This year is tough with Vic Anderson and I think the kid from Male is Beaumont, not sure. Both are of course from Louisville, but both are probably as good as Clark if not better. Score aside, I think it is just as important to learn how to handle winning as well losing. Last night after the final little league game of the year, the winning pitcher and arguably the leader of the GA team said C'mon guys let's go tell them good game. This kid already knows what many adults need to learn or relearn. Etiquette and gamesmanship are just as much a part of competition as the score. This needs to be taught to the youngster's by example. I am not referring to this game with this post. I wasn't there and I don't know how each side reacted. I am just posting my thoughts.

Earl Woods had a child prodigy. He pushed and demanded excellence. Made choices that we probably wouldn't have agreed with at the time. He did this for the good of his son, not himself. The adults involved with OJ seem to make their interests a higher priority than him. Here's a thought, the basketball court may be the only place in this 18 year old boy's life that the decisions for his well being are his own. You hear a lot of athletes talk about the only place where everything is ok is on the field of competition. If that is the case with this young man, I hope that he never quits playing basketball. That being said the people making the decisions off the court are truly making this a circus. I think they are the source for ridicule not Mr. Mayo.

I posted the Olympic comment. You bring up an interesting point about Canada. If OJ played in Canada this year and they had some marked up documents about citizenship he could then choose who to play for in international competition and cash in big time. I think that he should leave Cincunington and look up prep schools in Canada.

I appreciate the support from rickyp. This coming from a man that shaves other men's legs. (read it another post) I will not attempt to retaliate here, I know that Mr. P is under a lot of stress with the current youth athletic scene and his own inability to understand the option. I have nothing but best wishes for him. I would like for him to remember that Gal. 5:23 mentions longsuffering as a product of love. As for the middle school game there are a lot of things that go on during a game and only those that tend to support one's views end up on here. The people involved know exactly what went on and what emotions were involved.

With the renewed, spirit of nationalism that the USA basketball team is creating. Would you ever want these top ranked players to represent the USA in competition? If you hesitate with your answer or the answer is no, do you want them to represent your high school? If this answer is yes then a championship is tainted.

Did the story say that they can't find a 6'11'' kid? Whereabouts are unknown? Somebody knows where this kid is. These guys may be better suited for the And1 tour than college and then the NBA.

My kids go to Ashland schools and my best friends kids go to Rose Hill. I don't ever want any garbage to change that relationship. If my children play against his I hope we win but not to the point that I lose sight of the fact that we are strangers passing through this world and my hope is not in junior high football or high school football. No my kids don't play for Verity. I hope that when they are older they will play. If they don't, turkeys beware.
