the major 2 sports at the D1 level has nothing to do with Bell Co, it is just FACT. I am stooping to no level to make the statement that football and basketball are the big 2 at the D1 level, because they are. That has nothing to do with Bell Co or HS sports whatsoever. I would agree that baseball is the big sport at M'boro, but that doesnt mean that it is at any D1 school, because it isnt. As far as bellalumni40...... he will speak for himself. But I know the guy personally and was just simply clarifying what he said, since you obviously misunderstood some of what he said. I am sure he didnt mind. I will assure you I am not jealous of your family, and anyone who knows me personally on this board will vouch that I have nothing to be jealous of. I dont believe Bell's field is ever a watered mudhole when M'boro and Bell meet. They usually meet around the 2nd game of the season, and the field is usually in as good a shape as it ever is due to the fact that only 1 game has been played on it, and it hasnt endured the wear and weather of a 13 or 14 game season, as in HHS' case. Not to mention the fact that if "that watered mudhole" was the reason for him losing so many games there, then he should win just as many games when Bell rolls down 25E to Middlesboro's field, but it hasnt happened. They have lost just as many at home as at Bell. Dont know what your deal is bro...... but you need to get a hobby. This thread doesnt even involve HHS, so why are you here! Big difference between 2 teams that reside in the same county and traditionally meet each year, and 2 teams that meet once every several years. Highlands HS doesnt reside in the Bell County county limits. So NO. I dont think you want that analogy to hold up anyways, cause that would mean the last team to beat HHS at Highlands would own Highlands. Thats a big can of worms.

First off........ bellalumni40 did not say he was recruited by UK. He said he was involved in the recruiting process after getting to UK as a college student. He also never said he was signed by a D1 school, or that D1 signee ever came out of Bell's baseball program...... he said he had the oppurtunity to WALK-ON at a D1 school, and that he was recruited at all different levels. Just clarification. As far as sleeping tonight...... I will sleep just fine knowing that you are full of complete bologne. I'm not calling you a liar.......but you played D1A baseball, as well as your father, and your grandfather, and your brother? It didnt happen, unless I am just totally not considering the school you went to D1A. :sssh: Not to mention the fact that if you think you know all there is to know about recruiting in the big 2 (football and basketball) because you were recruited in baseball, you are completely full of it. HUGE DIFFERENCE in recruiting between the 2 major money making sports on just about any D1 campus, as compared to recruiting in baseball.

The difference between an official and an unofficial is just the level of interest a school is expressing. Usually if you get invited on an unofficial you have either been offered a scholarship or a preferred walk-on spot. Alot of kids take unofficials, and you dont have to be invited, although you can be, to take an unofficial. Very few take officials and you MUST be invited. As far as D1AA...... what programs are showing serious interest in Miller???

Dont know who you are???......... but if you are from M'boro, or that area, which I'm sure you are, then I am also sure I would know who you are.....if all of that was true of course. I know of no one in M'boro, or Bell County that can boast of that, at least not in football or basketball.

RECRUITING: I know how recruiting works, first hand. I have been on both sides, as a player being recruited, and as a person helping to recruit. I highly doubt this is an official visit. I dont know for sure and I COULD BE TOTALLY WRONG, but its highly unusual for a player, who has received no prior interest from a team, to just up and receive and invite for an official from that team, especially this late in the process. Maybe UofL thinks they have found a diamond in the rough, but that remains to be seen. MILLER AS A PLAYER: I have nothing against Miller as a person. From all accounts he is a great kid. I also think that he is a great basketball player and athlete, and that he can shoot the lights out as good as anyone, create his own shot, and handle the ball extremely well. True he takes alot of shots, but he drains alot of shots too, and I have seen him hit several big time shots with 2 hands in his face, fading away. He is an impressive shooter, period. With his stats, he will go down as one of the best in this state, right up there with Lofton, and we all see what Lofton is doing. WHY I DOUBT IT: Once again, I think his height will hurt him playing the 2G, which is where he will project because HE ISNT a point guard at the college level (6'0 from what I can tell. I am a lil over 6'1 and he was a tad shorter then me. He might be 5'11, but I wouldnt think any shorter). I also think the HS program he is coming from will hurt him. Who was the last major D1 basketball signee to come out of M'boro? Vouch, Miller can overcome both of these, but I am just saying that its gonna be tough. Also, look at the schools Miller is receiving interest from. Most of them NAIA or D2 or D3 schools. Not even D1AA. That makes me doubt that Pitino is really interested. UofL, UK, etc etc etc doesnt battle those schools for their recruits. They are fighting for McDonald All Americans and potential "straight out of HS to the pros" type players. I am not trying to knock Miller with any of this, just bringing everyone back to reality. I will also repeat that Miller is located NOWHERE on UofL's Rivals recruiting databases, and those people are pretty good about what they do. Vouch, they do miss a few kids, especially late recruits, but that is few and far between. MY PROBLEM: Several have stated it clearly. The second a kid gets any kind of interest, whether it be legit or not, fans start hyping it up as if it is a done deal. I hate that. They build these kids up, only to watch them fall. LET THE KID EARN HIS WAY and quit making mountains out of mole hills!!! Let this play out. If Miller is good enough to be at UofL, Pitino will offer him, or at least give his the status of preferred walk-on. If Miller isnt good enough then you as a fan are just pouring salt on the wounds of a HS kid who thinks hes BIG TIME because some fan on BGP got online and started hyping him up. IN CLOSING: I congratulate Miller on the oppurtunity to take ANY KIND of visit to UofL. I hope everything works out for him for the best at the next level and I believe he will be a asset to any team he joins, D1A or othewise.

