I would caution those that think he is over the hump. Randolph Morris had a better chance of being drafted out of high school than after either of his first two college seasons. I am not comparing Morris to Mayo just using him as an example. I got another one for you Felipe Lopez, on the cover of SI while in HS went to St Johns ended up scoring over 1000 I think but never could quite make it in the league.

Mayo will be 19 in two months. He will be 21 at the beginning of his first season in the NBA if he goes into the draft at first chance. He will be fully grown. What happens if he goes to college one year and doesn't blow people away. How much can his draft stock possibly drop in one year?

If we are having a discussion about the strength of classes, what will next year be like.

I wish the best for Mr. Clark, I said I think that no one around here runs harder. I just hope that my perception of what I witnessed on the football field and what I witnessed on the basketball court last year do no hinder this young man's pursuit of his dreams. I do not question his physical ablility. I think that if possible to watch footage of the pregame of Ashland and Russell this year and last you would notice a difference in his behavior. Pride cometh before desstruction and an haughty spirit before a fall.

The biggest difference that I noticed in Clark and Thomas last Friday was that Clark wanted everyone to notice him, often standing by himself out of huddles, taking his helmet off after a score, he appeared to have forgotten that football is 11 on 11 and Thomas never indicated that he placed his worth greater than the team. Clark is the hardest runner in the area no doubt, I hope that his attitude is not a cancer as Russell tries to repeat.

Kids change. Not saying that OJ has. I coached a kid in baseball at the age of 14. He had just moved to the area in which I lived. He was the best player in the league, he could do anything he wanted and did anything I asked from playing centerfield to catching. Never a complaint was uttered. This young man in high school was 6'4'' approx 220 and returned kicks. He could have played football at the D1 level, he had scouts asking for his high school baseball schedule to come and watch, at minimum he could have had a free education. He kept being told how great he was and never made it past high school. If you hear things enough you will start to believe them. I hope that OJ is the same OJ that you remember and has not become a product of his environment.

Why do you compare the weaknesses of Rondo and Lofton to Jackson. Why not ask Does he finish better than Rondo and shoot better than Lofton? If those guys are measuring sticks why would I not want to focus on their strengths to outperform? I think that Jackson has more upsides than down, don't sell him short by comparing him to someone else's weaknesses.

Don't know about the fields but didn't someone say that Boyd County schools dismissed early?

Most people that are complaining about the move seem to be from Russell. I have thought about this and I have figured it out. They are worried that moving the game to Saturday will give Boyd County a chance to scout them in person.

I think we need to call a doc. BR549 is not acting like himself. Do believe those posts? SBob if Rose Hill will be competitive after Euton, why would they vote not to seed. In one post you state that while Euton may be a special player those that follow will be good as well. In another you claim that the success will cycle. Euton may be there 4 more years and those that follow another 4 or 5 I guess. Why wouldn't you want to seed for at least the next 8 or 9 years?

Frances, I agree we can't jump to any conclusions about anyone. In defense of Redblood he may have an inside track on replacing Ashland on the schedule with his school of choice. We can't point fingers here. It is football season and basketball doesn't start officially until November. I know he is uptight about the defensive schemes of the football team and is questioning the coaching staff after two games. This could just be stress related. We should give him the benefit of the doubt either way.

Thought so, it is possible for the Clark kid to win Mr. Football. He put himself in the mix during last year's title game. If Anderson or Beaumont go off when Male plays Trinity it will be over. If they both have subpar games and Clark puts up numbers who knows.

I think that they will get better. I think that an extra week of practice with some questions answered will help. If Mahan improves and McDavid plays with confidence (forget about the drops) it will be interesting. I think the key to playing against this Russell group revolves around being discipline on defense. By that I mean using your keys and making good reads and not overcomitting to the misdirection. If they can do those things initially and make sure tackles at the end it will be tight. These things need to be done week in and week out but this Russell team has the ability to make you pay for mistakes. Can't wait til Friday.
