This happened on March 11th, so I'll guess it's the same.

The last time a player had 30 or more rebounds in a game was in 1999 when George Potter of June Buchanan had 30 boards on Jan. 22, 1999 against Cordia. Brian Sayler of Red Bird also had a 30 rebound game in 1999 against Jackson City on Jan 5th, 1999

He just missed breaking the all time single game record for rebounds by 3 as Russ Milton of Fredonia High School pulled down 48 rebounds in a game against Marion High School on January 21st, 1957. Bol Kuir moves into 2nd place in most rebounds in a game past King Kelly Coleman of Wayland High School who had 41 boards against Maytown High School in 1956.

Back on March 11th in Belfry’s last regular game against another 15th Region team Lawrence County, Jr. Bol Kuir, who is leading the state with 14.3 rebounds a game, posted a double-double of 25 points and 42 rebounds in their double overtime win 78-77 over the Bulldogs of Lawrence County. Yeah you heard right 42 REBOUNDS! This has to be some kind of record. I have never heard of anyone getting anywhere near 42 rebounds. 20 would be considered outstanding, and we rarely ever hear of that. The Belfry Pirates are still alive as they will face the Pike County Central Hawks in the 60th District Finals Friday night. Belfry won their regular season matchup with the Hawks 67-62.

The Simon Kenton Pioneers are the 32nd District Champs as they got past the Walton Verona Bearcats, and now both teams will move on to play in the 8th Region Tournament. Niece had 30 to lead the Pioneers.

Fun fact is that Newport was only down by 6 at the Half.

The Highlands Bluebirds won big over the Newport Wildcats in the 36th District Championship game. Congratulations to the Bluebirds, and good luck to both teams as they both advance to play in the 9th Region Tournament that begins next Monday, March 22.

The Holy Cross Indians gave the Colonels of Covington Catholics a nice battle for a little over 3 quarters in the 35th District Championship game before the wheels started falling off. The Indians were the first to score, and managed to keep the lead, or tied until it was knotted at 22 where the Colonels gained the lead, and held it the rest of the way. At the end of 3 the Indians got back within 6, and the closest they were in the 4th before the Colonels started really running away with it was down 6, when the score was 69-63 At the end of 1 it was all tied at 17 At the Half the Colonels were up 38-29 After 3 the Colonels were up 57-51 Final: Covington Catholic 84 Holy Cross 62 Evan Ipsaro for the Colonels led all scorers with 29 Mitchell Rylee had 18 Donavon Stocks had 17 Chandler Starks has 10 For the Indians it was Jacob Meyer with 24 Blake Robinson and Brandon McClendon both with 15 And Jeramiah Hicks had 11 Congratulations to the Colonels, and good luck to both teams as they both advance to the 9th Region Tournament that begins Monday March 22.

The Ryle Raiders avenge their regular season loss to the Cooper Jaguars in commanding fashion in the Semis of the 33rd District tourney, and earn the right to now face the Conner Cougars in the District Championship game Friday 7:00 at Boone County. Win or lose, both Ryle and Conner will advance to the 9th Region Tournament. At the end of 1 it was Ryle up 16-8 At Halftime it was Ryle up 27-17 After 3 Ryle 38-24 Final Ryle 55 Cooper 41

Dixie kept the upper hand the whole way, extending their lead more and more every quarter. After 1 Dixie 18-12 At the Half Dixie 38-27 After 3 Dixie 60-37 Final Dixie 72 Lloyd 49 The Red Colonels move on to face St. Henry in the 34th District Finals Friday 6:00, at Lloyd.

The Holy Cross Lady Indians, and the Holmes Lady Bulldogs battled it out in the 35th District semis to see who would earn the right to face the Notre Dame Pandas in the 35th District finals on Friday night, and the Lady Indians prevailed. The game started pretty rough with neither team doing much in the ways of finding the basket with the 1st quarter ending tied 4-4. In the 2nd period Holy Cross jumped out to a 10 point lead, but the Bulldogs stormed back to get things close by halftime with HC up 18-14. The Lady Indians began pulling away in the 3rd quarter, and were ahead by the end of the period 37-24. They kept the foot on the pedal ultimately winning 56-30. Good luck to the Lady Indians when you face the Pandas of Notre Dame Friday night.

