This is just my opinion but getting kids to their senior year, especially in a decent sized public school, is one sign of a healthy program. And, by getting them to their senior year I'm not talking about sitting on the bench and clapping for the other guys. I'm talking about fundamentally sound players who can contribute. If your feeder system is good starting in middle school and going on up through 9th grade and JV level they should be able to contribute. Girl's coaches are notorious for what I call "talent mining" in that they'll pick out the top 2 athletes in the 7th grade and play them up. If you take 2 kids from each class going from 7-12 you've got your 12 players. They spend very little developing their players so the rest of the kids get frustrated and quit.

As I remember it Goodin and Hager were both at DCA for at least part of middle school. I can't remember exactly when they made the transition to Boyle but Hager played some varsity in the 8th grade so it was before then. DCA is so small you see everyone from K-12 in the course of a day so it's easy to get them mixed up.

They were mentally and physically exhausted by the end of last season. They played the toughest schedule in the region along with the AIT and the All A. Coach Story didn’t seem to recognize it and taper off after the first of the year. I have talked to some Lincoln County folks and one of Jeff Jackson’s strengths is that he understands the need to scale back on practices in order for his team to have fresher legs going into the tournament.

Yes, they played their normal zone but paid close attention to where Paige was located. Their defense is getting better as they learn the proper rotations. They picked up 3/4 court for most of the game.

In the 12th Region All A it was Danville Christian Academy 42 Danville 30. Danville started strong and ran out to a 14-8 lead in the 1st quarter. DCA turned their defense up behind the play of Titus Boyd and limited Danville to 16 points for the rest of the game. Danville's 1-3-1 gave DCA some problems but they pulled it out.

Is that even possible in the middle of the season? I didn’t mean that to read like I doubted you, I was curious about eligibility.

I just learned that the 12th Region All A regional has been moved to Somerset High from Danville. Apparently, the Danville gym has a leak. DCA and Somerset open tomorrow night, the 7th, with the tip off at 6:00 PM.

DCA vs Somerset rescheduled for Tuesday at 6 if possible.

They always had good teams when I played. I played at Somerset a long time ago and we played them close but never beat them.

Casey used to have some good teams. What has happened to them?

I'd really like to watch this game. Given the low cost and high quality of the technology we have today you'd think we could get a decent quality video feed. There are plenty of students who have the expertise and would love to run the equipment.

Unless it was something really egregious, in a 2 point game with less than a minute left, the ref needs to let the players decide it. Will Bartley have to sit out against DCA?

I tried to watch it but my video feed on YouTube was really glitchy. it would play for a couple of seconds and freeze. What I did observe was the following: Brown, and Boyle in general, was applying a lot of pressure to Wayne's guards and it seemed to disrupt their offense some. I'd have to see good video to determine just how much. Phillips was the best player on the floor. He can flat out shoot the ball. The Boyle players just seem to randomly decide to launch a three at times. Their three point attempts aren't always taken in the context of their offense or with rebounders in position. If Driver had any shooting touch at all he'd be a great basketball prospect. He's big and really athletic but outside of a few feet it's like he's just throwing it in the general direction of the basket.

I watched it on HUDL so there was no commentary. All I'm going on was what I observed. Somerset was down 2 with 37 seconds left when Coach Young got the technical (I wrote it down for some strange reason, I think I wanted to see how it played out......). He evidently said something the official didn't like. He wasn't out of the coaches box or ranting and raving. At the very end of the game Bartley and a Rockcastle player exchanged shoves and had to be separated. A fan was ejected who I assume was a Somerset fan since he was sitting right behind their bench. I wasn't aware of any players being ejected. They skipped the handshake line and went straight to the locker room.

Rockcastle and Somerset tied, 28-28 at halftime.

My video feed from Wayne County is real glitchy but it's 32-25 Wayne at halftime.

Do you know if there will be streaming of this game? I've not had a chance to see much of Wayne this year.

I've been hearing about the Boyle County athletes for a long time now and I'm not sure I buy it this year. Driver and Brown are definitely excellent athletes. Other than those two I just don't see it. The rest of the players aren't better athletically than a lot of the other players in the region. If you put Quisenberry, Turner, Hager, and Brock Driver on that team then I'd say you have the athletes.

I noticed that Sawyer Robbins for Lincoln hadn't played in their last 3 games. Was he injured? He's a big part of their success.