Bell Co or Corbin has never ask anyone to let up on them or complained about a score, but Middlesboro is a different story, maybe it's something else other than running up the score.

So in the 49th it looks like Clay vs North at Clay, 50th SL vs Corbin at Corbin, 51st B'ville vs Pineville at Pineville, and 52nd Bell vs Cawood/Harlan at ??? That will be some interesting district championship matchups!!!

WOW, this makes SL look very good. Dont know much about Holmes, but for the #14 team in the state (according to BGP) to get beat this bad by NCH without 2 of their best players, it makes SL's game against them earlier this season look very impressive.

I have no hard proof of whether him being contacted is true or false. I would think no one would post lies on this board so I will assume that he has been contacted and everything we have been told is true. So the answer is no, I dont think the info is false. I am just saying that if UofL were serious about offering him, he PROBABLY would have been contacted before this, and he would PROBABLY be on the Rivals database. I am not saying that late recruitment and offers dont happen, because they do. I am also not saying that the Rivals database doesnt miss a few kids here and there, because they do. Like I said before, Pitino may think he has found a diamond in the rough. I hope that is true.

:thumb: Always believed there to be a correlation between great person, and great coach. It doesnt always work out that way, but most of your great coaches are great ppl too. Solid win SL. Based on Wright's comments, looks like they are getting back to what has made them great.

I will address each of your 4 concerns seperatley, but first, let me say....... chill out and dont get so darn offensive. 1.) I congratulated him because any kid who gets some form of recognition for his ability on the court deserves congratulations. It is obviously quite an accomplishment to be invited to visit a college and I am not trying to diminish that whatsoever. However, I guess I wasnt clear. There is a big difference between the congratulations that I gave...... and the congratulations that alot of ppl on this board are giving. The fact remains NO OFFER has been made, and until one is made, no one should be shoveling crow at anyone else. I wont even be the one eating it because I have said all along that he is a great shooter and athlete, and possibly could play at the D1 level. I think there are alot of things holding him back, namely his height and the program and area he comes from, but I hope he overcomes that and goes on to have a great college career, whether it be at UofL or anywhere else. 2.) You are completely correct..... I know very little about his specific situation, which is why I was speaking in generalizations. However, I do understand the recruiting process (both of football and basketball). If he has indeed been contacted by a UofL assistant coach and invited personally over the phone then this is a legit interest. The fact remains it is still extremely late in the recruiting process, and one phone call for a visit is a far cry from an offer. Once again, I hope I am wrong and when he makes the visit he receives an offer on the spot. 3.) There is a gargantuan difference between offers from LMU, Carson Newman, Walter State, Morehead, SIU, Belmont, and an offer from UofL. Pitino and UofL dont battle those schools for their recruits, trust me. I am glad that Miller has waited around and that his decision to do so may be opening bigger and better doors for him. But the keyword is MAY be opening bigger doors. 4.) It is an OFFICIAL VISIT? So he will be staying the weekend, touring the campus, hanging with the coaches, etc etc etc. I didnt know that? I find it hard to believe considering he hasnt even taken an unofficial visit, or received any interest from UofL prior to this. However, if it is for sure an official visit, then once again, congrats to Miller. However, being the voice of reason, official visits dont always = scholarship offers either. Lots of kids get invited for official visits because coaches want them as preferred walk-ons. Even if that is the case with Miller, then it is still quite an accomplishment. Better then has been seen around here in basketball in a long time. In closing, I am not trying to diminish Miller as a player or as a college recruit. I am simply saying that before ppl get on here and start hyping him up and shoveling crow at me or anyone else, they need to let things happen and develop and get the full story. It seems like this happens every year, only for the kid to either sign nowhere or end up at a smaller school. There is nothing wrong with that, but there is something wrong with ppl hyping those kids up, only to watch them fall. Once again I hope it works out for Miller. On a side note: Maybe someone should inform CardinalSports.com, the leading media outlet for recruiting news at UofL, of Pitinos interest in Miller. Miller is nowhere to be found on there recruiting boards or databases. Not saying that Rivals is the be all and end all of recruiting, but if he isnt on that site then I doubt he is on Pitinos radar. Rivals very rarely misses a kid if he is legit.

