  1. C'mon now Ram...what kind of chump do you take me for? All that statement needed was a "triple dog dare ya" suffix. Speaking of triples...the only thing I can "admit" is 16-19...20-23...and 16-21. Hard to even type that stuff...
  2. I cannot imagine football becoming extinct at BC. If the numbers are as anemic as being reported here, one can hope that “quality over quantity” will prevail.
  3. LOL....OK....that last one did it. It’s been a very, very long off season, and I’m playing serious catch up on this thread. How do you Raceland guys keep a straight face while typing all this nonsense about Ashland being such a strong favorite against the Rams (and region)this year? After taking on the chin three consecutive years, the Tomcats have a long way to go before stacking up evenly against Raceland. As much as I look forward to seeing our orange clad brethren in a few weeks, we have to take on a group of Muskies which seem to have developed a real head of steam lately. I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR! p.s….I promise, the lines will be straight and accurate:D
  4. This is tragic news indeed....my prayers are with the father and his family...
  5. Thanks Birdsfan...I didnt think it would take long to get pointed in the right direction. I will enjoy reading the links. As for tooting your own horn, I think the only rival to that enjoyment is probably those frequent blasts from the cannon. BTW...best of luck on number 18.
  6. I have lightly searched for some information regarding Highlands football and if their football team has ever been nationally ranked. Winning 17 football titles in Kentucky is quite a noteworthy accomplishment and it appears number 18 is imminent. I have lived in Florida, Texas and Georgia where football is king and became accustomed to hearing about certain local teams hitting the national radar screen. I know we currently have a 6A representative being recognized outside our state’s borders but when was the last time Highlands had such recognition? From what I have learned over the past few weeks is that Highlands has about as many historians as they do quality football players. Thanks in advance for any information on this.
  7. This is a very appropriate thread and one which exemplifies exactly how this special season will be remembered for generations to come. As these various accolades are recognized, the numbing sting of last Friday night will succumb to just how exceptional Ram Football was in 2008. Ram, and all the other Raceland faithful are much better equipped at identifying specifics than this Ashland fan, but, regardless of what team you call your own…I admire the focus and dedication which Raceland has displayed all season long. Best of luck to these seniors as they continue their lives…whether it includes football, text books, or skilled trades…I hope you take the value of what this sport has taught you in your next endeavor. As for the underclassmen, you have been shown the way and how to do it…preparation for next August starts TODAY.
  8. Best of luck tonight to Johnson Central. At least for this evening, I hope its better to be an Eagle instead of a Bluebird.
  9. LOL...funny...my first pass was at 32, but thought, 'nah...it's gotta be more believable than that'...
  10. I don’t know, but there seems to be only about 47 last names used by Highlands players. It’s special to read about generation upon generation of Bluebirds vying for another state title. Phenomenal.
  11. Good luck to young Mr. Guidugli! Just being in the mix is an honor.
  12. Well done Rams! What an honor it is to have earned the right to practice football on Thanksgiving Day! Do you know how few teams there are left between you and a State Championship? Doesn’t matter, in fact, I hope you don’t know….the only team that matters anyway is LCA. As Old rambler wrote: You guys that were around/on the field in last year’s game…remember well how that felt and what you wouldn’t have given for just one more play. I hope LCA doesn’t sneak up and take one when you aren’t trying your best…I cant imagine this happening but I hope to see the Rams take it to them from the very first play, hammer hard and don’t look back.
  13. Yes I do love this time of year! Rough night for my Tomcats, but Im delighted to see some regional teams still in the mix. Congratulations to the Rams on round two of the playoffs. No disrespect to the first two opponents, but from here on out, the competition is going to be at a whole new level. Now is the time to turn it up a notch Rams…LCA and Beechwood are right there along side of you and eyeballing the same prize.
  14. Congratulations to Highlands on the win. As I posted in the prediction thread, to be the best, you have to beat the best. Playing against Ft Thomas shows the level of the bar. Prayers are with Carter and the Highlands player…I hope a speedy and complete recovery is in order for both young men. Congrats to the Tomcats as well…way to turn things around in a positive way in 2008. I’m really proud of how our seniors pulled together this year…thanks for some very memorable moments and setting an example for the underclassmen
  15. I wanted to extend my weekly well wishes to all the Rams and Raceland community. As others have pointed out, it’s not the easiest thing in the world to beat a good team twice in a single season…Fairview is a good team. Even still, these Rams have proven they are not the sort to suffer the trappings of overconfidence. The storybook season continues…keep writing those chapters fellas.
  16. It appears you are as adept at asking questions as you are at answering them in the same breath. I’ll sniff the bait, however, I’m not taking the hook on your convoluted “logic”. We certainly agree on one thing…it’s “all in good fun”.:thumb:
  17. And you know this how?:sssh: I don’t believe I have ever seen a close football game where luck didn’t play some role. Do you think this game plan will be different from the previous meeting for either team? True! And, good point…but we’re talking about the playoffs now…right?
  18. I have a silly question, but curious nonetheless: ‘What is the most viewed thread in BGP history?’ And, if this isn’t an inappropriate question for this thread, mods please delete or transfer.
  19. The winner of this game, Skunk gets Johnson Central.....c'mon man...pay attention.
  20. LOL...you guys are cracking me up. Hey...best of luck in this game. May the best team win.
  21. sand·bag (sndbg) n. A bag filled with sand and used as ballast, in the formation of protective walls, or as a weapon. v. sand·bagged, sand·bag·ging, sand·bags v.tr. 1. Slang To downplay or misrepresent one's ability in order to deceive someone, especially in gambling. Well.....we were warned about some of this flying around toward week's end. Right on cue Leatherneck...but I aint buyin' it!
  22. My use of the word luck was not a negative connotation…I was taught long ago that “luck” occurs when preparation meets opportunity. Highlands won that game and it was not necessarily due to some oblique twist of fate. As you mentioned, practicing a 2 minute drill (preparation) put the Birds in a position to come from behind (opportunity) to win the game fair and square.
  23. If you have followed Highlands through these BGP threads, you probably do find it amazing. In fact, at the time of this posting, the Ashland count was up to 47. In the category of “worthless information” the only group of “believers” close to that number was during the Highlands / Central thread when 37 diehards picked against the Bluebirds. Next in line was Cov Cath at 30…Lex Cath at 21 and so on… Hey Highlands….how about spotting us a few points for having the most folks willing to vote in a prediction poll against you.
