  1. Scoring for Douglass: Meek 1 goal Williams 2 goals Adkins 1 goal
  2. Final from Henry Clay. With Henry Clay losing for the first time in the 42nd district that makes for an interesting district standing with Henry Clay 3-1, Scott County 2-1 and Douglass 2-1 so far on the season.
  3. You are completely correct, not only did the RPI indicate it would be a close game but it favored a South Laurel win. Like I said, I am a statistics guy but the larger the pool of teams the less accurate an RPI will be. I will admit that the deeper into a season you get the more confidence you can put into what it's trying to measure.
  4. This game was decided early. Final score: Douglass 6 South Laurel 1
  5. 7th score of the game goes to South Laurel and was by Gill at 32:40 remaining in the game. Score: Douglass 6 South Laurel 1.
  6. Douglass' 6th goal of the game was H. Flynn assist Williams at 39:06 remaining in the game.
  7. At the half the score is Douglass 5 and South Laurel 0. Scoring was Nash at 37:05, Merry weather at 34:47, Rowe at 21:37 at which time Douglass did wholesale substitutions. The subs played with South until the rested starters were put back in at 5:00 minutes remaining in the first half. Douglass' 4th score came at the 1:41 mark in the first half with a second goal by Merryweather assisted by Williams. The 5th and final score of the first half was by Williams at the 59 second mark.
  8. Corbin wins 43-0 with a running clock most of the 2nd half.
  9. I meant to get this in when I started the topic: I'm all but certain that the South Laurel Cardinals will be in for a real awaking when they travel to Lexington tomorrow to play the Frederick Douglass Broncos. My point is to highlight how inaccurate the RPI rankings can be while also saying that I'm a guy who puts a lot of confidence in statistics when properly applied. The RPI has South Laurel as the favorite to win with an RPI of 0.59894 and Douglass an RPI of 0.57704. South Laurel has scored 28 goals and given up 19 goals while going 6-2-0 on the season, 2-0-0 in the 13th region and 2-0-0 in their district. Douglass has scored 33 goals and allowed 13 with a 7-4-0 season record, 2-2-0 11th region record and 1-1-0 district record. Of the 13 goal that Douglass has allowed, 4 were given up against Lafayette at Lafayette last week and 2 were given up against Bethlehem in Bardstown. Other important points is that both games were played after the injury bug bit the Broncos at the Smoky Mountain Cup in Gatlinburg which has left them without the services of 2 starters, one who was very important to their defense and one a good offensive player. I do not know how long they may be out. Younger players are stepping up and the team is adjusting. Douglass' first game back from Gatlinburg was Layfayatte while their second game this past Wednesday was against Bethleham where they kept a very good Bethleham offense in check for 79 minutes allowing 2 goals in a span of 60 seconds early in the second half which were scored by Carlie Thurmond. The Broncos shut down Bethleham and a very good Carlie Thurmond for the remainder of the game. Like I said they are adjusting and I'll simply say after applying statistics a little differently that Douglass should win easily.
  10. The RPI indicates this will be a close game. What are your thoughts or predictions?
  11. Well I'd say Douglass stepped up too when they are going to Corbin to the opening of newly renovated Redhound stadium. It will be packed with the Corbin faithful and I'm sure a very vocal audience. It should indeed be a test for the Broncos.
  12. Should be a good test for Douglass when they play Corbin next Friday. That may be a good barometer on Douglass' ability to hand Boyle County a loss.
  13. Corbin has never been a program to run up the score. If there is a running clock it will be with the Redhound freshmen on the field. Redhounds win easily.
  14. Replace "commanding win" with "very nice" and I'll agree completely with you. I'd just like to point out that with 12:31 remaining in the game the score was 2-1 Lafayette leading Douglass.
  15. Final score was Lafayette 4 Douglass 1. Per KHSAA website.
  16. Exactly the kind of game Corbin needed after six straight previous shutouts. Great job Redhounds.
  17. Final in the 42nd District Championship from Great Crossing. Henry Clay defeats Douglass by a score of 2-1. Scoring for Douglass: Maddie Merryweather assist Haley Flynn.
  18. Final from Great Crossing. Douglass wins the first 42nd district semi-final game against Sayre by a score of 3-1. Sayre earned tonight's game against Douglass by defeating Bryan Station 10-2 last night. Douglass will now play in the championship game on Thursday night at 6pm against the winner of tomorrow night's other semi-final game between Henry Clay and Scott County. Scoring for Douglass: Maddie Merryweather assist Ella Flynn. Sydney Cox unassisted. Maddie Merryweather assist Haley Flynn.
  19. I have a correction. The 3rd goal was indeed scored by Ellie Majors but the assist should have gone to 7th grader Laila Hudspeth.
  20. At home Douglass wins 5-0 against East Carter. This was the Broncos final regular season game. Scoring for Douglass: Maddie Merryweather off corner kick by Ella Flynn. Jojo Williams assist Olivia Johnson. Maddie Merryweather assist Emma O'Ferral. Sydney Cox assist Maddie Merryweather. Gabby Barnes assist Ella Flynn. Congratulations to the Broncos on ending the regular season with an 11 game win streak. The shutout was also their 9th of the season. I wish the Broncos all the best in the 42 district tournament.
  21. Interesting stats from the game for the Broncos. Scoring: 2 by seventh grade, 4 by eight grade and 3 by ninth grade. Assists: 3 by eight grade and 3 by ninth grade. I've not seen a game this season that the coach hasn't substituted very deep into the lineup. I can't say that every player has played every game but I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. Again congratulations on a great season and I look forward to watching you next year.
  22. Final from Douglass the JV Broncos win their final game of the season by a score of 9-0. Scoring by Douglass: Hadley Luring assist Veda Johnson. Claire Elliott off PK. Ellie Majors assist Tess Walker. Laila Hudspeth assist Piper Lehmann. Tess Walker assist Riley Kate Porter. Riley Kate Porter unassisted. Kennedy Turner assist Ashley Bylund. Riley Kate Porter assist Piper Lehmann. Ali Prader unassisted off a corner kick by Lindley Purdy. Congratulations to the Broncos JV girls soccer for a great season. Finishing 11-3-3. I see a good future for these girls.
