  1. In youth football, they played by weight class. My boys were always playing against older kids, anyway, because of their size. Holding back is about more than just athletics. As a 5 year old, I hated school and cried every day not to go. I was too young. My sons liked school and enjoyed going. That's part of it, too. The holding back is not about "dominating" it is about competing and succeeding. We all want our kids to succeed.
  2. I held all three of mine back when starting school. You're right, boys mature later and my boys thank me for letting them be the oldest and not the youngest in the class. My birthday is in October. I was a freshman in college before I turned 18. That was normal back then but I wish I had been held back, too.
  3. His uncles were great players at a Lincoln County.
  4. I was in Key West this week and saw a guy wearing a Belfry football shirt ridding a Moped down Duval Street with his woman on the back. I didn't take a picture because "what happens in Key West stays in Key West!" Belfry representin'......
  5. I know zero facts. I'm merely pointing out that it wouldn't be a "recruiting " violation for a student to visit schools. I should have made it clear that it "could be" the opposite side of the same coin......transferring for athletic purposes.
  6. It's the other side of the same coin. It's transferring for athletic reasons. Personally, I think a student and his family should be able to choose any school that will accept said student but that's not the way the rules read.
  7. I was told that Lincoln County's Bryson Yaden was laser-timed at 4.8. Good job for a rising sophomore. He's a playmaker for the Patriots and has a high football IQ. Looking forward to the next three years. Donald Smith was a great football player and is a great guy. His boy sounds like a chip off the old block.
  8. Without consolidation in Lincoln County, Jeremy Simpson, Mr. Football 1993, most likely attends Crab Orchard High and never plays football.
  9. At Lincoln County High School in Stanford. It's about an hour and a half to Montgomery County.
  10. PBK Bank/WPBK-FM Death Valley Bowl Game One Lincoln County vs Madison SoutherN Game Two Henry County bs Bullitt Central
  11. Just read it. Made me like him and Belfry even more.
  12. Maybe the Death Valley Bowl in Lincoln County in 2017?
  13. Full disclosure, he's a friend of mine. Wonder what kind of impression you made on him that day? We won't know because of the anonymity provided by usernames. Sounds line axe-grinding to me, for some reason or other. I'll take it for what it's worth.
  14. That's what they do in Illinois. The winners keep winning, even as they move up.
  15. How could anyone argue this? It is very telling that most fans don't understand the rules. I watched my son muff a kickoff and then down it in he endzone in an NCAA game. He was praised by his coaches for knowing the rules. I started sitting off by myself at high school games when I heard parents talking about the two minute warning in a high school game. It is maddening.
  16. One of the first ballgames that Steve called was a basketball game with my dad in about 1969 or '70 when Steve was in school at Stanford High. A fight broke out during the game and Steve went from play-by-play to blow-by-blow. Afterwards, my dad told him that it would be better not to describe who was hitting who. I've known him, his brother and his parents my whole life. Great people.
  17. I've now seen the following football teams: Lincoln County Henry County Bullitt Central Madison Southern Nelson County Marion County Bardstown Spencer County Bethlehem Thomas Nelson Casey County Green County Campbellsville Washington County Garrard County Knox Central Southwestern Corbin Clay County Harlan County Boyle County Pulaski County Taylor County Russellville
  18. Half Russellville 15 Bethlehem 7 Russellville has touchdown passes of 40 and 55 yards. They've made Bethlehem pay for stacking the box. I'm here, too, Shue. I've got the call on WOKH due to last minute announcer cancellation.
  19. The schedule says kickoff at 7:30, that's 8:30 in Bardstown, right?