You're right about that. NewCath played Newport the first game of the season, and beat them quite handily 77-44.

The Wildcats stunned the Thoroughbreds of Newport Central Catholic, and will now move on to face the Highlands Bluebirds in the 36th District Finals to be played Thursday night at 7:00 at Dayton. Welcome to the 9th Region Tournament Newport Wildcats!!! I've no details about this game, and can't wait to hear how it all went down.

The Crusaders move on to play in the 34th District Finals on Friday night at 6:00 against the winner of the Dixie/Lloyd game that is being played tonight at 7:45 @ Lloyd.

Are we speaking of Coach Jeff Haile of the Henderson County Lady Colonels of Region 2 who has 759 career wins to his 228 losses?

The Beechwood Lady Tigers were no match this evening for the state ranked Notre Dame Pandas in the semi-finals of the 35th District Tournament being played at Holmes. The Pandas jumped out to a 12-0 lead to begin the game and never looked back, and had a running clock midway through the 3rd period. Big on the night for the Pandas was sophomore Noelle Hubert who knocked down 6 3’s and ended with a total of 24 points. Also big for the Pandas was Jr. DeAsia Vonhnandorf who was money around the rim netting herself somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 points. Jr. Lacey Brown had 12 on the nite, and is now just 6 points shy of 1000 career points. Actually she could have earned that award tonight, but sat out most of the running clock, and saved that big moment for Friday night when the Panda’s will face the winner of the Holy Cross/Holmes game in the 35th District Finals. The gym has been cleared to be wiped down due to COVID, and the next semi-final game will be played tonight at 8:00. At the end of 1 it was ND up 17-2 At the half ND up 40-13 After 3 ND 54-19 Final Notre Dame 66 Beechwood 24.

The Holy Cross Indians just had the Beechwood Tigers’ number this season as they got ‘em again, and this time it mattered even more than the regular season seeding game where they won by 18. This game was an intense nail biter with a great environment, just the type you’d like to have in a good old fashioned 35th District battle, and it did not disappoint. The game was a pretty tight one most of the way with the Tigers up most of the way, and after having an early 8 point edge it stayed mostly a 4 point game. After the Indians had an early 3-2 lead they never took the lead again until 53-52, and it stayed close until the last 2 minutes of the game when the Indians began getting some breathing room. Both teams suffered from the line, so you could say the Tigers lost the game at the line, which they indeed did, but the Indians didn’t fare much better from the charity stripe either. Key for the Indians tonight was Brandon McClendon getting to the rim netting 21, when the Tigers would try to stifle Jacob Meyer. They had to pick their poison between two players who average 20 ppg, and McClendon delivered and created for himself. Hicks was a monster on the boards and big boy sophomore 6’8” Sam Gibson made an impact with his minutes, while Meyer chipped in his fair share of 22 points. The Indians effectively shut down Downton tonight whereas Scotty Draud still got his leading all scorers with 28. The Holy Cross Indians now earn the right to take on the Colonels of CovCath in the 35th District Finals Thursday @ 7:00 @ Holmes, and win or lose both they and CovCath are set to be in the 9th Region Tourney. Congratulations to the Tigers on a sensational season, and farewell, and good luck to the seniors, and much luck in the future, and to the underclassman we’ll be excited to see you next season. Got to hand it to Scotty Draud for thrilling us with his awesome 5 year varsity scoring dynamo career, and his teammate Will Downton wasn’t too shabby either. Highlands moves on to the 36th District finals to face the winner of the Newport Central Catholic/Newport game being played Wednesday @ 6:00 @ Dayton. The Finals will be played Thursday @ 7:00 and also at Dayton.
