I didn't say either one was better than the other.I haven't seen Clark play at all as Johnson Central has not played Russell. I find it hard to say one is better than another if I have not seen both. Clark may be the better of the two, I honestly dont know. I just asked when you had seen Grim play. I just wondered if you had made your way down to Paintsville any time this season because Johnson Central has not played in the Ashland area at all this year. I just wondered what game you might have seen that you are basing your judgement on. It could have possibly not been one of his better games. I was just curious. Personally I am not a homer in as much that I would not choose the one that I honestly felt was better. No one cant honestly say anyone is better than anyone else if have not actually seen both.

Changing your mind about the outcome of a game just because you dont like the attitude of some posters does not say a whole lot about the thought process that went into either prediction. The funny thing about this post is that probably 90% of all the folks up there in Ashland can probably trace their roots back here to the armpit. Probably a good chance that even you can make the same claim. Duhhh, I think before you post about Central playing in the weakest district you might want to think about what you post before you post it, because Ashland plays in the same district as Johnson Central. That's why this game is being referred to as the DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP game.

lol!! Yeah, I guess I do. Anybody that knows me knows I'm half blind and about deaf anyways, but I guess that does make my earlier statement about Catholic have a little relevence after all. You just said in a post two days ago that Johnson Central will beat Ashland by 21 and Ashland's season will end. Maybe your memory is quite possibly in the same shape as my sight. lol!!!

I would think that you would be more concerned with the running game of your own team rather than worrying about if Johnson Central can pass the ball or of how many 100 yard gainers they have. The best I remember the total number of yards gained by Ashlands runners combined in the first game didn't total up to 100 yards.

Your not even mentioning Blake Johnson. Nobody ,particularly Ashland, has had an answer for him.

I had a Lexington Catholic coach tell me that they couldn't play with Johnson Central this year, and I'll leave that at that.

If you are talking about the one that was held a month or so ago, I agree. I'm not aware of any they have had since then though.

Well usually what I think has been proven to not mean very much.Just ask Coach Hall....lol I will say that I am very much looking forward to this season. Like a couple have mentioned, I think that while Fyffe and Blanton on most nights are capable of beating anyone, I do want to throw out Mike Conley as a very good third option. As an over all staff from top to bottom, I think they might have the regions best rotation, but there are a couple of other schools that have some really good starters as well. Carter from Pikeville, Little from Allen Central, Dotson from Belfry, Grimm from Paintsville , and Roberts from Lawrence Co. are all very good and can beat you as well. Sheherd at Lawrence will also be one of the regions very best as an 8th grader. I also feel that the winner of the region will come out of the 57th this year. I know that Lawrence Co has traveled and played as a unit all summer and fall together. I really look for and expect Lawrence to be very strong this year. Coach Keeton, Feltner, and Michaels just do a great job up there every year . Paintsville will be Paintsville again. I think they are absolutely loaded with talent, and are very, very, very well coached. I just cant emphasize the coaching part enough. Mike Hall at Sheldon Clark may surprise us all however again this season after being hit hard by graduation. He comes up with a great team every year, even when you think he has nothing coming back. He has done absolute wonders for Sheldon Clark's program. Even Magoffin County could play a spoiler role in the district tournament. I thought they looked pretty good against Paintsville last year in the tournament. I think that a big key for Central being sucessful this year is how well they can effectively fill the shoes of JD Plummer and Shane Sturgill. I think they lost the best defensive centerfieder and one of the best catchers in the region last year. That is of the most concern to me personally. We also have a couple of newcomers that I have yet to see much of but it is of my understanding may help out tremendously. Nathaniel Dials and Nick Vance are both being mentioned to me as pretty good players. I think that Coty Conley will see a lot more action this season after not playing for a couple of years and a lot of the young guys on last years squad will be much improved from last year. JK Ratliff came a long way as well last season, and could really be a big part of this team's success. As young players I thought that Stacy and Richardson greatly exceeded what most of us expected from them last year and I feel will be even better this year. I am also very much looking forward to seeing how Cody Parker has developed. He may very well be the next big thing on down the road for JC if he can stay focused. Hopefully Tommy Taylor will give baseball a shot this spring, he played summer ball this past year for the first time. We could sure use his speed on the base paths. You listening Tommy? I think that it will be a real dogfight in our district, and the fine line of things this year is that 3 teams in the 57th have the chance of doing one of two things. I think they can either get beat in the first round of the district or they can realisticly and legitimately make their way to Applebee's Park, and with a favorable state tournament draw, could wind up playing on saturday. Personally, I am just as excited about our team this year as I was going into the season after our final 4 run two years ago. Hopefully we wont be hit by injuries like we were that year. Talent and coaching can take you a long long way but it also takes a lot of breaks and a little luck. Hopefully, the moon and stars will all be in alignment for us this year.

I dont think that I said anything about a series or a season conference schedule at all. OK then it's silly......... Fact is Dombroski was UK 's ace last year and Cumberland wore him and a couple other UK studs out taking a 10-4 lead into the bottom of the 9th before they fell apart. They also did beat Morehead the year before, using a third baseman that had never pitched before against one of Morehead's weekend starters. Now guess what, neither team will schedule Cumberlands. The good NAIA staffs are usually full of what some of you guys are calling D1 caliber talent, D1 transfers and D1 recruited pitchers. Cumberlands last year for instance has Adam Walker from Clemson, Jon Silverman from Ohio State, and Adam Blanton that was recruited and offered by UK. So there are three D1's that come off the top of my head. Just this year alone they have 7 pitchers on staff, hitting 90+ and picked up freshman Brandon Williams that is a lot better pitcher than some that I have seen that have signed D1 scholarships. I kind of doubt that there are a few local D1's than can boast that. Yeah , please tell the St Louis Cardinals they cant compete in a series against all that awesome Tiger pitching also.... LOL Listen, I am not saying anything remotely that a lot of the smaller area schools are SEC caliber. That would be silly and stupid for me to even insinuate that, but you can bet that some of them could day in and day out wear some of the OVC schools out, and the farther you get into the deep south the better they are. D1 covers a wide spectrum. You have your Florida, LSU's, Clemsons, etc on one end, and then you have some the local OVC schools and some of the northern D1 schools that cover the other end of the spectrum. Come on whitey, we are all proud of Witten getting the chance to go to Coastal Carolina it's a great school and a great program , but please dont now become this D1 elitest snob, because I saw a lot of NAIA, DII, and a couple of DIII pitchers at Marietta College that threw just as hard(some a little harder) and had much better command, and ball movement and I will point out composure. There is no point in this subject becoming an arguement because I think a couple of you guys are taking me all wrong on what I am trying to say here. The whole point of me even saying anything was that just because a kid chooses to go to a school that is not D1 does not always mean that it is not a good school and has quality baseball. Some of you guys are trying to make some of these players and schools seem inferior however. I just dont totally agree with that part. . I will still say that I feel that last year Union College had the second best team in the state of Kentucky and that Cumberland Tennessee had one of the best collections of talent that I saw all year regardless of the division they competed in. I do think and agree that depth at D1 is probably much, much better in most cases though. Now you all can get back to discussing pitchers in the 13th region and I will respectfully bow out of this thread's misdirection.
