In the 12th Region All A it was Danville Christian Academy 42 Danville 30.

Danville started strong and ran out to a 14-8 lead in the 1st quarter.  DCA turned their defense up behind the play of Titus Boyd and limited Danville to 16 points for the rest of the game.  Danville's 1-3-1 gave DCA some problems but they pulled it out.

Wow, what a low scoring game. 30 points is crazy.

Interesting that Danville played a 1-3-1. Did DCA play their normal zone?

Yes, they played their normal zone but paid close attention to where Paige was located.  Their defense is getting better as they learn the proper rotations.  They picked up 3/4 court for most of the game.

I'm sure having to go back to back caused some of the slow start.  Somerset and Danville really pushed DCA, so they have def. had to earn this trip to the Finals.  I suspect Friday (weather permitting) may be the easier challenge yet.

I think you can contribute DCA's defensive success to two factors: Their Length on the back end and Titus Boyd's instinctual skills.  I do worry for them that someone will get hot on them in tourney play because they do give up open looks to almost everyone they play.  But, it'll take a double digit make night from 3.

DCA doesn't look as sharp as they have the past couple years.

I think they look sharper then they did towards the end of last season. But they looked really good early and mid last season, so they’ll have to maintain. I also think the fact that they’re playing more kids this year will ultimately help them later in the season.

They were mentally and physically exhausted by the end of last season.  They played the toughest schedule in the region along with the AIT and the All A.  Coach Story didn’t seem to recognize it and taper off after the first of the year.  I have talked to some Lincoln County folks and one of Jeff Jackson’s strengths is that he understands the need to scale back on practices in order for his team to have fresher legs going into the tournament.

Makes sense. They did look tired. And the bigger rotation will will help with that this year.

I really do think they’re the clear favorite right now with the 2 bigs and Boyd being supported by a lot of kids accepting their roles well. And that D!

It always made me nervous when we had a superior team, and allowed the game to be played in the 40s, especially with the 3 point shot.  A team gets a little hot, or lucky, and then you're in a battle.  I'd rather trade some easy baskets and force tempo.  Although with the 2 bigs, that might not be the best pace for DCA.  They certainly are athletic enough to get up and down the floor though.
