  1. I think this game will be closer than what people are predicting, South Laurel can move the ball well, especially through the air. Corbin basically plays 2 CB's, one who is a freshman and 1 safety, who is a soph. and will cover the other receivers with LB's, with everyone covering man to man, so South Laurel will make some big plays. If Corbin can break even in the turnover battle, they should win. Corbin 35 - 28
  2. The O-line played pretty well for the most part as Corbin rushed for around 200 yards, although they are far from being as good as someone must have stated. Danville was solid defensively, well prepared for what Corbin was trying to do and made the Hounds earn everything they got. The DB's let WR's loose behind them a couple of times, but the Hounds missed the TD connection both times.
  3. All I'm saying is we just don't know about Danville still, Corbin just did not make them sustain any drives, maybe they are capable, could not tell from last night's game. I could be wrong, but a team better than Corbin will force the Ads to the air and from what I saw, they need to improve in that area. Danville obviously outplayed the Hounds
  4. You can't turn the ball over that much and expect to win, no doubt about that. After the first Corbin fumble inside the 5 yd line, I thought that Corbin as a team, hung their heads and played without any fire for the rest of the half. I can't recall a worse performance by a redhound team than the first half last night. Danville has a long way to go offensively, they are going to have to get some balance to be a title contender this year.
  5. Some stats from this game(some of them rather strange): Danville had 7 first downs to Corbin's 15. Danville had 200 total net yards with 120 of these coming on 2 plays. Danville punted 8 times and Corbin twice. Danville's avg yardage per pass completion was 47 yards and Corbin's was 6.8. Ray had 110 yds rushing for Danville and Foley had 123 for Corbin. Cobb, Corbin's QB, lost 45 yards on sacks. Corbin's punter lost 18 yards on the fake punt or whatever it was that happened on that play:confused:
  6. Corbin self destructed in this game, and the Ads took advantage. It all started on Danville's first possession,Corbin stops Danville at about their own 35 and force a punt, which Corbin allows to bounce and roll down inside the 5, where they then decide to field it, only to fumble and set the Ads up inside the 5. The next time Danville has the ball, it is 3rd and long and the Corbin secondary misses an assignment and allows a receiver to run free 30 yards behind them for a TD pass. Corbin drives down the field and pulls within a TD. After this Danville starts their next 2 drives at the Corbin 30 and again inside the Corbin 5. Later in the game Corbin sets them up at the 16 for a scoring drive and at the Corbin 11after yet another Corbin turnover for a TD. You can't beat anyone playing like this, and surely not a Danville. Does anyone know how many 1st downs Danville had tonight? I would guess 3 or 4 total.
  7. Corbin is small and young with only 5 or 6 seniors seeing any playing time. They start a freshman at mlb and another at RB, with another frosh getting plenty of time at CB. There are a couple of other kids who were at Corbin last year that are starting for other area teams as freshman as well. Corbin has to make Danville sustain drives to get their points and avoid the turnover bug that has plaqued them early this year to have a shot at knocking off the Ads.
  8. Mickey's dad, was the basketball coach at nearby Conway(SC) High School for many years. Myrtle Beach won the state championship last year in their class and their QB signed with Notre Dame.
  9. Does Danville have more team speed than GRC and Tates Creek? What kind of passing games do the Ads have?
  10. Congratulations to Vinnie Hoover, the starting tailback for Myrtle Beach who transferred from Corbin last year, on ending Byrnes 71 game home winning streak. Byrnes went into the game ranked #25 in the USA Today's National Top 25.
  11. Corbin played better tonight, fewer penalties and less missed defensive assignments allow them to hold on for the win. A lot of freshman and sophomores starting and several others getting playing time should bode well down the road, but the upperclassmen, such as Foley, Grigsby, Howington, Jewell,Grubb and several others led the way tonight.
  12. He has started at safety the past two years and also was slated to be the starting slotback this year. He is #2.
  13. The Redhound Varsity Club, which runs the bowl game, thought that Whitley Co. was going to play Corbin in it, but they wanted Corbin to agree to play them at Whitley. The person in charge thought that it could be worked out, but Coach Jewell would not commit to play the Colonels at their place, so Whitley would not sign to play in the bowl. It was strung out so long that it was too late to sign someone else. It is suppose to be back on for next year.
  14. Frederick is out for the season, tough blow for him and for Corbin. His experience and athleticism cannot be replaced, I really believe that Corbin would have won at least one of their games if he could have played. Some freshman and sophomores have been getting a baptism under fire on the defensive side, although it will make them better players in the long run.
  15. Corbin has better come out like a wounded tiger Friday, next week may be a better opponent when they square off against Danville.
  16. If the Corbin defense can force Tates Creek into sustaining drives to score their points, I look for the Hounds to prevail 21-13. Is Frederick officially out for the season for Corbin?
  17. They are keeping OSU in it. Sullinger is very protected, shocked by some of the calls he gets.
  18. If Marshall County is a pressing, trapping kind of team, then Bell County may struggle. If it is a grind it out, half court game, Bell County has a shot.
  19. Can someone explain UL being seeded lower than Syracuse and UConn? I realize that UConn beat UL in the tourney finals, but that did not matter in other cases.
  20. UK got the seed they deserved. No way Florida is one of the top 8 teams in the country, as their #2 seed implies.
  21. If that's the case, they should not be in the bracket with OSU. UNC should be in the bracket with Pittsburgh and Notre Dame in with Duke.
  22. How about UAB, Clemson and VCU??????
  23. Should be at the least a 3 seed. I thought Uk might get a 3, but the Cards got hosed a little if you ask me.
  24. A little too soon for this declaration in my opinion, seeing that there is a lot of basketball to be played this weekend. Duke will be in the mix to get a #1 seed, and probably should be if they win the ACC tourney.
