Lets not forget our Spring Intra-squad game. We do not charge but that would be another way to gouge if you want the money. Lights, water, ect. must be used so therefore a charge must be forth-coming if you want to see your Kid play or you are an avid fan according to some it would not be a problem, so lets get the tickets ready...:laugh:

... I am pretty sure that charging for scrimmage games in Ky. used to be illegal until a few years ago I have read the rules on it and it is definitely legal to do so. Legally right as of now, but in my opinion it is still gouging wheras all schools do not choose to do so...

No hostility intended, merely another point of view...I suppose that there is more pressure to be #1. IMO we have just as much fun as you big powerhouses at a heck of lessor cost. Thats right we don't charge our parents and fans for practice, then again we do not have the overhead...

...We are a 5-A school that incurr the same costs that you do. We do not feel it necessary to GOUGE at evert oppunity that you are saying. It appears to me that some of you have become a little capitalistic. If you must charge for practice games then you should rethink your program financing. I can certainly afford the $3.00-$5.00 but my point is " have some programs let their fund raising and spending get out of hand?" We have a Booster Club that I guess is second to none. That is why we do not have to gouge like the oil companies. I have a novel idea; those of you that think it is okay to take advantage should set up a gate and charge each and every parent to attend practice. Better yet, you could charge Parents for picking up their Kids...

Does anyone know if the gate profits from the scrimmage(practice) is shared with the visiting team, like the Bowls?...

Thank God we have other ways of supporting our team rather than gouge the already over-taxed, underpaid parents that are putting the bill and are the biggest supporters during the regular season. A scrimmage game is merely practice, counts for nothing except giving your team reps. We do reps everyday. The next thing I hear will probably be that someone should start charging for practice. We fed and watered not only our Kids after our scrimmage, but Russell County players and Staff. Come on now, if we and the majority of teams do not charge, then charging constitutes GOUGING,,,

... I think that is great...I am sorry if I offended you in doubting you motives. I do not remember doing so and if it did happen, it will not happen again. I was there. Wish I had known who you were. Were you there with Max? I thought it a decent scrimmage considering all the various looks. Rock had some "hosses". A good team. But I'll have to give the edge to Coach Engle and his Warriors....

Ole Keemo will be at the Ray Correll Bowl catching Somerset/Pulaski Co. and Southwestern/ Rockcastle games on Aug 24th. Then venture the following day to the Bob Allen Pigskin Classic in Danville.:thumb:

Last Saturday I attended the Pulaski County Youth League and was charged $3 to see my Grandson scrimmage 10 offensive and 10 defensive plays. All school teams within the league(8) were positioned to play on half the field. There are 3 divisions from each school(peewee. jrs., srs.). Parents and Grandparents flocked to see their kids play. When I left there was a line of cars 1/4 mi. long. This was rediculous. The youth League really GOUGED the community and it was not right. I hope they get alot of negative feedback as a result ...:fight:

No charge at Southwestern High School. I do like the idea of can good donations for the needy or toys for the Kids...

...Hey MM, I believe you are the Lone Maroon. It appears that not many PC supporters are out here. I have noticed very weak support on this and other local forums. Fan support seems to have really deminished since the days of Cole Draughn and Johnny Denham (2003). Are the fans just giving up? Thats a shame if they have just dropped the Kids. Last year PC played SWHS their final 2 games of the season. Though they lost, they played their hearts out. Could Johnny Hines be playing possum? Could be...

... I was stating to another poster whom said that SHS had skilled players returning. I was merely suggesting that Deaton was not returning and he was a majoy player last year. I expect Chase to step in there a be a fine QB for the Jumpers. I would be remiss not to point out that we have alot of returning Varsity players that started last year. Not all of our graduating Seniors were starters last year. Granted we had a fine senior group, but also have the finest class of juniors that SWHS has ever had. This year we are not rebuilding, we are reloading...

Rockcastle County and SWHS have battled pretty even (wins) over the last 5 years. Rock decidedly having the upper hand before that. It took us 5-6 years to get our "feeder" program set-up. Now we have Kids getting to the high school level with football savvy. IMHO, I think that is why we are now playing fairly equal with the Rock. A good example of what I am saying will unfold tomorrow night at Southern Middle School where the 7th and 8th grade teams will scrimmage. Both teams having excellent 8th grade teams. We have our feeded schools and our Youth League all on the same page with our high school. I believe that is the key to success...:thumb:

I maybe over stated "by far". I am a SWHS fan and maybe sometime a little zelous. No offense to the other Schools and their fans. If you have not seem SWHS then you cannot imagine the Warriors are that good of a team after losing 18 seniors. One thing that I question about your statement is that the most valuable of SHS skilled players(Ross Deaton) will definitely be missed especially by John Cole. Maybe Hall can step up, but Deaton left an alfully big pair of cleats to fill...

... I certainly hope that there is a great show of support for Rockcastle County. I would expect a great team with such tradition would have great support. It is such a short distance from there to here. Coach Larkey will have his team ready and we know it. I truly expect a grand game. We know that we were highly scouted by Rock last week and we will return the act this week at North Laurel. All the scouting in the world cannot help when our teams leave it all on the field. I expect the game between Rockcastle and SWHS to be a real knockdown-dragout type battle. Of course you do realize that you are venturing into Pulaski County and PC and SHS will be overwhelming supporting our effort against the Rockets. Beat the bush and drum up support to come over here. Expectations are high here even with Rock being the favorite. Lets hope that win or lose our Kids make a good showing and that with the physical contact which will be "smash mouth" football at its best will not result in any injurys to anyone.
