The Rebels make the trip to Hindman to take on the June Buchanan Crusaders.

One of these two teams will get they're first win on the season as both are winless and both have been blown out in all of they're games. Casey County has two games were it was single digit losses.

Casey used to have some good teams.  What has happened to them?

Not sure. Both (according to KHSAA) have similar rosters. I think Casey has 12 and JBS has 8. As far as how many play? Who knows.

They had a decent team 2 to 3 years ago and before that was a regional contender from 2014 to ‘17, but essentially its natives leaving for greener pastures.  If they had Cash Baird, Guy Turner and Willouguby they would have a nice core.

I didn't realize June Buchanan was fielding a team again. They've only played in the district tournament once (2021) in the last five years.

They always had good teams when I played.  I played at Somerset a long time ago and we played them close but never beat them.

Eight district championships but only one (2016) since 1994. Regional champs in 1993 along with second place finishes in 1972, 1976, 1977 and 2016. The 70s, 80s, and 90s were definitely the heyday for Casey County but it has been a bit lean since. As @LethalPG said, losing kids to neighboring schools over the years hasn't helped.

With the kids alone I mentioned, they're a contender in the 47th district this year.  I personally love their gym, and with the newly resurfaced floor it is super nice.

I haven't been in years. I think the last time I went was as a JV player, maybe sophomore year, mid-90s. Our coach was yelling at us at halftime, punched a locker (one of the old metal ones), and broke his hand!
