  1. Right, but generally there are age restrictions involved in most retirement plans. The double dipping was my first thought, and why I asked his age. We are on the same page. Does anyone know his approximate age, and also how many years has he served as sheriff?
  2. Friday's games look much more competitive than Saturday's
  3. Will you be in Bowling Green for the championships this weekend? If so, for which game(s) will you be in attendance? Friday December 5 11:00am 3A Belfry / Central 2:30pm 2A Newport Central Catholic / DeSales 6:00pm 5A Graves County / Pulaski County Saturday December 6 11:00am 1A Williamsburg / Mayfield 2:30pm 4A Owensboro / Highlands 6:00pm 6A Trinity / Dixie Heights
  4. Agreed. This seems like a good ending point.
  5. Congrats to Pirate1960, Mr Consistency in our contests. :thumb: I took a shot with Beechwood, thought they had a chance and it would have put me in the lead. Once again, I chose poorly, lol.
  6. No question. You just cannot give them more possessions than you get, period. They will capitalize. On a night when the offense wasn't really moving the ball (6 first downs) Central won with defense and special teams. One of their scores was a recovered fumble on the 1 yd line that they carried into the end zone. They find a way to win. I respect Central's football program as much as anyone in KY
  7. The Independent consistently puts out one of the best newspapers in KY, especially their sports department. :thumb:
  8. Central rallies over South Warren, into Class 3-A title game | USA Today High School Sports | USA Today High School Sports This is a good article, complete with a highlight video. Here are some excerpts: Its offense stifled for much of the night, the Central High School football team leaned on its defense and special teams to earn a trip back to the state final. The Yellowjackets forced four turnovers, allowed zero points after the first two drives and got a big night from sophomore punter Michael Branch to beat visiting South Warren 16-14 on Friday in a Class 3-A state semifinal. ... “There were times I said, ‘I don’t know if we can get it done,’” Scroggins said of returning to the final. “It’s been a tough year, and these kids just believed in the system and wanted to get back there. … Nobody expected us to be here because of our youth.” ... After Litten’s two touchdown runs, Central got back in the game thanks to its punter and defense. Branch’s 38-yard-punt pinned the Spartans at their 1-yard line, and two plays later Central’s Nekia Johnson forced Austin McElwain to fumble. Central’s William Harper pounced on the loose ball and carried it 2 yards for a touchdown to pull the Yellowjackets within 14-10 with 2:05 left in the first quarter. ... The Yellowjackets finished with just six first downs — including one in the second half — and 176 total yards. Beason carried 15 times for 78 yards. Quarterback Myron Norfleet completed 10 of 22 passes for 60 yards.
  9. I'm not exactly sure why but that made me laugh out loud. :thumb:
  10. This matchup is turning into quite the rivalry. This should be a good one, seems like they always are between these two. Central won the last two in heart breaking fashion (if you are a Belfry fan) and they were two of the closes, and best games in recent finals history. These two coaches, two programs know each other very well and I'm sure they are coming into the game knowing what to expect. I'm really excited for another shot at Central.
  11. I know So Warren was primarily a running team. What type of offense do they run? Do they run between the tackles or more outside or what? And on Central's passing game, was it a lot of short stuff that just moves the chains or do they have a deep threat? What were they successful at?
  12. Instead of taking it's toll, playing tougher competition likely will make them better prepared for a playoff run. Iron sharpens iron.
  13. No, there is not a point where it is OK to put a player's safety at risk to avenge a scoreboard issue.
  14. Does anyone from Williamsburg have information on the kicker? Is he OK?
  15. Really cheap, and he got an earful for it. Should have been ejected, IMO.
  16. 2012 Cooper I would have put 3rd in their class maybe behind Bowling Green and John Hardin. They might have been top 10 overall, but not 3rd out of all classes.
  17. Thank you for your honesty in admitting Belfry's program has been more successful than Johnson Central's program has been. That is the question posed in this thread.
  18. This is pointless. Johnson Central has been a better team than Belfry recently almost every year. If that is the criteria, then I have no problem crowning them Kings of the East. No problem whatsoever. I love what Matney has done at JC and they are the best team in the east, consistently. Of course, that is just terminology, and isn't the point of this thread (which has gone completely off course).
