Seems like there's been an unusually large number of rainouts this year in Central Kentucky. I've seen on the scoreboard where some teams have gone as much as 7 or 8 days without a game.

 

How does this effect hitters? Pitchers? Any thoughts?

Well it can be good and bad. At this time of the year, a break of about a week can serve as a rejuvination so to speak. Some players begin to get worn down mid-way through the season. Arms are starting to get soar, players are getting a little tired of the grind and daily bus trips. The break can even give hitters and pitchers time to work on a couple of things that they wouldn't want to try to work on during games. So these breaks can serve as a way to rebuild the spirits of the players.

 

It could also affect the team negatively. Some teams may be in a bit of a groove and just want to keep playing. This break can potentially slow them down.

 

So it depends on how you want to look at it I suppose.

Idk, I agree that rainouts are both good and bad. as a hitter I hate not getting as many opportunities to hit live pitching. A juggs machine only does so much, and in my opinion doesnt give you nearly as good of a look as a live pitcher would. Rainouts do offer players however a chance to take a few days easy and from what i've seen a lot aof coaches dont give very demanding practices on days where they were supposed to play. They typically work on some general things that will help them to improve in the season. Picthing however is, for me, most effected in rainouts. Going a week and a half or so between starts can really effect a players groove, not to mention throw in a change or two in the expected rotations. All in all I'd much rather play... rainouts stink!