Once again though, before we get all fired up I think we need to let this play out and see what happends. Being contacted for a UNOFFICIAL VISIT is a far cry from an OFFICIAL VISIT or a SCHOLARSHIP OFFER. I hope it all works out well for Miller though and I wish him the best of luck. I may be his harshest critic, but I will give credit where credit is due. I just hate when kids get hyped and hyped and hyped and then its just a let down. First off let me say that I havent been bashing Miller. What I have done is state that I think Proffitt from SL is a better PG and all around player then Miller. I dont think that is bashing. All I have been doing is simply giving my honest assessment of his ability as an all around player. I have always given Mr. Miller credit for his ability as a shooter and as an athlete. As a matter of fact if you go to the other thread on this topic you will see that I congratulated Miller and said he deserved every oppurtunity he was given. I am ALL FOR any kid from the mountains being successful on the field of play and being given the oppurtunity to go on to college (especially here in their home state) and represent this area. As far as this topic is concerned though, I think alot is being made to do about nothing. No scholarship offer has been made, no OFFICIAL visit has been planned, and its important to remember that, although Louisville obviously has some interest in Miller, it may not be as much interest as is being portrayed. Lots of kids receive letters and invitations for unofficial visits. As a matter of fact, unless the letters are hand written, they are mass produced, stamped by the head coaches secretary with the head coaches signature, and the same letter is sent to every POSSIBLE recruit (not even actual legit recruit, but just kids that the team has some very moderate interest in). The same doesnt just go for letters, it goes for unofficial visits. Any highschool kid that a school is even remotely interested in receives an invitation for an unofficial visit, even if the school is not REALLY considering giving the kid a scholarship. When Miller is offered or given an invitation for a OFFICIAL visit or Pitino shows up at M'boro highschool, then I think we can start congratulating Miller. Until then I think everyone should just chill. I hope all of these things happen for Miller. But let them happen, dont try to build a kid up only to watch him fall. This happens every year with kids from the moutains because ppl are so dead set on proving that kids from the moutains "CAN PLAY WITH THE BEST." I totally agree they can play with the best, but building a kid up doesnt prove that, they have to do it on their own, and if they deserve the hype then they will get it without the help of their fans. I think its also important to remember that with this attention coming this late in the ball game, it doesnt traditionally bode well for the player. If UofL or any other D1 school was going to offer Miller it would have already happened. He is finishing up his senior season and if any major D1 school, especially a powerhouse, was interested in him they would have already had him up for visits, receiving coaching visits and phone calls, and on and on and on. These coaches do their homework, and if he hasnt been receiving major interest yet, its very unlikely he will be receiving in now. I hope I am completely wrong and UofL feel like they have found an undiscovered diamond in the rough. Let me repeat that, I hope I am wrong and everything works out for Miller. On the topic of Millers ability...... I will stick with my stance that Miller is an incredibily gifted 3 point shooter and a great athlete who handles the ball very well. I think 3 things hurt him with regards to college recruitment: 1.) his height 2.) his highschool program 3.) his "stigma" of being one dimensional as JUST a 3 point shooter, and not a all around great player. He is a poor defender at times. #1 can be overcome, we see it all the time. #2 really shouldnt even be an issue, but when it comes to college recruiting, college coaches want kids that come from winning programs. However, I think Miller's ability gets him past #2. #3 IMO will come down to whether a college coach thinks hes a big enough reward to take the risk. I personally think Miller has all the tools to be a great defender and all around player, if he had the coaching and talent around him to to do so (which he hasnt had either of those), so who knows. You also have to take into consideration NEEDS. If Pitino or any other coach feels like they need a great 3 point shooter, they will take a chance on Miller. If they dont feel like a big need is having a great 3 point shooter, then they wont. Pure and simple. I could honestly see Miller being a player alot like Chris Lofton, however he doenst play defense like Lofton, he isnt coming from a championship program like Lofton, and he is close to 3 inches shorter then Lofton. Miller will be a very dangerous shooter wherever he goes and will be an asset to any team he joins. I hope everything works out for him and that this UofL thing follows through for him. I am not trying to knock the kid down or say he isnt one of the best, I am simply talking facts of the matter. I wish him the best of luck.
