Newport’s defense again played lights out. The offense started to put up points in the second quarter. It was 2-0 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter Newport took control and ran away with it.

Ludlow travels to Newport in a 1A first round playoff match up. It seems like these 2 non-district foes have gotten pretty familiar with each other in the playoffs the last three seasons. Who continues to the 2nd round?

Kendall Buck-Barber had his way with the Harrison defense, eclipsing 1,000 yards on the season. Newport’s defense again played lights out with the only score gave up late against the JV.

An awesome memory for me was being apart of the rivalry as an assistant coach for Bellevue for 6 years and Dayton for 2 years. It is a great river city rivalry and I think one of the most unique in the state!

Newport Travels to Harrison County next Friday. Dayton was pretty banged up going into the game, but Newport took advantage of the momentum in the second quarter. Final 52-14. Dayton scored two touchdowns late. Hats off to Dayton for fighting until the end and making some plays early. Dayton was not going to just lay down without a fight. Newport was firing on all cylinders defensively and the offense went off most of the night.

Bellevue's defensive line played great.

I think SK puts up a fight, but at the end of the day I think Ryle puts up some points on the long rifles.

Barber was out with an injury as stated, but from what I've heard it is not long term. Kid is a play maker.

I think Newport handles business early. Bellevue has had a solid year defensively, but the wildcats might be too much for the tigers to handle.

I know last year when the game was Bellevue, Newport walked down the street to the game with the marching band leading them in.

Newport's defense looked great even though the score wouldn't say that. The offense couldn't get rolling and there was two big key injuries for Newport. DE/FB/TE Sean Hurry was out before half time and Kendell Buck-Barber RB/S went down with an injury on the first drive of the 2nd half. Sayre is a well coached team and looked great Friday night.
