Somerset is fine..... They lost too a tough Campbellsville team, and played bad against a decent Adair County team. Then they recovered by beating 17-3 Pulaski for the second time this year, which gave them a 5-0 record in district and clinched the number one seed. They also beat Richmond Model in Richmond Saturday. One of the kids they lost wasnt even playing because an injury, and besides they both will be back for district tourny.

Did they change things? I heard they were lost for the year. So they did reverse the decision.

That is a strange situation. Just by reading the local paper, it's kind of sad that the Somerset BOE won't stand behind its principal and teachers...I always thought the Somerset School System had more integrity than that.

Both players are out for the year. The BOE only reduced the 10 day suspension to five with five in-school suspension days. They held up the rest of the punishments.

In that case, I feel bad for the kids involved, but I have more respect for the Somerset BOE for standing up for themselves.

According to Coach Grundy and Wilson Sears, they made an agreement that the kids would be allowed to play in the District Tourney and for however long the year lasts after the District.

Actually they will both be back...

They get to play but not go through grad ceremony. IMO priorities seem a little backwards in jumperland.

They may not get to Walk at graduation, but they will still get their Diplomas. So its not that big of a deal. For these two young men, they have a chance to have most if not all of their education payed for by playing baseball and the School Board wants them to be able to have that chance. It may be a dissapointment to the families that their child will not be able to Walk but they still Graduate non the less.

That part of it was not reported in the Commonwealth-Journal. I have personally not heard of this agreement. Doesn't mean it hasn't took place, though.

No matter what happens off the field, Somerset always has, and looks like always will, find a way to keep their athletes on the field. IMO they are sending a very wrong, strong, message.

Seems to me the Briar Jumpers didn't miss a beat without them last Friday night against Pulaski Co. I don't think a deal should have been made. Jeff Perkins' decision should have stood.
