Did Somerset's "troubled" kids play last night in their district game?

Hard to call a UK signee beating Pulaski as an upset; brown threw a very good game. Best he's looked in a while...

They should get the kids rings just for winning that district...

Great game at Pulaski County. Brent Alexander pitched six scoreless before giving way to John Perkins to close things out. Pulaski scores 1 run while only collecting 1 hit off Maronde?, Fahs, and another lefty. Catholic could only muster 4 singles, but hit into 3 double plays. Great defensive game.

In that case, I feel bad for the kids involved, but I have more respect for the Somerset BOE for standing up for themselves.

That is a strange situation. Just by reading the local paper, it's kind of sad that the Somerset BOE won't stand behind its principal and teachers...I always thought the Somerset School System had more integrity than that.

Just looking at the cumulative records for 12th region teams. This has to be one of the most balanced regions in the state, with several good teams. Danville 21-4 Mercer 16-5 Pulaski 16-2 West Jessamine 16-6 Somerset 15-8 Boyle 15-8 Southwestern 12-5 Looks like this year's regional tournament should be one of the best, most competitive tourneys in the state.

This game must have been picked up pretty late; it wasn't on Pulaski's schedule. John Perkins hit two homeruns in the contest for Pulaski, who pushes its record to 16-2.

Mercer has played well and is a strong contender to win the 12th region. In fact, the 12th is looking like one of the stronger overall regions in the state this year, with six or seven teams all capable of winning it. Mercer, West Jessamine, Danville, Boyle, Somerset, Southwestern, and Pulaski all have a good shot to win the region if they can make it out of their own districts. Rockastle County, with UK signee Colby Brown, would also have to be considered. Should be a great region tourney...

It would be nice if they could win some district games...

I think that all Somerset, Rockastle, and Pulaski are worried about is winning one game in the district tournament to make the region tourny.

Brent Alexander goes the distance for the Maroons to win the Harrison County McDonald's Classic. On a side note, Pulaski was missing 3 or 4 starters that went to prom, and Beechwood's players were recovering from prom the previous night. Curley goes deep for Beechwood.

Jesse Carter goes the distance for Pulaski.

Is this the same Chris Adkins that helped coach baseball at both Somerset and Pulaski, off and on, over the years?

Pulaski's prom is on Saturday, too, but I hadn't heard anything about them possibly playing on Sunday.

So I don't guess there will be a championship, 3rd place game, etc., on Saturday? If Beechwood doesn't play their second game until Sunday, it wouldn't be possible.

Who dropped out? Also, it says that Beechwood will only play one game in the tournament (vs Harrison). Is that right?

Seems like there's been an unusually large number of rainouts this year in Central Kentucky. I've seen on the scoreboard where some teams have gone as much as 7 or 8 days without a game. How does this effect hitters? Pitchers? Any thoughts?

Only coaches vote, and not many at that. Pulaski getting a #1 vote was either a mistake by a coach or somebody out there was really, really impressed by them. I'm sure when the next poll comes out, they won't be in the top 25, nor do they deserve to be. I've talked to their coach about them being ranked, and he just laughed and said that some coach must have been crazy or drunk. Catchmeifyoucan, it seems you're a little bitter about Pulaski being ranked??? These polls should not be taken seriously. If you want Leslie County ranked, which they should be because I've seen them play, don't down other teams. Instead, get some of the coaches in the mountains to pay their membership fees to the coaches association and vote. I get tired of mountain teams complaining about the lack of respect that they garner around the state. It's a coach's poll. Those guys need to take some responsibility in getting the teams in their areas recognized around the state.
