  1. There was no coaching problem. the AD- principal-boosters were 100% behind Coach Mason. Some "high-rollers" that have the super "in-bed", heard from a guy (Dugan) that he could deliver Mike Holcomb. The high-rollers insisted that the super get Mason out! She did...Holcomb refused the job...now we have a mess! Districts that truely believe athletics are important to the well being of the school system will get the BEST coach and create a job!
  2. She'll reap what she's sown. Like I said the kids are the losers. 2 coaches are trying to hold the ship together but they are having VERY low indoor attendance(20-25). I personally heard an admin at the HS say "you don't understand the scope of the politics" that have influenced the entire ordeal. Job qualifications: Quality teacher, Great politician, okay coach.
  3. No end in sight. May be June! The admin will not hire a coach until they have a teaching position. The kids lose again at Nelson Co. What a joke! It is embarassing!
  4. I believe he has been an asst at Colrain in Ohio, HC at Lou. Southern (3-4yrs), and most recently an asst at St.X (2-3yrs). No clue about his O or D schemes?
  5. Job was offered to Mike Holcomb, but the money wasn't right and he refused to teach. The job was offered to Bart Breuner(sp) on Wednesday and he attended weight training on Thursday. I'd say he'll be in or out on Monday. Late in the week there were a ton of rumors floating around that the admin. was going to repost the position and take applications?
  6. Yes, their Defensive coordinator.
  7. What is the latest word on the job?
  8. Joe Jaggars, Brian Higdon, Brandon Combs, Wally English. The other five are a question mark. I've heard Bart Bruner and Wes Cissell, but I'm not as sure about those 2.
  9. It has been pretty tight lipped. 2 from within?
  10. I hear 19 applicants and 9 interviews starting Jan. 11th.
  11. Suppose to interview next week.
  12. I hear 3 coaches from the current staff applied (Bobblitt, Combs, Higdon), an English guy, an assistant fron St. X (Bruner?), a DC from Woodford Co, a GA from EKU and no Holcomb (I hear he doesn't apply for jobs?). If I'm correct only 2 have HC experience Bruner (Lou. Southern) and English (every place in the USA).
  13. I'm not sure about that, but he is a good coach looking to become a HC.
  14. The powers that be at BL should contact BL-MSU alumnus Brandon Combs. He is on the market...I think?
  15. The coaches of the all-star team pick the players based on film research. They watch a lot of film on the kids that coaches nominate and pick the team.
  16. Inside-Outside-DE....That's close...Right? Congrats to Matt for being recognized!
  17. What position does he play? Notice that The CJ team is a 6-2-3 team! The DEs are basically OLBs in a 4-4-3! Just a thought?
  18. Nelson County had more kids this year (10-12)than in 1996 (10-12)when they won the 4-A state championship and 10 more than 2004 when they went 7-5. The reasons were bogus and different from what the super says on TV. They include use of smokeless tobacco, drinking alcohol at the bourbon festival, harassing students that have quit the team, publicly saying that there may be a few kids not playing because of the drug test, improper language on the field, inconsistant team rules, refusal to turn off the alarm to the football field house so that students could enter unsupervised through out the day, and being a poor role model.
  19. I don't think he does, but if he did I don't think he would apply. The administration doesn't care about the program.
  20. Was he the head coach?
  21. I have heard the students had a "sit-in" at the high school today as a show of support for their former coach and to discuss several other issues (no administrative support) with the super at Nelson County (she never showed up). The TV stations from Louisville were there with live trucks and helicopters flying around. I heard that at one time the administration chained the dooors to keep'em in! Not good! It continues to sour at Nelson.
  22. If I'm not mistaken, Nelson County looks worse than that. I've heard coaches complain about an $8K budget for reconditioning-new equipment-footballs-etc, football gets 0% of it's gate (athletic account-which is where the $8K comes from), basketball gets the concessions and football program, athletics pays for the buses (that is $ out of the pocket of the team). Staff and players raise near 12K and boosters do 20K.
  23. Coach B...Nelson County won't "go after" anyone! IMO...they were doing it right! No (very few) discipline problems on the field or off, had been winning and over achieved in 02-o3, numbers have dipped-but they do a lot more work in the off-season-this was year 4 of drug tests, coaches didn't complain about low salaries. The people that want Coach Mason out (3-4 non-parents) want Mike Holcomb (sp) from Breathitt. If they do not get him the same will happen to the next guy. I do not think a coach from the staff will apply.
  24. Brandon Combs would make a great HC right now, but 3-4 people in the community have there "golden boy" and Coach Combs ain't him. There is a short list and nelson County doesn't pay enough. Tremble Co pays better!
