All "A" teams to Sweet 16??
centuriondawg replied to centuriondawg's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
What teams might that be? -
I haven't been following the All "A" scene much this year as my team is no longer eligible. I was just wondering who some of the top All "A" team are around the state and if any of them have a good chance to make it to Rupp come March? I always love it when the small schools make it to State.

Top Ten Mr. Basketball candidates?
centuriondawg replied to strongopenyon's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I love that list....but I don't know if Buckner will get it. He didn't shine his junior year and people aer just now starting to hear about him. I hope and think he deserves it but Walt Allen will get it after his stellar State Tournament showing and his success of his junior and senior year. -

CAL 58 J-Town 55. Great win for the Centurions and Coach Imlay. CAL led by Jon Hornback's 16 points and Jake Peterson's 17 points. Play of the night was by CAL's Blake Knotts. In the second quarter just after a J-Town basket, CAL threw the ball in bounds to Knotts who was about 6 feet on to the court. J-Town applied some pressure and Knotts tried to hit Andrew Jones at the other end of the court. Knotts cocked back and threw a one handed baseball pass, but instead of hitting Jones he banked it in!!!! About an 85 foot shot. It shocked everyone including the refs who didn't raise there hands for three until about 10 seconds later. Congrats CAL and Coach Imlay for an incredible win.

Diogenes.... No I haven't been to Trinity's new stadium. I live not 3 minutes from it and have only driven by it before. From the road it looks nice. Compared to the other stadiums around town, it probably has the best surface with the sportsturf. The only thing I can't tell is how many seat do they have. I remember the stadium before they re-did it and the visitors side wasn't very nice and didn't have many seats. Did they do anything about that? I'll have to check a game out there next year. -
Fern Creek 59 Ballard 58
centuriondawg replied to centuriondawg's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Ballard has the players to be good and can beat anyone, they just can't seem to get it done. I don't know if it's the coaching, or something with the players or what?? But something is for sure wrong with that team. -
Fern Creek 59 Ballard 58

SORRY everyone...posted the wrong score!!!! Fern Creek still won, but the score was 68-63. Sorry about that. -
Fern Creek beats Ballard by one. Ballard having a bad year, yet is some how still in the top 20 in the LIT ratings. Congrats Tigers on the win.

WOW 14,000. Thats a lot. Next time I go to Manual Stadium I'll pay more attention to see how big their stands are. That is by far the biggest, that I know of, in the Commonwealth. I was talking to a buddy of mine the other day about Male and Manual stadiums and we came to this... Male's stadium is like Great American Ballpark, newer and more nice and good sized. Manual Stadium is like Wrigley Field, it has all the history in the world at that place. Not the nicest ever but very historic. Both places are great in their own ways. -

Largest in the Commonwealth? Is it bigger than Male's Stadium? I've been to both many times and to me Male's looks bigger, but don't know the exact numbers. Male's is by far the nicer stadium, but lacks the history that Manual Stadium has. -
Top players - under the radar
centuriondawg replied to DMZ76's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I totally agree. I don't know what else he has to do to get respect. Hopefully after his stellar performance in the LIT he will get some. -
WOW!!! What a game. Eastern led the first three quarters and seemed to be in control. But PRP turned up the pressure and forced Eastern into making turnovers as PRP came back in the 4th quarter to take a 5 point lead. PRP was up 4 with 45 seconds left until Buckner hit a 3 to pull the Eagles within 1. With 9 seconds left PRP makes one of two freethrows to go up 2. But with 4 seconds left Buckner hits a three and gets fouled by PRP's Decker and makes the freethrow to go up 2. PRP's Vincent Crutcher's jumper missed and an open putback by one of the Panthers misses as time ran out. Eastern's Robert Buckner gets MVP honors.

Eastern and PRP move on the finals tonight after both winning tough games this morning. Eastern is probably the favorite in the 7th region and PRP is probably the favorite in the 6th region. It should be a good one. What does everyone think about it? My prediction is Eastern by 3.

LIT:PRP 63 Fern Creek 60
centuriondawg replied to Mr. No Name's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I heard PRP was up big most of the game and Fern Creek came back and PRP needed a three at the buzzer to win it. -
DeSales 72 South Laurel 65 (OT)

WOW!!! Another shocker. Who would have thought it would be St.X against Desales in the secong round. Congrats on the win Colts. -
LIT:St.X 59 Ballard 51
centuriondawg replied to Mr. No Name's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
WOW!!! I know Ballard is down this year but I thought they could at least pull this one off. Congrats Tigers on the win. Ballard is really struggling now. I've seen them play a couple times this year and noticed they really don't have any true basketball players. Other than Beckham the rest of the team are just athletes and not true b-ball players. -
Buckner from Eastern
centuriondawg replied to thepeopleschamp's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Saw Buckner play against CAL Friday night and saw him a few times last year. He has great athletic ability, maybe best in the region. His shooting is a little questionable. He missed 4 or 5 three-pointers against CAL and his shot just doesn't look comfortable. But his ability to slash to the basket makes up for it. -
If I was to make a team of ten out of those guys here's who it would be.... Starters.... PG-Rajon Rondo (Eastern) SG-Allan Houston (Ballard) SF-Jason Osbourne (Male) PF-Scott Padgett (St.X) C-Felton Spencer (Eastern) Bench... Larry O'Bannon (Male) Tony Kimbro (Seneca) David Shee (Male/CAL) Will Partin (Ballard) Dwayne Lightfoot (J-Town)

I'm gonna try the unthinkable and give the top 25 from the 7th region. Now I was born in 1984 and can only remember people from about '91 on and what people I've heard about in the 80's...so here's my list. Don't get mad if I leave some one off. Allan Houston (Ballard) Jeff Lamb (Ballard-I believe) Jason Osbourne (Male) Dwayne Lightfoot (J-Town) Chris Shumate (Male) Jermaine Taylor (Eastern) Rajon Rondo (Eastern) Brandon Bender (Ballard) Scott Padgett (St.X) Larry O'Bannon (Male) Carlos Hurt (Moore)...I hate putting that but he was good Felton Spencer (Eastern) Kenny Phelps (Male) Justin Cornell (Fern Creek) David Shee (Male/CAL) Micheal Bush (Male) Adam Chiles (Ballard) Tony Kimbro (Seneca) Brian Thornton (Manual) Nick Nash (Trinity) Travis Kiser (CAL) Matt Endy (KCD) Will Partin (Ballard) Herb Crook (Eastern) Mark Bell (Ballard) OK that's all I could think of, wow that was hard. I'm sure i'm missing some one.
