  1. Purples just need to contain the Maroons QB’s feet. Stop him from using his legs and Purples get a running clock. Great write up, 88!
  2. May be your best write up yet. Great job, 88! South will certainly try to win the time of possession battle to keep Deuce and the gang off the field. Coach Smith and the boys in black had to lose some sleep last year after the hitch pitch game. Purple train is rolling and I suspect it will Friday night as well. My guess: Purples 42 South 20
  3. Tall task but I think the Purple Train got started this past Friday night vs the Red Devils and will continue this upcoming Friday afternoon. Can the Defenders “defend” the passing arm of Mr. Bailey? I'm guessing the Purples avenge the last second loss of last season and will be clicking on all cylinders in this game. After this game, our younger guys gets lots of reps for a few weeks so our starters know that this is their game to turn it up a few notches. My guess: Purples 47 Defenders 28 Great write-up Purple88!
  4. Glad to see the Purples bounce back and get in the swing of things. Great win! Not only did the Purples take care of business on the field but what happened off the field, to me, was just as important. The culture (I like to call it the DNA) of the Purples program is top class Very strong! **The facilities are as nice as you will find ** The atmosphere is electric. 100’s of alumni. 50+ little Purple cheerleaders. The tailgating before (and after) the game. The marching band in the parking lot playing fight song. I know many schools feel the same way about their programs but the culture of BGHS football right now is very special. I have to believe that not only do our fans see it and appreciate it but I believe it’s very INTIMIDATING for our opponents, their fans and even their coaches. Purples, I believe, is going to get the train rolling again this season. Owensboro fans may disagree but I think the game was over before it ever began. Red Devils looked to have zero energy in warmups. No fire. No hitting shoulder pads. No nothing. My friend leaned over and told me - RUNNING CLOCK Great job last night Purples - on and off the field!
  5. Understatement! agree 100%
  6. “The offensive straw the stirs the Purple Kool-Aide….” You always have great one liners! Everyone in state and certainly all opponents of BG, will have exact same game plan: 1 win time of possession 2 win turnover battle 3 keep Purples offense off field Douglas will attempt to do these three things and believe if they can accomplish these 3 tasks, they will win. However, Mr. Deuce, the stirrer of the Kool-Aide, is confident that if his defense can get a couple of extra stops, that’s all he will need to take care of business. Big players make big plays. BG has some very big (as highly talented HS players you’ll see in the Bluegrass) players that WILL make big plays, regardless of their opponent. One possible issue that Purples will face two or three times this year: On paper (which can be dangerous) this is a generational team. Not only 14 starters returning but ALL high level skill players and best defensive players return. Coaches must keep this team grounded. They will average 50+ per game. Even if they only average 40 (which they won’t) it will be very difficult for their opponents to score 40+ to steal a victory. it will be a great game with two great teams. Will be fun. Hoping for good weather and no injuries. My prediction: Purples pull away in 4th quarter for the win! As always, great job 88; remarkable write up!
  7. I plan on going to this game tomorrow evening. Can anyone let me know if tickets can be purchased at the door? I know football tickets you have to get in advance and was just wondering about tickets for tomorrow night basketball game. Thank you.
  8. “A wet sparkler” Great job, Purple88!
  9. Sorry I haven’t kept up with threads on KOB - Will any of tonight’s games be streamed?
  10. Seems like Cooper would leave for game before the noted 3pm Community Sendoff on Saturday. Seems like a late sendoff to me. Good luck to both teams. Should be a great game.
  11. Like everyone, I’m really looking forward to the game. I’m sure Cooper is better now than they were in weeks 1&2 but I can assure you that the Purples are much better now than beginning of season. Great coaching, Purples! I know Alexander is a stud (his dad was phenomenal) BUT……. I don’t think Cooper has seen an athlete this year like Deuce Bailey and Trevy Barber. I think the opponents that Purples have faced the Purples would agree on my assessment of these two kids. Saturday night should reveal everyone’s thoughts and opinions of the players and the projected outcome to either be true or false. In my Purple colored glasses, I’d be hard pressed to think there will be two bigger difference makers (and athletes) on the field than #2 and #3 that will be wearing Purple and Gold.
  12. Deuce = ALPHA It was a complete game by the Purples tonight. Need 1 more win!! Good season, Owensboro. Hampton is real deal
  13. Black Friday football is hard to beat. Throw in 2 teams that has played each other 84 times that respects one another’s program but wants their longtime rival to lose by 50 every week makes for a great atmosphere. Here’s what we know… Both teams better be on their “A” game Both teams needs to win turnover battle Heres what we need to remember… Big Players make Big Plays. Whichever team has the ALPHA player on field that noticeably stands out Friday night will, IMO, win the game. Give me Deuce and the Purples for the win. Purples 41 Red Devils 21
  14. Great write up Purple88 Purple Train is picking up steam. Win this game and Black Friday home game will be just what Purple Nation wants and needs. it’s late in playoffs so don’t get too cocky and overlook opponent but I’ll take Purples over Fairdale with running clock. Purples 55 Faidale 13
  15. Purple88 Your work ethic on these threads are unrivaled.
  16. Wonderful write up. Hoping rain stays away and it’s a perfect Fall, crisp night. 48-21 Purples is my bias prediction
  17. Purples offense seems to already be clicking on all cylinders. I think teams will have to score 50 to beat them (aka LCA). Purples defense (8 new starters) are improving. Special Teams has been above average and will also improve. I think Purples will come out with foot on the gas. Purples 48 Bryan Station 31
