Bowling Green 35 Owensboro 14

Big win for the Purples on Mr Football Night.
Deuce Bailey with 4 TD passes

O just couldn’t get traction tonight. But 2 scores late.
BG 35

O 14

Purples coasted tonight, it was a good bounce back performance. Owensboro has some things to figure out but this is really good BG team they are dealing with. Good game to O.

Next week against Bryan Station should be another strong test.

O dominated - O line weak, defense horrid.  Not a recipe for success.  BG - hand them 5A trophy.  O didn’t seem concerned about Barber, we lined up way off him and he ran wild.  No way O competes for state.  I like scheduling tough but we didn’t show much heart.  35-14 more like 50-0 if the game plays out.

Congrats to BG handling business at home as usual. They came out and executed there game plan which earned them a running clock in the first half.. For O that was just simply unacceptable. They will beat up on the teams there suppose to beat this year but as far as the BG’s, South Warrens and Coopers are concerned they just aren’t there… Poor tackling on defense. Barber broke 5 tackles minimum per catch as if the Devils never practiced tackling in practice. Dline is slow and soft, never got any pressure on Bailey.. Offense was moving along with short passes to open the game then all the sudden O decides to force a run game in Hampton that just wasn’t there. Last year I was a huge advocate of Hampton at RB now I’m thinking he would be a better fit at WR because he’s a down hill runner, only useful once he gets going all that dancing in the backfield got him stuffed all night.. All in all O just needs to get it together before they suffer more retention issues this offseason. Vent over ?.. Once again hats off to the Purples y’all deserve all the praise.

No heart at all. Life was taken out of the Devils the moment the purples scored the 1st TD. Purples could’ve named the score. They definitely let the foot off the gas early.

Glad to see the Purples bounce back and get in the swing of things. Great win! Not only did the Purples take care of business on the field but what happened off the field, to me, was just as important.

The culture (I like to call it the DNA) of the Purples program is top class Very strong!

**The facilities are as nice as you will find
** The atmosphere is electric. 100’s of alumni. 50+ little Purple cheerleaders. The tailgating before (and after) the game. The marching band in the parking lot playing fight song.

I know many schools feel the same way about their programs but the culture of BGHS football right now is very special. I have to believe that not only do our fans see it and appreciate it but I believe it’s very INTIMIDATING for our opponents, their fans and even their coaches.

Purples, I believe, is going to get the train rolling again this season.

Owensboro fans may disagree but I think the game was over before it ever began. Red Devils looked to have zero energy in warmups. No fire. No hitting shoulder pads. No nothing. My friend leaned over and told me - RUNNING CLOCK

Great job last night Purples - on and off the field!

I’ll have to agree! The atmosphere is one of the best in the state! Tag that in with recognizing two of the best to walk the halls of Bowling Green High School.

It is a great day to be a PURPLE. Looking forward to seeing them go to work next Friday against Bryan Station. The “Purples” took their foot off the gas, would like to see this group and coaches put together 4 quarters from start to finish!

I would LOVE to double LIKE this post NL!

I would offer you a different take on the 4 quarters statement though.

IMO, BG is building depth.  How do you do that?  You let your second string get varsity snaps, fail, watch film, get coached up and then they are MUCH more ready to be the "next man up".  I think BG does that well and it will pay off next season I think as those guys will have to step up then and a small piece of the reason BG has sustained a quality program for so long.

It certainly was a fun experience last night at BGHS!  And a Great Day to Be a Purple!

Pretty cool perk from last night too:
