Raceland 22 Paris 6
I wouldn't consider Russell as great this year. Average/slightly above average but getting the job done game by game. Sorry to hijack the thread but that is my opinion.

I certainly hope so.

3A State Champs Predictions??
Just making observations. Nothing based off of any knowledge at all... I don't know about the Ashland game being the best win. IMO Ashland, Boyd, Greenup and Lawrence are about at the same level so all those games are a wash. Russell's true test will come in the next 2 weeks facing 6A Simon Kenton and the district foe in Mason.

On the other side of that coin is all 3 teams have Belfry playing down in class. You have 2 AA and an A team in there. So I would find it hard to judge just how good Belfry is based on those teams. Aside from Corbin I don't think the others are what one would call powerhouses. But I can't say much. My team has played a 5A and 3 4A teams and none of those games were a terrible challenge either. The down the stretch we have a 6A and a 1A to finish out the season.

It wasn't a knock on the coaching staff being young. I just meant that as a group they have not been together very long. At Russell Coach McGlone has been there for 30 years and some of his assistants has been there 20. They are to the point that they don't even have to discuss much because one knows what the other is thinking. It normally takes a bit of time for everything to come together the way they want it to. 06 was a magical season. One to remember. But it is tough to build off of.

Simon Kenton vs Russell Predictions
The home win streak is at 34 as of last night. Yes they have played a bit uninspired. They came out last night and allowed Lewis to march right down the field into the red zone and almost score. I believe that if the Lewis Co receivers could have held onto the ball Russell would have started yet another game from behind. But I really hope that Russell comes out fired up and ready to play and protect their home win streak that the 04 team started. The game is meaningless as far as district standings are concerned but I think it will be the toughest test Russell has faced this year.

Thanks! I guess that some may or may not realize that talent like Mercer had in the backfield last year in Jackson and Ford does not come by very often. Ask Russell with Clark and Gross and Belfry with Jones and Howard. Talent like that is tough to replace. I was just hoping that the boys did not get down on themselves because of the spectacular start they had as Titans. The first year running the table and starting of the second year on that same not. Then to lose several by very slim margins can be a tough pill to swallow for a young team and coaching staff.

True, but it is in stark contrast to the margin of victory from last years team. Going from winning by blowouts one year to to losing squeakers the next is hard on morale.

If you weren't such a pretty boy they wouldn't be trying to interview you all the time.

Jones did have that 1 yard TD run and he sprinted to the endzone to try to catch a pass but that was all the action I saw out of him.

Russell vs Lawrence County
That seems to be one thing that has given every team fits. He leads the team in passing yards, rushing yards, touchdowns and scoring. Tough player and fun to watch. I am heading out in a few minutes. Have not been to Lawrence since the Russell/Lawrence JV game back in 03 I believe.

Russell is still beating their opponents by a margin of 36-16. 3 TD's is a pretty good margin in my book.

Not to totally derail the thread but did anyone see where Jeridans is being bought out by the son of one of the original founders? He is also the owner of Crisps in Summit.

That is true. I need to make the trip over to see them and take the dogs with me. They just love my dogs. Now Porkie could care less about them but Jodi loves them.

You must already know me because if I bought something it definitely would have to be wide. I think Jodi would have a stroke if I came in there and bought something that had orange in it.

Raceland/Greenup Co. Predictions
I don't have a traveling partner to the Russell/Lawrence game and I really don't want to go by myself. Where is the game played at? I may wonder down that way if the Raceland fans will be hospitible.....:sssh:
