  1. That's the difference between a great coach's ability to make a clean break, not to burn bridges... and not to mire the school in print media. I wish him and the entire football staff well in future endeavors...
  2. I was a nay sayer for a long time on the 6A class system. I based my opinion on what I was exposed to in Norther Kentucky... as I understand now from many sources across the state, football popularity is on the rise. In some cases, rivaling basketball in the high schools and middle schools. If this momentum continues, the level of play for many schools will continue to improve and perhaps comepetition will return throughout all seeds during tournament play. It may take awhile. We football advocates just need to be patient.
  3. Sincere thoughts and prayers are with this young man and family during this difficult time. This sad event brings to my mind the unfortunate loss last year at this time of the three footballers from the western part of Kentucky who drowned while duck hunting... So sad.
  4. I agree on all points. :thumb: You can't overlook the senior leadership factor... and as stated, the timing fine tunred during Spring and Summer football practice. I don't know anyone who can match Will's speed on the field or on the track. Best of luck to Will on Friday as he will have his elbow repaired... you will be in our prayers! I am looking forward to Patrick leading the 'birds to #20. He definately has the maturity, skill set and attitude to become another great QB that played on the Fort Thomas Junior Football League's RED Team...
  5. That's why I commented about not being a surprise to coach Nichols... I think he had a good inclination about his term. Any idea on the rest of the staff? Will they be staying or is it an entire house sweep? I hope all turns out OK for Manual... especially the educationally gifted athletes and the dedicated coaching staff.
  6. Apparently the coaching staff knew this was coming ... very little suprise by one of the coach's spouse I talked to. Looks like they will be going with a "NAME" coach that all will be very familiar with. I do not know who the "NAME" cach is. But apparently that is the direction the principal wants for his school. :thumb: The loss to Male may have been the straw that broke the camel's back.
  7. Job well done 'birds. Clean game by both squads... no errors by the 'birds. Just executing the game plan and finishing the tasks at hand. That is what you have done all year! Congrats to the entire team... especially to the seniors who led the 'birds to number 19. Speaking of 19, Brandon Roller, looking forward to you playing at the next level. You were a true role model for your peers!
  8. Very nice stadium and facilities. Long drive from BG to Ft Thomas... bus returned around 4:00am. Next time I am getting rooms. The only complaint... the 5A game was delayed due to the double overtime game earlier in the day. That pushed back the 5A game. They would not allow us to enter the facility until it was cleared by the prior game FC and DeSales. AS a result long lines developed around the stadium. Due to the cold, etc. - I think they should have allowed the HHS and JHHS fans in to the stadium... they would have had a lot of concession purchase as we waited for the game to end.
  9. Great post.. So sorry about your loss and the significant loss to the LC community.
  10. Agreed! I have many fond memories of AC playing ball for HHS. Many are his uncanny ability to return kick-offs against Covington Catholic! I will never forget his incredible interception in the '07 championship game against Bowling Green. AC was a sophomore. He helped change the momentum of the game with that interception... leaped high into the air against a D-1 WR, D.L. Moore, and pulled the ball down. A great three year letterman for the 'birds!
  11. I recognize a few faces.... can you provide names? Great pic! PJ Sauer, Matt Huddleson, Tobby Hlad, John Pogue... I will stop there.
  12. A little common courtesy goes a long way! Enjoy the games... but give up the seat for the team's that are playing....
  13. We did the same thing for our finals... that is why I was surprised about the necessity to purchase for each individual game. Thanks!
  14. I don't reall PPJS clearing before each game... is this new? If it is... don't think that is the avenue to attract fans to Kentucky State Football playoffs.
  15. Congratulations to all selected... all very deserving in my book. You represent Kentucky athletics at the very best. Well Done!
  16. OK. I understand your reply. However, I was fortunate to attend the game the year before when X and T played each other. Be honest, don't remember the weather... but I think it was a steady downpour. I think. I do know that the attendance was not brilliant that evening either... That was my first T and X championship game. I was expecting a nearly full stadium from all the talk on BGP. Didn't happen. As a Kentucky hgh school football fan... I would love to see a full stadium for the games... It's my opinion, the L'ville factor is being overstated. I guess we will all see this weekend. I sincerely hope to see a great game attended by thousands...:isurrender:
  17. Back in the days of old.. and leather helmets, the games were played on Thanksgiving Day at the University of Kentucky. Not sure why the format changed... I think the real issue for improving the playoff picture in Kentucky is not reducing the number of games played but increasing the quality of teams that make it to the playoffs.
  18. Then my friend, it's time to remove your cape! And I thought you were a super hero...:thumb:
  19. Don't you think the BG folks will drop off their children... or better yet, attend the games out of curiousity and/or proximity?
  20. Sorry, but I was not impressed with your attendance last year. The weather was not the best, but Heck, this is football... the 6A did not produce a windfall for the KHSAA. Let's be honest here...
  21. Newton was dead on in his passing in the 1st half... came out cold the second half and never recovered. I am still shaking my head on why they did not put in the boy from Henderson Kentucky, senior WILL FIDLER, to shake up the offense. It worked for the Auburn game... I will always stand by Coach Brooks as he has proven himself .... but Joker is not in my deck of cards. Let's get coach Kelley from UC before Notre Dame!
