  16. Perhaps a little of both 16th. One thing which I believe most agree upon though is Belfry is historically will be more inclined to lose a game early in the season rather than later. Since the 2000 season, Belfry cumulatively looses 20% of its game per season. The first 3 games of a season during that same time span, the Pirates fall 26%. All teams though, typically will play better in game two than they do in the opening game. The last team to hand Belfry a loss in the first three games of a season was none other than Ashland, back in 2006. Overall composite record between these two programs has Ashland out in front 15 – 2. Belfry though has notched a championship or two since the Tomcats have claimed the top honor.
  17. Positives for Ashland: You finally won against an opponent which had outscored you for three straight seasons. Special teams, for the second consecutive week, played a big role in the win. Line play continued to get better. Conditioning seemed to favor the Tomcats. Alber & company squashed all concerns of a reduced roster Ashland actually kicked an extra point (it was a bank shot, but still counted) Most of all - this group of Tomcats really does play as a TEAM Positives for Raceland: The Rams, as expected, did not quit. This loss is not a setback. No district implications and should serve as a learning experience. Two starters still out of the lineup…they will return. You guys are still Raceland Rams and all that goes along with it. Ashland came out early and set the tone of this game and really didn’t look back. What impresses me most about this group is the team concept. One would be challenged to label any single player as a “star”, but collectively, they all get the job done. It appeared to me that the overall strength and conditioning favored the Tomcats…this indicates a strong work ethic during the off season…dedication and commitment goes hand in hand with this too. Congratulations Cats on a well deserved and long awaited win. Enjoy the weekend, and as Mr. Alber said on the post game show “We’re now going to get ready for Belfry”.
  18. Getting ready to head over to Putnam. The sun just broke through so maybe we will get through this game without any rain. Sorry to hear about the Carter situation, but as Graybeard has said, Ashland is deep at this position. The Tomcats will be fine. Raceland is without one of their backs too. Last post until after the game....I look for both teams give 100% effort and may the best one win.
  19. Is this what a 1 - 1 Raceland record will look like?
  20. Good questions Red. The field should not be muddy, but it will be wet. This will impact the speed of both teams so, IMO, it’s a wash. I think your question about the passing and ball slickness has more relevance than the speed issue. Mainly because I believe it will take a balanced attack for Raceland to make it FOUR IN A ROW against the Tomcats. The Rams still have solid backs even though they lost Denton and Carver…we will see evidence of that tonight I’m sure. Speaking of passing…will Rister play qb tonight? Anyone willing to tip a hand?
  21. SShhh doc:sssh:...c'mon...Im trying to set him up for a steak dinner.
